Hep Alien reunited at the ATX Television Festival on 5 June 2015. The Stars Hollow band performed the songs they featured on the hit TV show including the main theme from Gilmore Girls, "Where You Lead" by Carole King.
For anyone interested in the timestamps 2:03 - Hanging on the Telephone - Blondie 5:08 - I'm a Believer - The Monkies 8:14 - Fell in Love With a Girl - The White Stripes 10:23 - Where Is My Mind - Pixies 14:34 - They address why Sebastian Bach (Gil) isn't there 15:28 - Single Ladies - Beyonce 18:39 - Where You Lead - Carol King
Now all that's missing is that they record an album! Long live Hep Alien! ... On a more serious note, how sweet is this? They are really the coolest guys, doing this gig for the fans. Shame "Gil" was missing. Wish I could've been there to see this!
I can't believe that I'm just getting to see this. I've been listening to Gilmore guys and rewatching Gilmore girls for like the 40th time. And watching the show and listening to the podcast at the same time has been a great and different experience. For all you fans who are not aware of the Podcast, i HIGHLY recommend it.
I did now knew they threw actual shows, this fills my soul in ways no one can imagine. Gilmore Girls is my favorite show in the world but i started watching on netflix on 2020. so maybe thats why didnt know about this. I wasnt part of the GG fever back when it was an on going show. Im soooo happy.
This is AWESOME!!! Its so cute how nervous they are, but they are actually pretty damn good! Also, Keiko aged quite well, didn’t she. She looks fine :)
oh how sweet to see you guys again...loved Gillmore Girls...I got to meet Melissa McCarthy in the commissary...just a few feet from the Gillmore set...I was thrilled...
Blondie - Hanging On The Telephone (The opening track to Parallel Lines) The Monkees - I'm A Believer (this is also in the first Shrek movie lol) The White Stripes - Fell In Love With A Girl Pixies - Where Is My Mind? Beyoncé - Single Ladies Carole King - Where You Lead (the Gg theme song)
Was going to say there's something fishy going on with the bass, until notice half way through there is a 2nd bassist to make it sound decent while the main bassist has to sing lol. Before was like WTF there is bass without playing?? Lol. I can't remember the show except for being a teenager and thinking it sucked from the tiny exposure I had. But this band is a decent TV show band (with two backup session musos to help hehe). One thing, the lead singer at 13 minutes his hands are shaking speaking talking about his college sports team, hopefully he's just nervous, could be parkinsons otherwise :(
It's really a great, smart show. Sebastian Bach of Skid Row was in this band on the show, also. The show is getting to be a cult classic. Still in reruns on a few networks and a movie made (skip that!).
What? Is this for real? Can someone explain? I mean, I read that in the show they weren't actually playing the instruments, they were faking. So... How come? Did they learn how to play and become a real band or was it just a one time thing or what...? So confused
This was a GG Reunion in Austin Texas, I believe. Sponsored by ATX. I know that Keiko Ageno, Todd Lowe, Sebastian Bach of Skid Row (not in attendance here) play IRL. I'm not sure what the story is on John/Brian, the bass guitarist. I thought he played, also, but possibly mostly vocals.
@@stellamoon2532 The Hep Alien music was indeed recorded live in Gilmore Girls, but not all of them could play. Keiko Agena plays a bit of drums. Todd Lowe sings and is a very competent guitar player. But John Cabrera never learnt to play bass so there was always a bassist playing off-camera (as John explains in this video). Sebastian Bach is a singer but he can’t play guitar at all! There was a guitarist playing his parts off-camera. The others joked that Bach even had trouble holding his guitar convincingly.
@@trucomment96 Did you watch the video? 13:34 Zack introduces “John Cabrera on the bassguitar” and John says “I’m actually not playing”. He explains that on the set of Gilmore Girls and here on stage there was a real bassplayer (Dave Rygalski) off-camera, playing the bass parts. And then we get to see Dave play bass. I play bass and I can assure you that John can’t even *fake* playing the bass.
