hephaestus is the god that has got the most pain in his life.and everytime it someone is ready to betray him .but he is always ready to punish them for their betrayal
swad ahmed no dude it’s hades but Hephaestus is a close second hades is not allowed in Olympus at all nada he also is considered evil cause he’s god of the underworld when he’s clearly not evil just bitter some stories say that he cheated to become lord of the sky’s and stuff
Hephaestus is one of my favorite Greek gods, if not the favorite. He is creative, resourceful, clever, good with his hands, and innovative. He is a god of crafting, an actual maker. Most of the other gods don't actual MAKE anything; they just rule over various aspects of human life or interfere with humanity. Thank you for this video.
@@StarboyXL9 Just being appreciated and included for all his deeds and altogether usefulness by the other gods would have helped. Now he's like the abused kid at school who gets extorted for money. Getting made fun of, and being taken for a joke isn't exactly pleasant. He'd probably carry less of a grudge had Aphrodite divorced him before proliferating with Ares. He'd then hang out with the mortals who appreciate him, rather than laugh behind his back.
So out of all the gods, the one guy that makes all the gadgets that the others use to solve their problems is the least noticed and the least appreciated, just because he's not good looking. Yup, sounds a lot like life.
Accurate AF. But Apollo is useful and hes considered the most beautiful male of the gods. I mean hes supposed to be the one who introduced medicine to humanity. He's also has a very long list of jobs. But yeah treating the genius creator like shit is very stupid of them. They definitely need him. I'm just saying some good looking gods are smart and useful as well, but the Greeks looked down on disabled people I think so there gods make fun of them too.
If I had to serve a Greek god, I would pick either Hephaestus or Hades as my boss because those two (IMO) have merit and integrity that I value; sure, they got issues but they're legit as far I'm concerned.
holyforce000 While Hephaestus and Hades (pretty cool dude by the way!) could be your personal patron deities you would do well not to forget to honor the other gods, they may be petty a lot of the time but...they do have their good traits. Hera despite being VERY jealous and vengeful of Zeus' lovers and bastards she could be a gentle protector of family, the hearth and especially women. Heck even Ares could be seen as a protector of mankind, even he had his good side. Plus even the city states that had one or more patron god(s) would still pay homage to the others, least they incure their divine wrath...
I've always really liked Hephaestus. He always seemed more genuine and honest than the other gods and that made me have a lot of respect for him. He also didn't let his appearance and disabilities stop him. He did what he was good at and became important for his skills not his birth and / or his physical appearance.
_“God of fire and metalworking, Hephaistos was a master of the forge. Born lame and hideously ugly, Hephaistos never knew love, having been cast down from Mount Olympos as an infant by his mother, Hera. In spite of his deformities, or perhaps because of them, Hephaistos fashioned objects of intricate design and exquisite beauty, such as the gold and marble palaces of the gods, and the brilliant sets of armor of Herakles and Akhilleus.”_
More like Ares. Eren Jaeger: God of War. Are you prepared. For the part 2 of our fucking fight? This is not part of the fucking movie or what now. Ares: Come on bring it on. Eren Jaeger: That's what you have new? So lame. 😏😎 Ares: Fuck this son of bitch. *Grabs Eren in the neck and slams him into the ground.* Two guards in the house of Sasha: If you want the part 2 of the fight it already happened here. Ares: Who's lame ha?! Who's lame? Eren Jaeger: YOU! Ares: I'm lame?! Eren Jaeger: 😁😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆 Hephaestus: *Stops Eren and Ares.* Hermes: Settle this like gentlemen. Ares: Come on take a shot now bro. *Takes off his accessories.* Come on. Eren Jaeger: 😏 Go. I'm ready man. Ares: *Finds a bottle of beer in the broken table where he slammed Eren.* Here's your beer! 🍺 *Throws a bottle of beer at Eren.* Eren Jaeger: *Dodges.* You throw that like a little girl. Here's your beer. You fucking faggot!
Hephaestus has always been my favorite god from the pantheon. I liked the fact that he was skilled in crafting and everything he made was astonishing to say the least. There is another story saying that in fact Hephaestus wasn't always ugly or deformed as people know. There's a story saying that while Hephaestus worked there was an accident where the fire of Olympus escaped the forge and engulfed his face, his wounds were so severe that his face remained deformed. Another version is when Hephaestus angered Zeus after Hera bragged about the skill of her son, in a fit of jealousy Zeus struck Hephaestus so hard he was thrown off the top of mount Olympus and fell into the sea. There's another story where Zeus continued to trick Hephaestus promising him Afrodita's hand in marriage in exchange for his services, so Hephaestus labored to satisfy Zeus' requirements only to find out in the end that Afrodita couldn't possibly love someone has ugly as him and that she was already in love with Ares. So Hephaestus crafted a chastity belt disguised as a beautiful golden belt and gifted it to Afrodita, when she wore the belt it locked on her waist and refused to be unbound, thus she could no longer have any kind of joining with any god. Thus Afrodita was forced to marry Hephaestus over Ares, under the promise to remove the belt.
