Firstly, apologies about the wind/audio.
This week I had a couple of afternoons fishing at the quality brown and rainbow trout west of Melbourne on Hepburn Lagoon. Late Autumn/Winter provides amazing sight fishing targeting big trout chasing baitfish such as Australian Smelt! I missed out this time on a big one, but still had some great chances and caught a few throughout the week and two this particular afternoon.

Great video on a much underrated fishery. It can be bleak and blowy but it does grow some hard pulling solid fish.

hi Tom, thanks for the video. When you are fishing these lakes, what depth do your flies run at?
@tomjarmanfishing3208
@tomjarmanfishing3208 5 месяцев назад
In the top couple of meters, normally the top few feet. The active fish you catch are normally up and looking to eat

Tom thanks for your videos I’ve recently plunged into nymphing because of you I don’t think I’ll ever look back so much less hassle thinking about back casts & presentation on dry flies I’ve been catching more fish too soo thanks mate...I’ve been trying to get my hands on that yoto reel you use it’s tough to get here in Scotland I’m itching for one you couldn’t maybe do a little video on it could you? Changing of the spool & general ins & outs of it? I’ve tried to find some vids but seems all different languages I can’t understand 😂

Great vid Tom. Fished Hepburn a few times over the years for zip. How important is having a sink tip? I only have floating lines...

Of the bank you can probably get away with a floater because lakes like this are shallow and the fish high. Cheers, Tom

Hey Tom, I've found your videos informative and entertaining. Many thanks. I've noticed in your casting you drop your hand back down the grip and then slip back up when you start your retrieve. Is this a concious process/ habit of yours? I'd be keen to hear why? It's possible I may even do the same without thinking.

Hey mate, oh thanks, great to hear! You know what, that is completely unconscious and I didn’t know what you meant at first. I cast with quite a loose grip so that must be the result haha
