I have been making a skin care oil blend like you did in this video, the only things I add that are not in yours that I can see are chamomile, rosemary and arnica. I leave everything in the oil until I need to use it and then strain everything out. My biggest problem is that I live in a warmer climate than you so my skin care cream tends to melt, I think I need to add a little more of the shea butter in my next batch. Thank you for the update.

At the moment I have plantain, calendula, daisy, helichrysum, and a fun mix : mate and spirulina, all infusing in separate jars, in olive oil, exposed to the sun but covered so they don't receive UV... I never had issues with olive oil turning rancid, but I have only done rather small quantities until now, to make face creams and balms, for myself and loved ones. I mix several infused oils then. However, having watched your video, I juste took inside my jars and decided to continue the infusing in a fresher environment! And the idea of making a big mixed plants infused oil is really appealing.

I make the Old Alabama Gardeners Comfrey salve recipe which contains Comfrey, olive oil beeswax and rosemary oil. His recipe infuses the comfrey into the oil in a crockpot on low setting with the lid off. I made this recipe using extra comfrey so the finished product is dark green and kept in the refrigerator. I'm absolutely shocked how good this salve works for skin irritation, muscle soreness etc. It's amazing for my compressed back. Slap some on a no pain for a good night's sleep! Is using a crockpot in this manner not going to work using other herbs for infusions?

Idk but when I hear anything about God and how he's good it makes my skin crawl when looking at the past and current history of humanity and the world being run by evil. Makes me wonder why God isn't anywhere around to save anyone or anything. It's easy to say God is good when you're seemingly doing good. Cause those are your accomplishments not God's
@woodsie5796
@woodsie5796 2 года назад
Accomplishments are a gift from God; what you give, you get back 10 fold. What is happening in this world today is the evil that God is allowing to see who His real children are who are true believers in Him. Those are the people who are not afraid and put all their faith in Him and stand firm. We who are His children are the those who kneel ONLY to Him, we don't follow "man's" doctrines and dogma, we are the "Set Apart Ones." If you would rather follow evil and not Believe that God sent His Son, Jesus as the Messiah, to bleed and cover our sins, thats on you. I'm a whole Bible beliver. I follow God's laws; The Commandments and Laws of the Old Testament as Jesus did. Jesus came to wash our sins away our sins, not to abolish His Fathers Laws but he kinda "doubled-down" on them. For example; you are not to commit adultery, but Jesus said, you can't even lust over another woman. Simply get a Bible, and read it. That's as simple as I can make it for you. I'm not judging you; I am making you aware of a beautiful belief so that you may save your soul and live a life with no fear because God tells His children not to fear anything but Him. He us good all the time. Blessings and prayers to you @I see Jewelz 🥰
@RainCountryHomestead
@RainCountryHomestead 2 года назад
Many have problems with that statement but until you come to truly know Him and His word, it can be hard to understand. We say God is Good EVEN in the hard times, not just when things are good, and we have had our share of hard times. God also carried us through those times and yes, I give him credit for all of it. Even the things that people see as my own accomplishments because without Him, I would not be here today doing what I am doing, I can tell you that for sure. God created man and gave him free will to make his own choice. Many choose to do evil. God did not make them do evil. We are all going to die some day. For some it is at the hands of others for some it is by other means and some live until they die of old age. He knows our time. We were not created to live here forever but what we choose now in THIS live will determine where we will spend eternity.

I've clicked on this video (even though I already watched it a few times) trying to find a question I posed and to see if Heidi answered it...I wish I knew exactly which video it was. Anyway, your comment kind of breaks my heart. God is sooooooo good, dear lady (assuming that from your "pic". You know, He does not cause evil. There IS an enemy who hates humans because we were created in the image of God and brought back into relationship with Him when we accept Jesus Christ's payment for sin, which we could have never paid. God created us with free will; He doesn't even force people to love Him or accept Him as Lord and Savior. His Holy Spirit can be rejected enough to where He will no longer tug at people's hearts to draw them into relationship. I pray you'll seek Him, sweet lady. I pray you'll give Him the opportunity to show you His love and faithfulness. Blessings on you, and I hope you'll see this.

Violets (dried leaves and flowers) make a very effective breast massage oil. Violet leaf helps to dissolve water cysts. It has helped me immensely. I use a pint jar and fill it with the dried leaves and flowers which have been dried in a paper bag for a few days. I use organic avacado oil because it reaches deeply into tissue. For heat you can put it on top of a seed heating mat or put the jar inside an opaque sock and set in a window. Just don't let it get hot and shake gently every so often. Steep 6 weeks, strain through a muslin cloth-lined strainer and store in a sterilized jar.

