Herbal Health for Dogs 

Dogs and most animals come with instinctive herbal knowledge, they know what to nibble and what not, i've seen them eat diferent plants depending on their needs

I love watching Jazz and Broc playing together. They remind me of the two I used to have. My Cara passed away several years ago when she was 13, and Sasta passed away 2 years ago. He was almost 16. Both were rescue dogs from a shelter. Where I live now isn't fenced and the road has lots of traffic, so I just have an inside cat now. You're right about vets not really knowing about animal health. Most of them just want to do a lot of expensive testing and give meds with side effects. Plus, as with our food, who knows what's in the pet food that's sold in stores. Your advice for taking care of dogs is excellent, and both of your dogs look extremely healthy and happy. May you be blessed with their presence for many more years.

I love that you have to spell out words as well to your little loved ones. They are smarter than we think. I worked at a veterinary for many years but believe in a holistic approach with animals. One of my veterinarians finally would occasionally recommend a natural remedy before I had to quit because I moved. I don’t force my ideas on anyone but suggest what has worked for me in the past. I feel like a job well done when someone considers and tries a natural approach. Thank you for all you do. I love you videos

My girl is 13. She is my soul dog…love her deeply! Thank you Terri for this info. She has digestive problems and is on a special food. I mix in a tablespoon of honey, a few blueberries and some ground flax seed with her food. I want to slowly withdraw her from the dry food. Have a great week and stay safe❤️

Sounds ideal....and how folk used to look after their pets years past. 5 decades ago we used to give our Tri Border Collie a tin of sardines each week to enhance his coat etc., meat the rest of the week and a good marrow bone. So many dogs with diabetes over the last 30 years or so!! 🙈 Still; big pHARMa and the insurance companies are happy eh! 👀

Our old whippet eats a lot of cleavers straight out of the hedgerow. The elderly border collie prefers a little grass. We make their food. An oatmeal (cooked) base with boiled chicken, a little finely chopped boiled carrot, hard boiled eggs and cottage cheese. Refrigerate and use within 3-4 days. They really do prefer rainwater or failing that boiled cooled water. Me too. i haven't drank tap water for over 40 years.

Some great Linen finds! Most people only used them for special occasion, if ever, so many vintage linens are like new at the second-hand stores.

Our Vet uses holistic approach - he studied with Rosemary Gladstar. We feed our dogs raw meat and bones. Chicken feet are a fav treat. I make dog cookies from pumpkin, ground pumpkin seed(keeps worms away) and peanut butter. They are def. part of the family - spoiled! Jazz and Brock certainly have the good life! Happy, healthy dogs.

They are so sweet! I have cats now, and have had for the last 30+ years. Have had my share of dogs, usually large ones. I take care of my cats the same as you do the dogs. They get both wet food and high quality dry. They get only the shots mandated by law here- 1 rabies shot every 3 years. I take them to the vet for a yearly exam or when there is a problem. All of my furbabies have lived to 15+ years , except one, we think he had a stroke early on. They are strictly indoor cats living a very loving pampered life.😊

As a dog trainer and owner of a number of dogs Terri this is a good video.The dog meat trade is a racket! Offal is the best food you can feed a dog and the recent ‘raw diet’ that owners are switching to is the reason that the butcher’s etc are not letting us have the ‘off cuts ‘ It’s worth more money to them through selling to the ‘raw diet ‘ manufacturers.I give my dogs a large RAW knuckle bone from my butcher when available for them to knaw on to get rid of the tartar on the teeth (which incidentally appears more frequently if a dog is on a dried kibble diet) It also purges the system and is a natural thing for a dog as it would do in the wild .I use diatomaceous earth on and in my animals food including chickens.Its a very natural product that is good for digestion and also prevents fleas and red mites in hens.I dust liberally on animals and housing and where my hens are concerned I’ve never had redmite! Hello! I so live watching your fur babies play. I agree, I do not take my cats to the vet. I don't trust a lot of the ones we have here in the U.S. and it is so hard to find a cat only vet. I have stopped giving my cats tap water. They now only get filtered water. A holistic vet my Chiropractor takes his dogs to, said she has never seen all the heart issues and other diseases she has seen since rona (covid) was released. She thinks a lot of the issues are stemming from the water. So, I give them filtered water and watch carefully what I feed them. My mother-in-law rescued papillons and always got the fresh ground left overs from the butcher. I have not been successful in getting my cats to eat raw fresh ground meat. It is so wonderful to see your babies thriving. It makes my heart feel good! Thank you for all you do here and for sharing. ❤😊🙏

I give organic honey to my doggy to strengthen inmune system. Exactly, camomile is miraculous for them!💙 Right now I am giving to my little female dog a mixture of propolis, equinacea and thyme for urine problems and she is doing really well.

