Damita Jo's Dance history: One of the longest-running syndicated show's most popular dancers, Freeman was hand-picked to come on stage with "Soul Train" performers Joe Tex and James Brown. Her time on "Soul Train" lead to work as a choreographer for televisions shows including "That's My Mama," "Dionne And Friends," "Your Big Break," and "Sister, Sister." As an actress, she appeared in the movie and television versions of "Private Benjamin." God Bless Hip Hop.

I am so thankful for Damita Jo! Soul Train came on in the midst of Saturday chores with my mom fussing and nagging us to get our eyes out of the tv, and would turn it off if we didn't move fast enough...but when Damita Jo was on she would always stop and watch, which means we got to watch in peace for a minute or two...so, thank you Damita Jo.

She was my favorite as well. I was just a kid, but every Saturday, after cartoons we would watch soul train, and my favorite things were the souk train line and scooing out Damita Jo Freeman! It's not a surprise that she had an amazing career as a dancer/choreographer, because she was/is an amazing lady!

DJF was my favorite soul train dancer. Soul Train...was the reason we got our housework done on Saturday. Soul Train was the reason we took a break from kickball...Soul Train was the reason you didn't see a kid on the street no where for the whole time it was on. Damita Jo Freeman is one of my all time original favorite soul train dancers. Every Saturday morning I would watch her get down and do her dancing as well. By her being tall she had those legs as well. God bless her to this very day she still look good as ever!!! Put twenty people around her nobody can't dance like her she can make those twenty people ashamed as well. I loved every dance moves that she ever did!!! Looking good and keep up the good work!!! Facts I saw it too I was a little girl living in Harlem when Damita Jumped on stage and danced with Joe Tex I said to myself that she was goin to be a🌟 Damita had choreographed Diana Ross show in Vegas she had taught Damita how to SURVIVE. Damita has had a long successful career.

I LOVED Damita Jo Freeman and Don Campbell on Soul Train. They were great together! Damita Jo was a force to be reckoned with in my opinion. I remembered those episodes where she danced with Joe Tex and James Brown and she was killing it!! She was so great the stars took her on the road and she choreographed major artists. Damita Jo Freeman was an outstanding dancer on both "Soul Train" and "American Bandstand" during the 1970's, and she acted in both the TV & movie versions of "Private Benjamin"! In the summer of 1985, Damita Jo was the lead dancer on the ABC series "Rock & Roll Summer Action", which was hosted by actor Christopher Atkins!

Ms Freeman deserved to .be honored at the Image Awards. or the BET Awards not in what looks like the basenent gym or cafeteria after 6pm. When she danced the next day at school thats what everybody was talking about No disrespect to the venue but she derserved a better place then that come on

I believe that Damita Jo Freeman was the most famous dancer on Soul Train (Right On magazine) next to the Lockers. They were all famous though. Look at how James Brown was watching her moves!!

What a lady, when Little Joe passed away, she went to Mr, Soul Train Don C. and asked if he would help pay for a headstone for Little Joe , since Little Joe had been such a part of Soul Train, and Don C. Said no. Ms. Damita Jo paid for the headstone for Little Joe's grave herself. That is the kind and sweet Lady she is. Such a big talent in the dance industry. I wish she would write a book about her life and the people who she danced with back in the day . If she has already written that book please someone let me know, because I do not know about it....
