My study tips come from the mind of a senior high schooler. But I don't think the factual study tips are any different in how they are practiced college, aside from manifesting these more seriously than ever before. Anki (if you make the flashcards right) can help in memorization. Notability (on iPad) can also be beneficial as a substitute for physical notes. Use tools such as PhotoMath (to check your answers if answer keys are not provided for review; not all math textbooks have answer keys at the back, while some only provide for odd-numbered exercises), Desmos, Mathway to explain crucial technicalities. Also, I believe music can help; I have a personal preference on listening to compositions by TheFatRat and movie soundtrack composers. Make sure you have a place designated for studying. Love from Philippines, thank you for helping us out throughout the years, Organic Chemistry Tutor!

1:30 I think there were two main things that helped me. First was to make it easier for me to start studying and second was to put myself on a time crunch; like 40 minutes non stop study session and than a 10minutes break. If I found it hard to start, I'd annoy myself to get to study

1. Finding a study spot on campus; avoiding studying in dorm room 2. Phone on focus mode and stuffing it at the bottom of my backpack 3. Always using paper + pencil for scratch work. Helps to replicate an exam setting. 4. Just me but no music with singing. I always stick to piano playlists. 5. Don't just stick to the book. Find online resources to get more practice problems. MIT always has great and challenging problems on their website. 6. Before the quarter/semester starts, create YT playlists named after your classes and start saving related videos to them. More often than not, the book can get bland/not explain things well, visually. In my final year of Mech. Eng., so I'm taking a few random classes like robotics and starting senior design project. I'm very easily distracted so I've come up with ways to stay on task. I start studying a week before the test/Exam 1. make sure I eat a lot before studying so my focus wont be shifted to the fridge every 10 minutes. 2. I give my phone to my roommate and tell them to only give it back after a certain amount of time (depending how long I plan to study that day) (this helped me detox from social media too!) 3. First thing I do is work on the practice test or exam provided by the teacher. (if they do not provide past tests, course hero is excellent for finding past tests in almost every class) 4. when I'm having difficulty with a question I put a star and go to the next question 5. once I'm done I will fully review the topic of every question that has a star 6. when I say fully review that means, reading the textbook section , doing textbook problems UNTIL I'm comfortable with the material, if the textbook doesn't help I come straight to this channel. 7. to properly study using your video content I find it best to try and do each example before you go over it, to really see if I understand (the feeling when I get the same answer as you is amazing) I am second year electrical engineering student and with this method I'm getting A's in majority of my classes. Next semester im taking circuit theory, computer architecture 1, intro to electricity and magnetism, Electronics 1

I always found studying for a test/exam over the course of several days to be extremely helpful. For example, if I knew I had an exam coming up in the following week, I would plan to study only certain topics of the course each day following up to the exam, usually starting anywhere from 5-7 days before the actual test. Breaking up the topics into separate days makes it easy to know when to stop studying for each day and avoid overwhelming yourself. Then on the last day before the test I would go back and review all the sections, but quicker, as a final recap before exam day. I think purposefully breaking up study sessions over several days and scheduling them for yourself can be very helpful. I know it worked for me!

Starting early is definitely something that helps you do well in your classes! I took a Discrete Math class in the Fall that was pretty challenging since it was all new material to me. However, by doing all of the homework/assignments at least 2-3 days early, I lowered my stress levels and learned the material better. Also, it is important to try to gain access to as many resources as you can. Some concepts can definitely get challenging sometimes, however, if you have someone that can always help you, you will do a lot better! (Examples include: Professors, friends, and, of course, RU-vid!!). That's pretty much mainly what helps me do well and pass my classes!

@@humzasadiq2902 I mainly just searched my concept online and found some videos that explained the concept well. There are many small RU-vidrs online that have just a couple hundred views but can really help you! So don't just avoid clicking on a video due to its low view count. This mainly helped me. Good luck! Edit: Trev Tutor's playlist may help. For me, it was just random online videos in addition to my professor's notes + textbook, but Trev Tutor and some other playlists (if you search for Discrete Math lessons on RU-vid many playlists will show up) may be of help to you!

