Grab a rangerpoint precision toolless thumb screw for that lever flat head screw, and you can field strip that far in the field on a hunt or whatever. Don't lose that ejector on the ground though 😉
I did this exact thing before I even fired it. Mushroomed the crap out of a .38 round trying to pound it out before I thought to take the lever and bolt out.
The cause is the nature of the cartridge. Flat nose with a rimmed straight case, originally designed to be used in a revolver but has hiccups in a repeating rifle. Henry is not the only manufacturer that has issues with 357 in rifles.
I have shot hundreds of rounds of this type of ammunition without issues. The research I’ve done suggests this happens if you do not fully open the lever before closing it when reloading. Just a freak thing that happens.
