Today my wife is doing her first ride on ZWIFT. It is also her first time using a power meter on a bike.
She just got some new road cycling shoes from Santic, which she can use with my power meter pedals to hook up our indoor spin bike to ride ZWIFT.
Let's see what she thinks about cycling indoors and training with a power meter on zwift.

Those pads sound like they need some lubrication. I usually soak mine with mineral oil. I use a dropper to dip in the oil bottle and put drops across the top of the pad, the oil soaks in and saturates the pad.

I can’t wait for you two to move to Vietnam and start speaking Vietnamese. That will be interesting. I am an American and I married my Vietnamese wife many years ago. At that time she spoke little English and I was an intermediate Vietnamese speaker. We spoke nothing but Vietnamese while we dated and for about 3 years after we got married. We slowly spoke more English as she got better. We started to have problems (a long story), but one day when we were with her family and speaking only Vietnamese it occurred to me that she seems like a different person when she speaks English. That realization probably saved our marriage. It will be interesting to see if you notice any difference in your relationship after switching languages in Vietnam.

Definitely there are some personality changes when changing languages. I think we'll mostly stick with Japanese, but we will see

Vietnamese might be one of the toughest languages to learn out there for a westerner, many expats in Vietnam do not even bother learning it despite residing in Vietnam for years. I have to say: many props to you for making the effort to learn it. In the USA, you get looked down for speaking English with an accent, but in Vietnam, Vietnamese people will literally lose their shit if they hear a westerner speak Vietnamese, no matter how bad it is. This channel is essentially about cycling which can be a bit too much of a niche audience. I think Cruise could expand by highlighting cultural differences between Japan, USA and Vietnam. There is so much potential to tap in with the different ways of life everyone experience while living abroad and traveling. If Cruise decides to move to Vietnam, this would definitively be a very interesting new chapter to explore.

Zwift would be great if you wanted to train but the weather wasn't suitable or good. Best training indoors. Great job Thuong san lol. I guess Cycling indoors is actually harder, so kudos for that !

Awesome. I think you should try the Xpedo Assioma SPD body swap and fit them to her MTB. Then ride up that long ATV mountain trail from back in April. I think she will be both surprised and encouraged by the power she can actually ride at because she conquered that climb like a boss 💪👍🏻

Great job. You guys should get a zwift sponsorship. I never heard of it. But now I am watching the virtual Tour de France! It looks like a great workout. I have a trainer but need to find out how to make it work

Thanks! It's a really fun workout. If it's a regular trainer, you can connect it with a speed sensor on the wheel.

Hey Cruise what size tyres do you ride on your cyclo cross bike? I have been thinking about getting a commuting bike for awhile but I don't know how much clearance I need. Do you think 30-32mm would be good enough for everyday commuting? Thanks, love your videos by the way.

Great first attempt , well done ! Tthe shoes look great. I don´t like the ride through the underground stations in London :p I like to listens to fast beat music to keep up the cadence.

Good work Thuong, nice workout. 🏅 I should also start using shoes with quick releases but I'm fear and still (after over 20 years) I use normal pedals and normal shoes 😞

That was really cool. How does the computer know what resistance you dial into the knob?

We're using power meter pedals. When you turn up the resistance, it becomes harder to pedal so your power will increase. The computer / game reads the power meter signal.

Using a spin bike, I can't imagine how a hill could be represented, short of manually adjusting the friction.

Richard Harris it looks like the spin bike’s drivetrain is basically equivalent to an automatic continuously variable transmission on a real bike. So it’s quite good. However, I would love to know about the brake dust, if there’s some and if it’s unhealthy. The solution would be a 🧲 system, and that is probably on the market.

@@Adam-zh6qr That's a good point, Adam. My guess is that it's not significant, at least on my spin bike. The flywheel's contact surface is highly polished, so I presume that very little dust is generated. Also, I don't see any evidence of dust generation, and the brake pad wears down imperceptibly.
