Such a fun movie! I love the part where Arnie is on a date with the girl & he clumsily nearly trips over , & the fact they left it in! Thanks Val Verde crew

Talking about movies depicting old New York, one I'd really love It Ain't Broke to do is The Warriors.
@johncody6404
@johncody6404 6 лет назад
That's a great shout; the Warriors is probably one of the best depictions of New York from that era.
@benjammin8184
@benjammin8184 6 лет назад
And "Kids". A bit newer New York, but if we are talking about the tone and atmosphere it's worth a shout out. Especially the street scenes and the subway etc.
@johncody6404
@johncody6404 6 лет назад
@@benjammin8184 Kids would be an interesting choice, particularly as I think Harmony Korine said the film was almost autobiographical in parts which is pretty disturbing.

What do you think about Stay Hungry (1976)? That also seems to be a overlooked Arnold film despite costarring Jeff Bridges and Sally Field... and Robert Englund!

Arnie won The Golden Globe for Best Newcomer for that. Clearly they were conveniently forgetting Hercules (and Arnie's bit part in Robert Altman's The Long Goodbye).

I first saw this on ITV TELETHON 92, ITVs answer to Children in Need. Viewers were given a choice of 2 films to vote for, not by title but by who stared in them. Hoping for Terminator or Predator I made my donation. I was the Child in Need that night.

Great video guys! A warm soothing reprise of the silly humour and random tangents, a why-not-into-Bodger-And-Badger was esp welcome. Twins feels quite a bit like a semi-remake, what with Arnie playing a God Like Man, who arrives in America for the first time, and keeps running into schlubby American characters. He's also something of an innocent, and who often talks in literal sentences, or strange sounding uses of English. Thor (2011) plot-wise seems like a more serious remake of Hercules In New York!
@neilhutchinson4545
@neilhutchinson4545 6 лет назад
I was thinking exactly the same thing about the Thor movie, although Hercules seems like even more of a dick in his film. The version with Schwarzenegger's voice is a work of art, though possibly more of a Jackson Pollack than a Leonardo Da Vinci?
@tko4051
@tko4051 6 лет назад
lol I love early Arnold, he always had that look of complete exhaustion on his face. His acting, his delivery - all exhausted bare minimum of emotion. After this movie he got himself together and realized he actually had to commit to acting classes because audiences don't like dead eyed meatheads who are unintelligible.

In a timeline where Arnie never became a star, RedLetterMedia and you guys would have discovered Hercules in New York as a lost gem of fantastically terrible film making, similar to The Room or Samurai Cop. Then Arnie would have spent the 2010s doing the convention circuit, promoting his five minutes of fame as a retired real estate and bodybuilding millionaire :)

Also, Arnold Stang (who played Pretzie) died in 2009 when he was 91! Might have looked unhealthy but had a good run. (Also, how weird is it that the movie starred two people, one called Arnold Stang and one called Arnold Strong? Did they intentionally give Arnie that last name for that reason? lol)

This movie is poorly written, acted, directed, and produced. Eliot McCann OK McCann I’ll be sure to not doing anything but speak in a monotone fashion from here on out, just for you. No more standing out of the crowd for me. No more trying. Rather astute of you to ignore the entirety of the rest of the video too. Bravo sir, bravo 🤨
@davidjames579
@davidjames579 6 лет назад
Eliot McCann Since it's a skill he has, and is funny and inventive (it's not like: "and now for my Arnold Schwartzenegger impression: Hello, I'm Arnold Schwartzenegger. Now my Michael Caine") then why shouldn't he? Along with Richard and Duncan's style of humour, it's an essential and unique part of the channel. You may not like it, but I think most people do. It'd be a great loss if he stopped doing it. If you don't like it, just turn the volume down when he does one, and turn it back up when he's finished. It'll make the video more interactive.