When I study with your videos, I have found that it is most beneficial to pause the video after the problem is introduced and make the best attempt I can before playing more of the video and seeing the solution. This really allows me to analyze where I make mistakes and I tend to remember not to make those same mistakes later. You really get a lot more out of the videos than you do watching passively. I am a part-time engineering student and am taking Calculus 2, Statics, and a course on SolidWorks next semester. I'd love to see more videos on subjects like statics and dynamics. 01-) Setting a timetable that has my breaks and sleep time prioritized. 02-) Write notes in class and review them whenever I can. 03-) Do lots of practice papers, but I get afraid to depend on them too much because most of the time they cover the general topics and leave out the small details or less important lessons. 04-) Read the curriculum's check-up list, tick whatever I know and re-study whatever I don't. 05-) Expand my knowledge from videos on the net. Your videos were particularly useful, a TON of thanks for that. 06-) Take quizzes and tests as seriously as finals. 07-) Study the hard topics early in the morning like around before dawn and keep the easy topics after I come back home. 08-) Avoid caffeine drinks and resort to fresh juices. (I don't stay up late, preferring early morning) 09-) Read textbooks other than those required, usually from higher years up. 10-) Try explaining topics to my friends. Especially ones I learned and are still fresh to spot weaknesses. 11-) While doing practice papers, I spot repeated mistakes especially in subjects like chem and maths and jot them down and read them everyday. I helps keep the list in my mind. 12-) Studying in different places. It helps me concentrate. For example, I study math in a quiet library where I can focus, biology in the balcony where I can memorize. I am still a freshman, and I am thinking about one of biochem, genetics and calculus. I am really into programming for fun, but I've really wished you would create a Java lesson or python. Other than that, may you please make a video on genetics, especially the Crispr/Cas9? I don't think it I get it that well. THANK YOU SOO MUCHH!!

How to study math subjects: 1. Take down class notes in notebook 1, examples being the most important. 2. Study class notes then study physical/e-book topics or look up topics related to class notes. Books usually cover all sorts of variations (of problems) which may not be covered in class. 3. Solve problems in some scratch paper and transfer solved problems to another physical notebook (notebook 2). Work your way up from the easiest to the hardest/more obscure problems so as to be prepared for however difficult problems may come up in the test. 4. Put important formulas to be memorised and some useful tips in an index card. Notice that the purpose of notebook 2 is for you to understand the PROCESS while the index card's purpose is for MEMORISATION. You can go back to your index card whenever you forget a formula or want to memorise a dozen of things instead of going through numerous pages of the notebook. 5. Study in advance future topics. 6. Refresh and go back to finished lessons every few days or so for retention. *Notebook 1 only contains class notes and could look a little confusing sometimes. Notebook 2 contains solved problems and is far more presentable compared to notebook 1. I use a binder notebook that only has a few pages for every subject, but adequate, as my notebook 1. Notebook 2 is a separate notebook which has a lot of room for you to write as many problems as you want (see step 2, second sentence).
@rite2bcreative
@rite2bcreative Год назад
1. Time management: throughout the day, write down any due dates or tasks you get and once a day, transfer these items to a master calendar that you then use to plan your days 2. If the teacher publishes their slides, use those to take notes on (print ahead of time or use a tablet) 3. Use any study guide or practice test provided. If nothing's provided ask if they can make one or if they can suggest certain problems from homework/the book that would help you study. 4. Find good study spots early in the semester. Coffee shops, study rooms that you can reserve, random computer labs that nobody uses... It's worth finding these now so you don't waste time trying to find a free table at a crowded library later 5. For notes: I write the main concept as well as steps for solving a problem, then a couple example problems. I like to highlight the main concepts and steps in different colors. This really helps my memory and to keep things organized in my head. It also makes it easy to look through old notes and make a quick practice test with those example problems or flash cards with those main concepts 6. Network with the other students. Find out if there's a discord anyone uses. Get there early for class and stay late. Talk to the other students during these times, especially the first few classes. The information and connections you get during these times can be incredibly useful 7. Take advantage of office hours 8. study the course material before the lecture so that you can use that time to ask questions and not just take notes and try to figure out what they're talking about Good luck everyone! My hardest classes this semester are electromagnetics and computer architecture... I'm a little scared 😬