Hephestus is actually my favorite God. He just wanted to belong on Mount Olympus and just wanted to be loved. And I actually like that Aphrodite and Ares were caught by Hephestus. They did wrong. She cheated on her loving husband. He's da only God that I like he's really cool.
Rolyn Georges I have this weird fantasy in my head where all the people the Greek gods have tormented ban together to exact revenge against their immortal tyrrants. Prometheus is their leader, and Hephaestus just joined....
Hannibus 42 I've always liked the idea of the betrayed characters like Prometheus, Medusa, lycanos, Midas, and Arachnae getting together to get revenge
I was telling my mom about how I love Greek mythology, my alter, etc, and she asked my favourite god. Mine happens to be our boy Hephaestus. She sent me this video saying she was watching it and that it's really interesting
Being the god of the forge has to translate to a God of invention or mathematics. Being a master craftsman takes real skill and imagination that most people don’t have to begin with.
He was so bewildered to have such a beautiful wife and was ready to teach her like the goddess she was, and she just went behind his back, breaking his heart. 😭
Ah, yes. That ungrateful bitch Aphrodite, not appreciating being sold off to a guy she didn't care about and choosing instead to fuck someone she liked.
Greeks when an evil titan that rules the universe, and eats his children: It's the golden age! Greeks when a goddess visits her husband: Its cold, dark, its winter
I was about to suggest that Hephaestus should have chosen Athena as his wife instead of Aphrodite, but after hearing that part about Gaia, obviously that didn't work out either.
Major issue was that Athena was an "forever virgin" type of goddess. Most goddesses were grouped as virgin, mother and/or crone(not as often crones in Hellenic but as an aspect of them). Athena, Artemis and others were forever virgins. This is why even though Hephaestus tried to rape her he ejaculated on the thigh and Gaia gave birth to their son meant to be the king of Athens(city). Side note their son was Snake/reptilian-like to bear the actions of his father for all to see. He can be seen as the snake Athena sometimes holds or has around her. Also it's connected to medusa's punishment for losing her virginity (as she was a virgin priestess of Athena) in her temple even though it wasn't her fault. And this is also connected to people believing reptilians rule the world as it was them that were the (mythological) first kings of Athens before democracy.
I've heard of at least one version of the story were the only reason behind Hephaestus's advance on Athena was because Aphrodite filled his mind with an uncontrollable lust for her as payback for stringing her and Ares up in front of the other gods. Either way, Athena is a maiden goddess, so she definitely wouldn't marry Hepheastus, or anyone else.
As s commentary of Greek society, His asking and getting Aphrodite's hand, would have been a status thing. It was a example to piont to that said basically, to win beauty, one need not be attractive, if one was indespensible in ability and skill...
@@leahkent147 the side i heard was that Poseidon and athena didnt like eachother very much at all and he tried to rape medusa. She ran into her temple while Poseidon followed behind. Athena thinking her priestess was going to fefile her temple punished her by turning her inti what she became.
My favourite part of this is when Hephaestus makes a device to ensnare Aphrodite & Ares in the midst of adultery. Brilliant! I can imagine the Themiscarian Amazons trying to convince Hephaestus & Aphrodite to ensnare Ares again. Hephaestus is kind of OP when you think about it.
Hephaestus is the Male Creative - there is quite a bit of interesting psychology around the deity. Also, you should understand that blacksmiths - to the ancients - were a kind of "sorcerer" or sorts - it was alchemy. Very similar to Ogun in Africa (in fact, some of the most advanced metalwork in iron comes from sub-saharan West Africa - and during the slave trade - Africans brought their technology to the new world - almost all of our ornate ironwork comes from West African peoples combining their knowledge with the more ornate patterns of the French and English - something to think about the next time you visit New Orleans or nearly any southern city in the United States - and many northern ones as well - but I digress...). Being a masculine embodiment of what is a predominantly feminine principle (creativity) and the ascension of male primacy in the Greek Pantheon (at one point there was 6 "masculine" and 6 " feminine" primary principles of deity - when Hestia "steps down" and Dionysius takes her throne - 7 male and 5 female "prime" dieties - and Zeus becomes as well the male "head" ..... I'm getting into too much ancient history here.....).....he is shown as lame. As well, it was a custom of many peoples to hobble their blacksmiths in the ancient world - because they were too valuable to the community to lose. Ok , that's way too much information -- but please enjoy!
