This chemistry video tutorial explains the concept behind henry's law and how it relates to the partial pressure of a gas above a solution and the gas solubility of that solution. It contains plenty of examples, notes, formulas / equations, and practice problems for you to work with all calculations and units included. It also shows you how to calculate or determine the gas solubility if you're given the henry's law constant or proportionality factor. This video also helps you to determine which gas is more soluble, a polar gas or a nonpolar gas.

This shit pisses me off beyond belief, I WANT TO BE A PHYSICAL THERAPIST. Why tf am I forced to study this shit for hours and hours suffering to try and understand this when it has literally no use to me, yet I’m paying to take this class and suffering for it just to forget everything I learned about chemistry as soon as I’m done with the class this shit is a scam why tf do I need to know this… I don’t but yet I will spend the next 2 months trying me ass off in a class that has no use to my life whatsoever 👍🏻

In the beginning I would define the term "solubility" as the concentration, wich is the number of gas particles per volume (e.g. in the unit mol per liter) in the liquid in a state of equilibrium (equal gas flow into and out of the liquid). This is a very simple notion everybody can understand.

so when looking for solubility you use s=kp and for pressure you use p2/p1=s2/s1?

Could another reason be that CO2 contains more particles than H2 which means higher P thus higher Solubility?

Why is it a factor of 3
@ayecarumba5164
@ayecarumba5164 4 года назад
Because solubility and pressure are directly proportional, thus if the pressure increases by a factor of 3, it increases the solubility by a factor of 3.

Great help, thank you, but what up with using "torr" instead of "atm"?
@TheOrganicChemistryTutor

You can still get the right answer since the units will cancel when using the ratio P2/P1.
@austincurran8025

what would happen if you converted them from "torr" to "atm"?