I have three things I usually do when I study. One is for memorizing things, one is for general studying, and the last is for math. 1) When you need to memorize things like functional groups, chemical reactions, taxonomies, or really anything like that, write it out several times as you say it. I once heard that seven times is enough but I usually shoot for 20 to be safe. I then test myself until I get all of them right. If I don't, I right them again. It's time consuming but it works because it uses writing, reading, speech, and hearing all at the same time. 2) Read through chapters once just to go through the material. Then go through it again and make your own notes on it in your own words. If something is still a little confusing, get help or watch a few videos. 3) Do all the examples in your book, then do them again. If you can go through the examples with no problem then move on to problems at the end of the chapter. Bonus) This is really useful in math but can help in any subject. Once you know how to do a problem, learn to do it quick. Time yourself or race your friends in the class to finish problems quickly. The point is to be able to do problems to point that they are intuitive and you don't have to think too hard on them. I know I usually overthink math problems and end up getting them wrong. Less chance to doubt your answer=less chance to mess it up. Edit) I'm taking biostatistics, genetics, O Chem 2, and molecular biology next semester.

Taking a break is pretty helpful. Sometimes, trying to study when you're stressed out or overwhelmed is difficult, and I find that taking a break is helpful to allow myself to reset and have more focus when I get back to work. If I've been studying for a few hours, I'll take a 30 minute break and do whatever I want, and then come back with more energy and a clearer head. TLDR: 1. Study outside of your room 2. Set a timer for like 15-30 minutes to study then take a break 3. On your breaks walk, get water, play a simple game 4. Make a to-do list 5. While studying listen to white noise or instrumental. I mean you can listen to lyrics but I don't because it can be distracting. I prefer silence, it feels weird at first, but it also helps you really focus 6. Study with people to keep you accountable or don't lol if you get easily distracted 7. If you're tired take a nap for 5-10 minutes or stop for the day, you're not being productive, just accept it and sleep 8. RU-vid videos are good but don't be afraid to ask a friend, classmate, tutor or teacher/professor for help 9. Turn off all your notifications 10. Use a timer on your laptop/desktop instead 11. Don't study while hungry, I would say you can take a break to eat but then you could get distracted 12. Don't be afraid to say no to people, sometimes you have to study instead of hanging out and good friends will understand that. I call it ✨hermit mode✨ 13. Practice a lot, if it's not fun do you really understand it? jk kinda, for me when I finally understand like a math or science concept it's kinda fun, so keep that in mind 14. Don't overstuff your brain. 15. Write down concepts you don't fully get/understand 16. SLEEP, BROOOOOOOOOO if you don't sleep well all your efforts are in vain 17. Make a schedule of your entire day if you procrastinate easily, that way you have time to study and stuff and don't have to cram 18. If you didn't do good in a class specifically like math or science, where everything you learn is built on each other study over break, I know it's not fun but it's better than trying to catch up later. Like I did trash in chemistry but I have to take chem 2 next semester sooooo I'm studying now 😒 19. Write a recap of everything, and if you forget to write something go back and study it again 20. Repetition is key, doing lots of practice problems, rewriting the same things, or hearing the same things over and over they all help That's all I have, I think, uh have fun studying, it doesn't have to be hard. sometimes we make things more complex than they need to be. no, I'm back 21. If you can, take notes before class. like, watching the lecture or class from last year or even the other class(like if you have TTR classes, you can watch MWF classes) if available because for the most part, it's the same thing. And then you can just add on what the teacher says in class. For me taking notes in class is bad because I'm focused more on just getting down whatever the teacher is saying or writing(obvi not all of it, just the main stuff) but it's still hard for me. Like I'll be trying to think about the atomic structure e of an atom isn't really accurate usually and next thing ya know she's talking about how to find the percent of an element with just the mass of the entire compound but the compound name is just Xy(II)Xz.. jk kinda. my point is I get behind and my notes get sloppy, and I end up being confused. But when I watch the recorded version I can pause and take my time, you could also watch the video after class, but then you'll be a bit behind ayo this is pretty solid advice I should listen to myself more

