I mean, technically Meg met the requirements of becoming a God, at least in the movie. She became a true hero by not only initially deciding to go against Hade's wishes and risk losing her freedom, but also ended up dying to save Hercules. She put her own wants and needs aside and prioritized helping someone else. So, for real Zeus needs to pay up.
+Not a Pro Actually, thats a translation issue. The "Kidnapping of Kore" is actually one of the stages of marriage. Hades asked Zeus for her hand, and was told yes. When the 'kidnapping' happened, Kore decided to stay in the Underworld, because she was treated with far greater respect. Her mother freaked tf out, and killed the Earth until Kore returned. Kore liked her husband more, and decided to stay. Zeus got pissed and would have forced her back to Olympus, but she had eaten six pomegranate seeds, which meant she had to return. Because of all the trouble she caused, Kore was renamed Persephone.
omg the "m'gara" joke hit me too good 😂 I didn't watch this movie when I was younger, I only just watched it like a year or 2 ago. But, the music is so. good! Also, hella sassy.
idk if anyone has said this but the bottle sound effect in the intro is so satisfying i love it so much it’s the best edited sound effect i’ve ever heard on a youtube video props to who made that sound fit perfectly w the bottle in the video
*me whenever they say hurcules* "HERCULES MULLIGAN A TAILOR SPYIN' ON THE BRITISH GOVERMENT I TAKE THEIR MEASUREMEMTS INFORMATION AND THEN I SMUGGLE IT
I saw this movie only like ten years ago. I have this very distinct memory of sitting in church as a child when the movie came out and the pastor telling the congregation not see this movie because it literal portrayal of Satan in it. So, you know, my childhood church was about as educated on Greek mythology as the creators of this movie. And to be real, I can't think of anywhere I saw more (actual) literal portrayals of Satan than my church. Also, Oliver and Company.
Baby Dab well, technically if this was the Greek myth, I believe instead of Hercules, it would be Heracles, since Zeus named him that, almost to appease Hera. The setting is more Greek than Roman(obviously), but the name is the Roman version of the myth.
You should have drunk when something WAS accurate to the myths. I mean there are so occasions like the tasks Hercules does and the god that changes night and day with his wagon and Cerberus etc.
+Alien Hitch Hiker I'd use my immortality to torture her for the rest of her natural life and then for the rest of eternity. I may be a little vindictive.
Yes! This is my favorite Disney movie and Meg's my favorite Disney character :) I laughed probably too hard at "'Your beard is so twisted' 'Like a nipple.'" James, I feel your pain with the body image feelings, but for what it's worth we all think you look great!
Here’s a fight I want to see: Zeus and Hades vs Thor and Loki Also, here’s a fun fact: In that last scene at the gates of Mount Olympus, one of the gods in the crowd is Ganymede, Zeus’ cupbearer and consort (the brown-haired guy with the wings). Pretty bold move there, Disney!
Hercules was my jam as a kid, used to watch it, Peter Pan and Rescuers Down Under in Japan all the time. Awesome job you guys, and I vote for The Black Cauldron.
Hercules is one of my favourite Disney movies I'm so happy you watched it. the somebody call IXII is one of my favourite jokes... I didn't get it until like the 11th grade. Also when they gave Hercules the formula to turn him into a mortal he said "have some Grecian formula"
James becomes self-conscious when Liann toasts to receding hairlines. It looks fine, James. I agree that this movie borrowed heavily from Superman more than the actual Heracles legend. In this version, Hercules came from 'outer space,' was adopted by earthlings, didn't fit in in his small town because of his amazing abilities, talks to the ghost of his bio dad before he sets off to to pursue his destiny in the big city, meets up with a no-nonsense tough cookie, etc. I'm gonna pick THE RESCUERS even though I have a sinking suspicion that THE BLACK CAULDRON will take it because it's developed a cult following over the decades.
Hurrah!! Been awaiting this all day! :) loved it and your singing and dancing was super adorable! :) my vote is for the rescuers (not going to give it up!) And drink everytime something makes you so sad that you need a hug :(
+Madison Leigh Perkins well, just did the same thing, I'm in love with a concept I never know I needed! xD Keep the fun going, guys, you won the internet ! :D
Didn't Hercules just have to restore his god-ness? Like, he still had two godly parents and a drop of the potion undrunk, so that's why he could become a god again
So I've definitely binge-watched all of your videos more than once. And my favorite mistake from this movie (because Disney made the movie of Hercules in the Greek form) is when Hercules saves Hades' two henchmen or whatever from being crushed from that rock, and one of the henchmen shouts "call IX-I-I!" which is Roman, event though in the movie everyone is Greek. So... you know. Just a fun fact, and funny joke that people miss in Hercules.
The Ricky Martin edit was very much needed, thx for providing ✌🏼 Love you guys, keep up the shenanigans. @LiannKaye was such a great guest. NIPPLES EVERYWHERE!
Love these videos! I’m a little late to the party, but you guys are a blast! Making quarantine a little more bearable. Love your kill counts too, James! Thanks for all the fun and smart commentary on both channels.
Cass7191 We wish so too! But life gets in the way. That's why we always try to give you guys a few months out of the year where we up the frequency of releases, like we did in March with 3 episodes in 6 weeks.
Practical Folks I wish these came more frequently, too. I understand though. My life's gotten insanely busy in the last couple of months. Good to see you all seem to be doing okay, though! Much love.
