Horses for courses. It is a sports bike. Not really intended for two up touring. When I was younger I loved my Suzuki sports bikes. Solo seat humps. So no pillion. No speed cameras. Less traffic. And a young flexible body. I could go for a tank at a time no problem. If you want discomfort. Try a Kawasaki ZXR 750. Even back then I found that so uncomfortable to ride. Great fun. But Ouch. If you want comfort ride a cruiser. Plenty of room. Big seats. Low height, Low pegs. Like an armchair with wheels. And some of them can hustle.
Yeah, prior to this bike, we toured on a vstrom 1000 which was in a different league when it came to comfort. I think a cruiser will definitely be in the garage in the future.
Congratulations on the wedding. Did you do any suspension set up for the ride? Preload? On my Kawasaki Z1000SX I had the rear shock spring uprated to cope with my fat behind plus my daughter being on it and it made that so much better. I made a video about it.
@@AusMoto check the suspension sag with just you, then with both of you. When the load is increased, the rear will squat down and make the front light. Steering will become vague, which is what you mentioned in the uphill twisties. Preload will increase the initial height, so that with the weight the correct stance is achieved. For the stiffness, you can adjust the compression and rebound damping. I'm no expert, though, I'm a Noob, so don't listen to me. That's why I took my bike to one 🤣
Let’s not bury the lead, congrats on the wedding man hope it all went to plan. Yeah I see guys on sports bikes travelling up the Hume between Sydney and Melbourne and while you don’t need to be a gymnast to ride in that position, you sure need to be to be able to stand up straight when you get off the bike. I hope the vstrom wasn’t sold, because there goes the touring as a couple. These bikes are made for the track, not long distance travelling. Ps- R1 rider wearing shorts…. Yep his a experienced sports bike rider
Thanks heaps mate! It unfortunately was sold but what that means is that within the next year, I'll have something in the garage that is much more suited to two-up touring then the GSXR, something even more comfortable then the vstrom such as a goldwing, fjr1300, etc.
nice vid mate is it your first sportie if so try using your core and legs more to take the weight off your wrist. more core and legs the easier the ride
Thanks mate, it sure is - yeah I've been training myself to do it and when solo, it's made the biggest difference, even managed a ~6 hour ride recently but two up changes it so much haha!
I have a gixer 1000, never uncomfortable for me, just the way you are riding, but not a 'couple tourer'...'No Bloody Way' too right on that... With your wrist, try using your legs to grip the tank and drop your elbows, I barely hold onto the handle ... just guide it
Yeah mate, I've started doing that and when solo riding it's made it waaaaay more comfortable but two up, I just don't think it's even possible to get comfortable.
seems to be with the replies to comments like this one. I’ve had a view reach out to me over email about it on my channel as well :( I couldn’t reply to your last comment