I try to learn the material ahead of time and I like to review my old notes consistently throughout the semester. As as a result, I won't have to spend much time studying during the final seasons since I was studying throughout the semester. This reduces my stress load during finals. The key is starting early and being consistent throughout the learning process.

honestly, another useful tip in college is hanging around and making friends with people who share the interest of having good grades and study frequently. as they push you to study things more thoroughly and might give you heads up for things that you may have missed. group studying is very very effective as well ; when you are engaging verbally around people it helps memorize ideas/theories, especially if you know the subject and you start explaining it to them, it makes you even more disciplined in that matter. and lastly id say what made a huge difference to me is transferring to digital note taking , you can search on youtube about digital note taking and its advantages , you can clearly see how it can give you an edge to others if you use it correctly, which is not hard , you just need to be an organized person in nature and you'll be set.

For students who struggle with memorizations, i have a tip for you which is to use flashcards. Basically they're little piece of notes where you write questions on one side and answer on the other side. You can easily find them at bookstores or if not, just cut a big paper into several small square pieces, each about 5cm long. What you want to do next is write the equations on one side of the flashcards, then flip them over and write the name of the equation on the other side. For example, i wanna memorize the Equation of State. On one side, i write "what is the equation of state?", then i flip the card, and write the equations on the other side. Once you're done writing the flashcards, put them together like a little deck, make sure the questions side are facing up, maybe shuffle them and begin to answer the questions written on them. Once you're done with one, flip the card and check whether you got it right or not. If you get it right, place the card down on the table, which side face up doesn't matter. If you didn't get it right, memorize it again then put it at the back of the stack of cards, question side facing you. Repeat till you finish every card. You can even just start out with only 5 cards and eventually expand it till you get all the equations. This really helps me as i have memory issues and I absolutely suck at remembering things. I hope it helps you too Edit: oh and make sure you review the cards often. Like, i do it 3 times a day toward exams. Once you remembered everything the exam will feel like a breeze

I usually had a step process for all my classes: 1. Writing down all relevant information for the exam, paper, etc. 2. Using a mindmap to understand how each concept relates to the next (Understanding/Memorization) 3. Using Anki to memorize any arbitrary bits of information or equations with tons of variables (Mainly Memorization) 4. Doing practice exams/problems/homeworks just to practice applying what i've learned from the last two steps I personally also only like to study in my apartment, though sometime I'll do it at work if I'm kinda short on time

My study strategy: 1. Turn my phone on Do Not Disturb and throw it across the room (a very satisfying step) 2. Find a several hour long higher pace classical music video that I can loop (makes the studying feel more urgent) 3. Set a timer for the amount of time I would like to work on a set problem or class 4. Watch Organic Chem Tutor to learn what my teacher failed to teach me 5. Stand up and walk around, give myself a quick brain break (but not too long or I'll lose focus) 6. Rinse n Repeat

I can tell you what didn't work for me! 1) Waiting until the last minute to start homework assignments. The further you go on in college, the harder the assignments become, aka, more time will need to be devoted to doing the work. 2) Cramming the night before an exam. Similar to my reasoning for #1, exams get more difficult (generally) the further in school you get. After a certain point, pulling all-nighters stops being funny and actually may start hindering your performance. 3) Over caffeinating. 4) Depriving myself of rewards. Don't forget to take a break and do something you genuinely love doing every once in a while.

Getting outside and maintaining an active lifestyle is probably what I need to do. Ever since i moved to the Suburbs i haven't been able to learn squat, i am now doing virtual classes, what I've found is essential to learning efficiently is a good environment (library, study hall, in a classroom) and noting as your teacher/instructor is speaking on a physical sheet (don't type it out onto a laptop, the act of writing is what gets you to process that information). I'm in my last semester of high school and sadly might have to do an extra year/adult school because i fail to meet these standards.
