Note that Scylla was turned into a costal cliff by Poseidon in Messina. After being turned into the Famous Sea Monster by Amphitrite. Black Death originated in October 1347 when 12 ships from the Black Sea docked at the Sicillian Port in Messina.

I wasn't aware that there were so many other deities that were affiliated with the ocean, but since Poseidon titled himself as the god of the sea, its much easier calling on the memorable titled god than calling on to the other thousands who seem to be easily forgotten. love it!

I've been studying ancient culture, mythology, and religion for ages. I've had an understanding that the Judaic "devil" was a conflation of multiple entities. When relating to Greek, it includes Cronus, Zues, Hades, Poseidon and Hermes as well as possibly others. From there, I deduced that Zues, Hades and Poseidon were actually the same entity. I did not, however, know about the Mycenae take on this. I appreciate this video so much. It's opened up a whole new branch of research for me. Can't wait to see if they have any explanation of Hermes being involved in this misunderstanding.

The only reason the Mycenaeans worshipped Poseidon is that he showed up first while Zeus spent several hundred years playing tricks on the Persians because Hera has a beef with them and you know how demanding women can be. After he finally showed up and started one-upping his brother all the time the central focus of worship easily shifted to him. Of course, it never stopped there since they have a very competitive sibling rivalry that gets so intense at times that Hades just decided it was smarter to keep to himself. Poseidon is actually the one that spread the rumor about them drawing lots to make it seem like he was shafted, but they each picked their positions and he figured it'd be easier to gain favor with the people with knowing how valuable seafaring is to any merchant society. Of course, this inevitably blew up in his face since he gets blamed for the horrible events that happen on the seas even when he has nothing to do with it.

You commented about the time it takes to upload a video, I don't know if you are aware of Hand brake but it shrinks videos to 10-15% of their size and speeds things up considerably when uploading. I am loving hearing these stories.
