At UFC 235, Herb Dean was the referee of a Welterweight bout between Robbie Lawler and Ben Askren. But the anticipated matchup had an early ending due to a controversial stoppage from Dean. Lawler was stuck in a submission attempt from Askren when it appeared he couldn't properly defend himself. But when the fight was stopped Lawler immediately protested the result believing he was fine and wasn't in jeopardy of being submitted. When u choke some one out it’s not because a lack of oxygen ur chocking two blood vessels on the side of neck which stops the flow of blood to your brain and so your body enters like a sleep mode(blacking out) to help prevent brain damage

They should be able to return back to position on bad calls like that. Not a perfect solution at all but better than a bad call

Nah cuz that would give them time to recover, if it’s a bad call then whatever it happens but you can’t return to fighting after it loses momentum

How was it a bad call though? Dudes arm went limp which usually indicates he was unconscious. If he didn’t call it and lawler actually went unconscious, everyone would be saying dean should have stopped it.

@@vitald8796yepp. People need to stop looking at Robbie's arm and start looking at the choke if they think this was a bad call. That choke is not survivable. The fight is over. Herb just saved Robbie from dreaming but he was already asleep.