Stop talking utter bull ****... No inventions came from Africa, nor is this Greek god embodied for men.... Mars is for men, Venus is for women. You're beyond help. Seek it before the Lord punishes you.
Of all the gods, Hephaestus is my favorite (sorry Hades... you are still my number 2). He is the underdog of the Olympus who doesn't get appreciated enough. All he wants is love and is working hard as a godly blacksmith. And his workplace is a volcano. Can you get more badass? Despite that one unfortunate event with Athena he is a nice, loyal and hardworking guy. And the fact that he's a handicapped god makes him so much more relatable
Dude, the content in your channel is subperb! Takes me back to my kindergarten years, when I use to sit in a circle with my peers and listened to our teacher read I g to us 😌
You'd think the guy who lives in a f*cking volcano, forges Zeus's personal hand nukes and builds giant killer robots on the weekends would get a little more respect!
hephaestus is a god who shows that people appreciated and acknowledged by their achievements, merits and talents. He deserves respect and love because he has helped gods by crafting their desired items and humanity by teaching metalworking and other forms of crafting arts like stonemason like athena and demeter have imparted their knowledge to humanity.
I relate to him the most out of all the Greek gods. The others are seemingly too superficial and I didn't like how they treated Hephaestus. He even loved Aphrodite and she really didn't reciprocate that same love for him. He deserves better.
There's also another story with Hephaestus wherein he helped create Athena. Supposedly Zeus had a large headache and Hephaestus obliged by cracking his skull open with an axe/hammer (not killing him though). Out from Zeus's skull sprang Athena
Hephaestus and Ares are the earliest form of Virgin and Chad That being said, Hephaestus is the only compassionate and emotionally mature Greek God, he doesn't deserve the crappy treatment he gets from the other gods, and I wish he could find a friendlier pantheon to hang out with.
It’s weird, when I listen to the stories of Athena I feel like he was a disgusting miscreant, but now that I’m hearing his story from the start I’m like, “awww, poor guy...”
Your channel is treasure of knowledge sir . and I loved every Greek warrior I am learning because of you and your difficult research as this is a mythology topic...🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏from India
I prefer the version where Zeus threw Hephaestus off the mountain for protecting his mother. It gave a deeper bond between him and Hera, as Hephaestus is Hera’s only child
Hephaestus would be the God I’d want to appease the most, his jewelry was magnificent and the weapons and armor he created was the stuff that made legends
I always found Greek Mythology interesting I set back with a glass of wine and watch these videos. This is one of my favorite RU-vid Channels thanks for the uploads!!
I Love to see the Temple of Artemis Artemis is my favorite goddess she’s the coolest goddess ever one day when we event time travel the first thing I’m gonna to do is to go back through time to see the Temple of Artemis 😁
If I was Hephaestus I would make all the weapons with a weakness that only I can active and when activated it compounds all the damage it has dealt in it's lifespan and directs to the user if they attack me or have ill intent towards me.
Hephaestus is probably the most dangerous God on Olympus. He can forge weapons/contraptions that even Zeus can’t stand against. If he can cause such turmoil with a simple sticky throne trick, imagine what he could do when he really gets pissed off.
Considering that they have both thrown him off the mountain on separate occasions, I think it is safe to assume they didn't particularly want him anyway.
True. He's able to do what the other gods can't consistently do.... Make weapons, armory, and jewelry. He made nearly ALL of the other gods look good. They'd probably feel emptiness and unprepared for wars without him!
They're parents who accepted responsibility for raising a child, and they threw him off of Mt. Olympus. They don't deserve Hephaestus, or any other children for that matter.
Poor Hephaestus. He makes jewels for Aphrodite that doesn't care for him and cheated on him several times. Hera his mother threw him out, even after he tried to protect her against Zeus his father. He's been planning his revenge after learning of his sad origins but kept setting it aside and became craftsman of the gods.
Fun fact: What does Hephaestus an Deadpool have in common!? Perpetual Cancer! One major part of Hephaestus ugliness comes from what is believed skin cancer (belief mostly can't really check him for cancer). The smelting of bronze is highly cancerous and most blacksmiths used to have it. Skin cancer may cause skin discoloration and other ugly skin problems, it can be unpleasant to look in late stages but it's not really lethal. It made sense for the god of blacksmiths to suffer from their common conditions. So there an immortal that had cancer...!
Well we are talking about mythology, timelines aren't a thing. Major example is how full power god Heracles was part of the "titanomachy" before the Olympians took over even thought his stories and birth take place way after that! Same goes for anyone. Like how can you have Hephaestus stories and birth again take place after the the Olympians versus the Titans since he was the one that forged everyone's weapons! Stories where "rebooted" to add more details and his theoretical cancer was something that i always thought as a nice little fact
I'm pretty sure that Zeus's thunders are forged by Hephaestus but this might be one of the "changed" ideas. Sometimes cyclopes for example are both titan "cousins" and sometimes are children of Poseidon.
