Is the sound quality worse on this versus the 500 ? I need a smaller more portable version to bring along .. Used the 500 on really big parties and it sounded just perfect, as good as any expensive pioneer other guys are using ..
Only problem is the filter/Fx is terrible and I can’t see anything in the dark thanks to the tiny light in the buttons. I wish someone makes transparent text so light can pass thru. Other than that it’s excellent.
Phillllll!!! Been waiting for your review of this baby since they announced it early Jan. Very well done and to the point as always. Are the pads more rigid plastic or softer rubber ish material? Thanks for continuing to spread the knowledge mate 👊🏻
Excellent review. Knowledgable and concise. Great job mate. Can I ask, will this unit work with software other than Serato and Djuced? I'm asking about Virtual DJ in particular. Thanks.
Hey, great vid! I’ve thought about getting into djing and am leaning between either getting the dj control impulse 300 or the ddj 200. I can get the ddj 200 from a friend for a hundred bucks cheaper, but at the same time, it looks like it lacks many of the features the Hercules one has and I don’t have a problem spending the extra 100. I guess I’m just wondering if you think I should save the 100 to get some program or library, or if I should just go with the Hercules?
I ended up getting this controller a week ago, nifty little unit. For the same money spent I feel I should have probably gone with the Numark mixtrack pro FX. The effects paddles and varied buttons would've been better choice for me. I feel you can get the visual feedback of the beat matching etc easily from a program like virtual dj (which is what I've been using due to having an ancient laptop). Still a good unit, for the same money though (at least in australia) the pro fx would be my recommendation.
I have the 300 and love it! Only thing that let's it down is the tight jog wheels so you're not able to back spin etc. Does the mk2 version have better jog wheels so back spin is possible?
I have bought a secondhand one for home and for me this is what lets it down aswell. Other than that I believe its a good usable controller for my retro gigs. I honestly tho only use the back spin about 3 or 4 times maximum at a gig so not the end of the world I suppose and will do for home use
Really appreciate your channel. Other than changing some cosmetics and this having Serato capability, I can't really tell what's different about this v the original 300, have I missed anything? I believe I can activate STEMS in djuced so I'm wondering if I'd be fine picking up the original.
I have a an old Hercules controller that I'm trying to replace. I have Virtual DJ Pro, do you know whether any of the Pioneers you suggested in your video would work with Virtual DJ Pro?
You can but if only using with headphones. you do not have the ability to listen to your cued track and playing track at different volumes without using the channel faders
@@digitaldjtips yeah I know it’s the feature of serato that was added to the mk2’s so wasn’t limited to dueced but the 200 has a dedicated stems button unless on the 300 it’s shift and another button?
Have had the first inpulse 300 for a few years and usually DJ at home quietly. Never needed speakers attached to be able to DJ in just my headphones. So I'm not sure how this is an issue with the MK2
@@digitaldjtips right and I understand that, but from the sounds of it you can't with this one? With the older model, all you would have to do is ensure the 'master' button was enabled with the 'master' volume set to the lowest, but the 'headphones volume up. The MK2 looks too have the same setup fundamentally. Am I missing something?
I’m a fairly happy owner of the Hercules DJControl Mix. I use it with Algoriddim djay. A couple of complaints about that tiny unit: because it has no audio outs, there is no way I’ve found to get four channel audio out on iPad with USB-C. Even if you power the controller from your iPhone phone using a string of adapters, then connect it to the iPad via Bluetooth, you have to plug your iPad into another four channel interface to get stereo out plus headphones. By the way, do you have any recommendations for a 4-channel interface that can be powered by iPad via USB-C? Ironically, by carrying this tiny 1kg controller, I have to use my 2.2 kg Mac to DJ instead of my 1 kg iPad. (That is not a problem on the controller featured in this video, since it has audio outs) Second, while the pitch controls, and filter and bass knobs are accurate on my DJControl Mix unit, the volume controls of the tracks are mismatched. Setting the volume to the same level visually, if it’s not 100%, will make one track louder than the other. Worse, ditching the volume knobs and relying on the crossfader doesn’t solve your problem because the center point in software doesn’t align with the hardware center / the center mark on the controller. For both volume and crossfader, you have to watch the level in software while you use them, which is barely better than manipulating them in software to begin with. What makes me really excited about the unit featured in this video is seeing eight 8-mode performance pads with a shift button on each deck for $200. That’s got to be wonderful for mashups, STEMS, instant FX, and looping/bouncing! I’m into it!
DJControl Mix is intended to operate wireless, without connecting to the smartphone connector,, that's why there is no built in audio. To connect to the iPad USB-C connector and get 4-channel audio, I would rather use DJC Starlight, whose size and controls are the same as DJC Mix, but whose USB connection provides 4-channel built in audio.
If we tested every controller with every potential software platform we would do nothing else. This is marketed as a Serato controller, hence we used Serato. Thanks for your feedback though.
@@digitaldjtips And could not guess that there are a lot of VDJ users? They also want to see how it works with VDJ. Who forbids you to show multiple programs for one controller?
Yes, we know how many Virtual DJ users are in our community - about 12%. We do not have time to review every controller with every software platform. We didn't ever have time to review this one with DJUCED, the other platform provided for free "in the box". Sorry if you feel we aren't serving you correctly, but as I said to you previously, we do not have the time to do everything.
@@djstuc this is NOT a pro equipment,is for home use, too many times we are all forced to ONLY use headphones at home! so your comment is completely invalid! it is one of the absolutely basic things that should NOT be missing from any dj controller.
@@spirosbulk The controller has a Master push button below the headphones volume, so you press on Master to play Master in the headphones, as usual. The DDJ-Rev1 controller also controls the headphones source in the same way, and before it the DDJ-SB3.
I have the Inpulse 300 and it works like this: Using the Headphones Master button to ear the master in Headphones plus using a Headphone CUE button at the same time is just like Having the CUE/MIX set to middle position. Also, Hercules sends the Master to headphones in Hardware mode when you push Master button, so you can watch this video with your headphones with your controller.