I have a lovely selection of vintage hand made linen hookback hand towels with hand made lace trim they are treasures of a different variety. No matter how many times they are washed still lovely and white, times when to have the linen drying in the sun light was a joy to see, I like to keep up the tradition. I am totally with you. Our cats don’t get any shots. Our puppy just is getting the major ones. Till she was 3 now she won’t be getting any more. Just because of the fact we have so much wild life where we live. We are even planting her own garden this year. ❤❤

I give my greyhound Madge bottled spring water to drink, and would never give her tap water. I would not drink tap water either, as it makes me sick if I do! She is terrified of the vets, after having a dew claw pulled out. So she will not let one anywhere near her. This makes things difficult, as she will not let anyone cut her claws! We walk on the roads every day, so am trying to keep them down this way, but they are still way too long. xxx

We used to have a holistic vet near us but he passed away last year and they haven't found someone to replace him yet. I had a Border Collie when my daughter was young and they are ridiculously smart! We had to get creative with spelling things, we couldn't spell walk or leash or out; she figured out what that was. LOL Your boys are beautiful, I love watching them play together while you work.

Hello there dear terri, doggies too.im late to watch today, been several days with a friend and her 2 youngsters,11 and 6 csme to visit for afew days, left for home this afternoon, she is the daughter of my very dear friend who passed on a year ago.was very poorly, she was such a dear friend, bout a 3 hour journey bsck home for them,,im relaxing now for this evening and tomorrow .im worn out but been lovely and special. Oh my we had storm Kathleen, (my mums name Kathleen).,well what a delightful lovely pair of dogs,they always shine brightly,super healthy looking dogs..we still miss our bearded collie cross,he was z rescue from young,he lived to 17,our cat we had also he passed on at 17 a year later, i just have my garden girls 🐔 now.we shall see what may come along.thankyou for shareing your healthy ideas for dogs.i agree so many dogs do have the wrong food s,their owners think they are being kind, but they get so unhealthy. I love the fact we are awakening to treating our pups as we would ourselves! There are many tisanes we can brew for them, as for ourselves. I have wormwood, good grief, taking over a part of my herb garden. Time to hack it back, dry some and make way for others.

I started my dog Bobby a Labrador Retriever (3 years old in July) on a raw food diet two years ago and I have never looked back (raw chicken with bones, beef mince and lambs liver plus minced veg carrots and cabbage). His weight is perfect and his coat is shining. He gets a small handful of pumpkin seeds every morning and he has never had any parasites. For an upset tummy Slippery Elm - works a treat.

Your dogs look really healthy and energetic. Many people feed dogs raw carnivore diet, for example raw minced chicken minced with the bones. Dogs can also choose the herbs that heal them :)

Thank you Terri for sharing. We only have a cat now, also hens and goldfish in an outside pond. Our last wee Jack Russell died few years back. The cat is the same, loves to drink the rain water from the containers. When my oldest daughter used to have a pony it only drank from the stream in our field, they know the natural rain water etc is best. Xx

Thank you for this post Danu. I was one of those who asked about the dogs and it was great to have your 'take' on taking care of them using a maybe more natural way of doing it. The dogs always look very happy and healthy and I'm sure they love living in the countryside and near the sea. I am very envious of that because we live in a large town where access to those things is difficult or non existent. Most of the time the dogs are on leads, which is not ideal, but we can't risk them running in the road and getting hit by a car or worse. My dog is a one year old terrier, very much like Brock to look at and he's always willing to rush about chasing leaves or blossom. His favourite occupation is digging!

Hello to you, Lol and of course Jazz and Brock.. I've always loved watching your dogs flit about while you chat. I was always a dog person and until 5 yrs ago, I had 4. I'm sad to say they all got old at the same time and passed within a short span of one another. We decided to take in ferals and stray cats from the area and have 5 cats now so I fear my dog days are past me. I do petsit for dogs and it brings back many happy memories. I agree about the Vets and I also used herbal remedies. Nice to see what you got at the charity shops and I always appreciate your work. Many blessings to you always dear Terri. Also I would add that pumpkin is great for the stomach as well as sweet potatoes. rice powder will help with diarrheic issues. mixed in with their food. When they were puppies we gave them vitamin E and some good for the bones and joints vitamins, so they would develop well, but we also gave them fish oil and cocoanut oils in their food for coat shine. We feed them really high quality food that does not have a bunch of cheap fillers in it, less poop in the yard too, because they are not eating stuff that goes right through them. They are large dogs and we wanted to ensure they did not tend towards hip problems even though the breeder had them tested for it. Turmeric and ginger will be really good for the joints. Apple cider vinegar is really good for them. Wormwood is not as easy to judge, so sometimes less is better. We do give them dry food, but they get a lot of jerky and meats from what we use. One of their favorites is sardines in their food. The biggest thing is that they get a lot of different things so they can get the micro nutrients and minerals. I think that a lot of issues many have with dogs start with them being bored or lonely all the time, but I get it that people have to work. it is what it is on that part. That is also why they need a buddy or two so they do not get neurotic. Your kids love you and it shows.

