Got caught in Münster, Germany, one Autumn, a novice to bicycling in the northern hemisphere where their Summers are more often than not, as warm as the Australian ( Qld.,) Winters! My hands froze and for years to follow, the thumb joints of my left hand used to clam up and I ended up with a rip-roaring ear ache developing into a serious ear condition. Best bike gloves now are my Eider- down, protective barrier treated, Golf mittens covering merino wool finely knitted finger gloves and ear muffs for the ears! And snow boots for cold, wet weather! Warm feet : best protection against colds and flu. Gloves and ear muffs are ALWAYS included, short or long trips. Got watch out for those sudden, summer thunderstorms with massive temperature drops.
0:10 was indeed at Toronto Airport, but in transit to Santiago, Chile (as can be seen at 0:07 here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-O4Tjv7hRcx0.html )
Hi Chuck, Gilbert here. The 3/4 pants I used are from a MEC, a Canadian Outdoors store. Here’s the info, but unfortunately, they are no longer available: www.mec.ca/en/product/5035-508/Prankster-Knickers
Those were “home brand”, so only available at MEC. REI (in the US) seems to have something similar however: www.rei.com/product/177432/rei-co-op-link-cycling-knickers-mens
@@2Bikes4Adventure Thanks again. I searched for ¾ pants on the R.E.I. Website but didn’t find the link you provided, wished they offered different colors though. I’m also considering having a pair of one of my pair of pants cut down and hemmed. Thanks for all your help. I enjoy your videos (watching in Nebraska, USA). Happy travels to you and Pam.
Hi! We usually do our touring on 3 speed Bromptons, and occasionally use our 6 speed Bromptons. In the “flashback” scene at 0:55 to 1:05 I am on a Birdy, which is also a great folding bike for touring.