Hi Heidi! I can’t wait for ur new Lilac video to come out! I’m super excited for that one since My lilacs are almost done blooming here & racing the clock to try to make as much as I can w/them b4 it’s too late especially for using fresh flowers b4 it’s too late….. My poor garden is SO behind this year so it’s not just u this year I’ve been hearing many gardeners saying that this year too! Do u dry ur lilacs flowers before infusing in oil or is it better to use them fresh? Also u mentioned in one of ur previous videos that lilac leaves are even more medicinal than the flowers themselves so have u infused the lilac leaves for a stronger infusion or are the leaves not as beneficial for skin as the flowers would be? Do u think the leaves & flowers have the same medicinal benefits or are they different uses & benefits between the 2? I’m also trying to make a facial toner & all my research on wether using fresh or dry lilacs have just left me confused cuz some say better to use fresh than dry & visa versa…… My heads just spinning from all the contradiction out there. So would u use dry or fresh lilacs to make a toner? Sorry for the so many questions I just really respect & appreciate ur knowledge😊 I have alot of the herbal books u suggest & really can’t find much of anything in there either. I’m also making a honey & maple infusion & just want to make sure I’m doing that right. Would u use dry or fresh flowers for that method & why? God bless u & ur family🙏🏼

I have yet to infused lilac leaves or flowers since my shrub is still quite young. Depending on how many flowers I get, I might do some this year, we will see. As far as a toner, I would personally just make a tea out of it and use that but of course, you would want to make small amounts and keep in the fridge in that case and yes, you can use fresh if you prefer

The problem with fresh is you can end up with moisture from the fresh herbs in the oil and this can breed botulism. Though I would suspect it is rare, I prefer to use dry. The other thing is you can pack more dried herbs into the jar than fresh thus making a stronger infusion

Some people do sun infusions but I do not. Oil gets very hot when heated and I get concerned about it frying the herbs and destroying the benefits

Heidi, I have a question. I made three or four olive oil and grape seed oil infusions but used fresh herbs....I was just reading that fresh herbs tend to turn rancid or can cause botulism. I've had them sitting in a shelf out of the sun for two weeks now, however we have high temperatures the past week almost 90 degrees and we have no air conditioning....should I be worried about my infusions? I'd hate to have to throw them away however I also don't want to make my family sick. Thank you for any guidance you can provide.
@RainCountryHomestead
@RainCountryHomestead Год назад
This is why I ONLY use dried herbs for oil infusions and never use olive oil as it is one most likely to go rancid. As far as rancidity goes, you will know by the smell but as far as botulism, well, it is rare but there is no way to know if it is in there as you cannot see, taste, or smell it. Though it may not hurt for topical use only but I certainly would not consume any or use on open wounds
@rebeccawhite7395
@rebeccawhite7395 Год назад
@@RainCountryHomestead thank you. I will use these only topically then, but not on open wounds..they don't smell bad but as you mentioned not sure if botulism is there or not.

Thanks Heidi. Do you dry your flower petals in dehydrator or leave set out to dry? What's the best way?
@RainCountryHomestead
@RainCountryHomestead 2 года назад
What is best depends on your climate and what you have. We can get pretty humid here so if there is no fire in the woodstove, I MUST use and electric dehydrator or they will never fully dry

Always been curious why Americans say Erb I stead of the proper pronunciation Herb, do you call Herbert - Erbert?. Sorry it hurts my👂
@RainCountryHomestead
@RainCountryHomestead 2 года назад
No, we pronounce the H in Herbert. To us the word Herb is a person's name. Erb is how we are taught to pronounce the word when in regards to plants. It is simply a difference in culture. Because I get ridiculed and even cussed at for pronouncing the word the way that is proper for us, I even did a video on it: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Uz0Y5fiJm7U.html However, one thing I have learned since shooting that video is that we take our pronunciation from the original word that comes from the French Herbe where the H is silent. So one could say we are the only ones that actually say it right. However, that would not be fair since many words differ in pronunciation based on location and in the US we say certain other words the "American" way like Oregano and many more.

Love your content ! Question: I see you added comfrey & I learned that you shouldn’t use comfrey for more than 10 days @ a time or no more than 5 weeks a year. What are your thoughts/advice about this ? Thank you & yes, God is good ! 🫶🏾
@RainCountryHomestead
@RainCountryHomestead 10 месяцев назад
There is a lot of fear mongering going around about comfrey, now I personally do not use it daily but am not afraid to either. I know several who drink a comfrey tea every single day and I am even less concerned about something I use topically. Where people need to be most careful with is using the root, not the leaves, and this is the part that is often not pointed out but the root is also very helpful for many things