Interesting information Terri, thank you! I love your embroidered cloths too. Unfortunately I had to donate a lot to charity after my Mum died as my siblings didn't want any and I didn't have the room to store the amount my Mum had embroidered/been gifted by her friends. I kept my favourites though. 🥰 Can I ask if you would consider doing a similar themed episode for cats? I've read that so many plants are poisonous to cats if ingested. Unfortunately my rescue cat refuses to eat anything other than dried food & he deigns to lick the gravy off 2 varieties of commercial cat food. I've tried feeding him raw cat food, steamed, human grade cat food and even cooked organic chicken and fish on (rare) occasions, but no, he's not interested and even retches when he goes to the bowl! I dread to think what happened to him before I got him and what he was fed on as a younger cat (they thought he was around 5 years old when I got him nearly 4 years ago.) I've tried gradually introducing different foods to no avail, and was advised by 1 company to remove all other food so he would eventually eat theirs - he didn't. He would rather starve himself than eat something he doesn't consider food. 😪 Thankfully I've found a small German company who creates biscuits from 'crisp dried' chicken and fish, so it is 83% meat and no wheat or pea fillers which my cat has acquiesced to eat. I dread to think what the gravy off the commercial food and other biscuits have done to his digestion system though! Any herbal tips would be appreciated - as he's also a very nervous/anxious cat and hadn't been outside until he came to me. He does enjoy chasing birds and rodents (unfortunately) but even on the rare occasion that he kills them, he doesn't attempt to eat them (thankfully!) He just enjoys bringing them into the house alive 😹🙈

We have two dogs, Herbie and Daisy. Both are corgis. I have had many different dogs over the years that have lived to very old age. Always feed the best I can, lots of fresh when possible and stay away from vets as much as possible here in the states. One thing that Herbie does that I have not seen with my other pets is in the Spring he will pick dandelion flower first and then the leaves when there are no flowers. Of course he is a grass eater also. Life would not be so much fun without our dogs. Thanks.

Terri .- add fresh fruit into their diet since dogs are omnivore and the fruit is alkalizing and excellent for them and may help with digestive issues. My dog loved blueberries especially. :-) Love watching your healthy dogs run and play in your beautiful garden.

Good morning Terri! My favorite Sunday morning coffee friend. I have just started herbs for my dogs. Have used herbal wormers for my dairy goats for years. Really like what you feed. Going to change that for sure. I no longer give vaccines to any of my animals either. They have been linked to increased diseases like cancer, diabetes and shortened life span. Your channel really helps us take back charge of our lives!!

Have you by any chance seen the documentary about Juliette de Baracli Levi (I can't spell her name) but she was an amazing herbalist for animals and children. Her book The Herbal Handbook for the Cat and the Dog is highly recommended. She also has one for the horse and stable. Your videos are one of my chilled Sunday favourites so thank you!

I have Basset Hounds and I agree I never feed my dogs dry food , it will kill there kidneys, my dogs get , meat, rice and even milk , because the bs don’t feed your dogs milk is bad ,intolerance for milk sugar, but as with humans so also with animals some are allergic and others are not. Also they eat all the left overs veggies, potatoes, some gravy over it , and my dogs live a long life and love it. And of course they get snacks😊 your dogs look happy and healthy ❤️ love the film again , looking forward of one about cats 😻

D black fella reminds me of r family dog, Milo, we lost just before Xmas last, he'd want to shake ur hand & lean against u ❤ he was coughing up bile for wks before & d vets just kept giving him meds that didnt seem to do anything until he was so weak, he had to b put down 😢

I totally agree with your attitude to animal health. My pony is 34 in acouple of weeks. Never had a vaccine in his life. Any injuries and ailments I treat with herbs. I'm lucky I have good grazing with plenty of hedgrow plants for him to eat. He's loving the cow parley and cleavers right now. Both good for digestive health and expelling worms. x

Hiya Terri, appreciate all the tips, and will be using now that I know. Similar to yours we don’t run to the vet when Poppy is poorly ex upset belly., who can afford it ? I do give her a daily dose of cbd oil she is a10 year old rescue Doberman. She does get raw bones, from supermarket,pricey dry food,and some raw veggies of the day. Of course the odd treats. Love these guys! They’re just so mesmerising & fun to watch, I also feel the same about vets, most instances especially with my cats they never know what’s wrong so it’s gruelling months of stress for them back and fore in a car, multiple harmful chemical drugs, when sometimes all they needed was a more natural approach (have witnessed this multiple times) all my cats have been treated for ailments with natural remedies now and I’d never go back to chemical remedies. Thanks for this video it’s well needed, the thing is humans panic but we forget that given the right conditions they “and us” can thrive ✨ many blessings all x

I always get comments when I say I don’t want to vaccinate my dogs more, (both had one Parvo shot and I regret even that one shot) I give pumpkin seeds once or twice a week in the spring and fall to help expel / kill worms but like the idea of giving them wormwood. Thank you for the information on dogs. I try to make fresh dog food when I have the time. Here in NH USA we have to get their rabies shots when due because the vet sends the info to the city and they have to be licensed and up to date on that vaccine. silly because our 2 little Chihuahuas don't go anywhere except around our 1/2 acre which is plenty for them, in the winter they hardly step foot outside. I have been feeling quite scammed every year paying for the heartworm test then a fortune for heartworm preventative, and the other vaccines they receive too! It's very expensive and most likely unnecessary.
