Her Majesty - female Snowy Owl 

Hi Byron, yeah she sure is a beauty. Snowy Owls are my all time favourite birds and I wait all year for their return to our area. In fact I bought the Canon R5 mainly for the 4K 120frames per second video mode which really shows off their gracefulness. Cheers.

Thanks Tom. Yes, she's very co-operative, but that's because she has been thoroughly habituated by being baited with live mice almost daily since she first arrived in the area in December. In fact. for more than 10 years now every Snowy Owl that has taken up winter residence in our area has been baited multiple times and therefore has been very co-operative. It's not ethical and a shame, but it is what it is and if you want to photograph the Snowy Owls in our area you have to somehow make your peace with this reality. Eight years ago I went into a major public internet rant over this practice and touched off a local baiting/anti-baiting firestorm which quickly spread. Some photographers still aren't speaking to me. Today I just stay quite, enjoy the Owls and get in some shots and video footage when and where I can. Cheers, Rudy