Jack Pride tragic person/= loser. Most of the times he is just an ugly person who is victim of double standards. The only difference between a charming person and a creepy person is the looks
sumit dalal Thank you for seeing the truth. Most people say nice guy and really treat a person differently because of that. I actually started to get offended whenever someone called me that or compared me to someone that was a "nice guy"
Thank you for this. I love Haephestus. I prefer to think of him as the eccentric artist or craftsman. They're viewed as different to the world. Their validation comes when people notice their work.
Ares was gorgeous, but he was also a giant asshole whom no one, not even his dad, liked. Just like war looks pretty and glorious from afar, but absolutely hellish up close. Pretty much the only gods who liked him were his mom, Hera, (begrudgingly so) and Aphrodite with whom he had a genuine connection. As, after all, love and war are very similar concepts.
Excellent...Had no knowledge of this god...the name I'have heard but nothing was ever elaborated. I 'm much more interested in this than I have been in a long time, you have brought back to me something I didn't know I missed, funny huh?...lol
Is it me, or can we actual sympathize with Hephaestus? The guy seriously got nothing but the short end of the stick. Even though he helps the gods out on so many things.Granted he did do one bad thing, that time with Athena.(doesn't make it right but at least understandable.)Or was their more stories?
He was a sort of every man, as well as object lesson. That is, if you are skilled and crafty, it doesn't matter how you look, you can achieve even Love and Beauty....
So Hephaistos trying to rape someone is "understandable", but other gods doing the same is just evil and terrible and evil, hmm? Also, what about Harmonia and the cursed necklace? Y'all hate Hera for that kind of thing, but I bet you are perfectly willing to cut Hephaistos some slack. Poor woobie, getting cheated on by the woman who was forced to marry him. Isn't that right, guys?
Compare of what the other gods have done in the myth Hephaestus was the most serious along with Hades, in most myth he is seen in his workshop working on new inventions, not like the other gods that most of the time had relationships with every human they found, not did he caused some random disaster or killed a lot of people like most of the gods did
Yeah That’s pretty bad what he tried to do, he feel alone and alone after the affair scandal, he saw Athena and wanted to be with her, again it doesn’t justifies his action, but cut some lack on him, the other gods have the same thing or worse just because they cut do it, for jealousy, lust or anger, pretty childish if you ask me, Poseidon raped Medusa, Zeus rape many women, ares was a brutal and nasty deity that no one beside Aphrodite like, Aphrodite was shallow, jealous and prideful, example psyque and Eros, Artemis had short temper and curse a lot of people
Hephaestus just like may other smiths and characters that mostly play in the background. Are the reasons why the other main light and more known characters are able to have their weapons and other objects due to those in the background. Hephaestus is honestly one of, if not my favorite Greek God.
Recently finding these they are very good. I don't like the modern corruptions agenda with new super heroes these myths are representing our collective psyche and this for shamanic and human energy integration is a value to me thank you brother.
My two favorite depictions of Hephaestus in media are as follows: Justice League: Unlimited where he was voiced by Ed Asner, and in Disney's Hercules and Hercules: the Animated Series.
I find Hephaestus the most empathetic God in my opinion. Whatever his origin story it's always kind of sad do to his physical appearance and his limp. At the same time though I find his story inspirational because he never let these slow him down and made use of his other talents including his work as a blacksmith and metal worker.
Don't know if it's been said before but Greek mythological objects (weapons, armor, accessories etc.) Is something I'd like to see! Big fan love your work!
agree on tat imagine with the abitity to create weapons that can kill gods and if so he wished for it he could create automatons and arm them with this weapons to restrict the gods or just overthrow zeus and become the new king of gods. If not for the fact he was a peace loving god he will have been an overpowered god.
If Hephaestus simply sat back and refused to craft anything for anyone except himself, the Gods would have been in some trouble. This shows how dependent the other Gods were on Hephaestus even though he wasn’t treated rightfully at times.
The Athena Affair is even sadder for Hephaestus than this lets on. Athena was having weapons and armor made and, rare for one of the gods, would frequent his forge to watch him work. Poseidon noticed this and, having a little grudge against both of them (Athena over Athens and Hephaestus over a payment to help get out of his marriage to Aphrodite) decided to play a prank on both of them. He essentially told Hephaestus that Athena really REALLY wanted a rough, physical relationship with him and was waiting for him to make the first move. Needless to say that this joke wrecked probably his only friendship on Olympus.
Thank you for doing this video about me, mortal. But I would have preferred if you hadn't included that little disagreement with Athena, we have worked it out since then. It WAS Milena ago, after all. We are finally on speaking terms once again.
