My grandmother use to use blueing liquid on her white clothes and sheets they always came out so white and clean and crisp because we hung them on the clothes line outside. The good old days. 💜
Cheaper route: Dawn dish soap (the blue kind) White distilled Vinegar Hydrogen peroxide Nothing works better and it won't get scum build up on the inside of your washing machine!
@@krystalanders9942 white distilled vinegar, hydrogen peroxide and dawn dish soap! You can also use baking Soda not powder and mix all of the above into a paste and let sit overnight! Or make into a soup and let the jacket marinade lol 😭
Most use a magnet around the edge of the lid I'd just get somthing small and made of steel to find where it is, see where it lines up when it closes and put a magnet up to the the sensor. Been doing it for years.
I did some research and found that hard water is corrosive to threads and material. Our machines and plumbing suffer as well. A water softeners makes everything last longer
I hope you've found the Dharma Trading Company detergent I suggested before. It's specially formulated to strip out dirts and oils that regular laundry detergent can't get out. That's also what makes whites look dingy.
I have 6 children from ages 15 to 1, a 7th coming, a large dog, and a husband...and I have white towels! Just get them if that's what you want, the advice here is solid. That said, I do have a top loading machine (although mine doesn't have an agitator), so I'm able to use bluing.
In Pakistan and India a bluing liquid or powder has been used for as long as I can remember. The powder is more popular, although I can never mix it properly to avoid stains, so I prefer liquid.
I always used bluing to bathe my white cats!!! Their fur came out such a beautiful white. I never thought of putting it in my wash because I thought it was only for natural fiber like hair, cotton, or linen.
My top loading machine that came with house won’t start until lid is locked. Would love to pre-fill and soak, but nope! The engineers don’t know basics about laundry. Next machine I will look for a top loader without the agitator but so I can pre-fill water.
I hacked this one lol for video purposes. It didn’t come like this I took the little lever that’s in the lid … unscrewed it and put it in the bottom piece and leave it there. Sometimes I have to take it out and put it back in for the washer to start but it works for me lol
It’s basically a blue solution you use to get the yellow/ orange out of white clothes using the color wheel. The idea is also used in makeup, hair, ect. Basically look at the color wheel and find the opposite color on the color wheel to cancel out the color you want to get rid of, so think green concealer on red pimples to cancel it out. You basically add the blue liquid to the water so it looks whiter because if applied directly it can stain the clothes because it needs to be diluted. Idk if that made sense but I tried 😅
Blue cancels out yellow. Which makes whites look like a bright white instead of a dingy yellowish tone. It’s not a cleaner it’s literally dye but you HAVE to dilute it like she did. She was a bit messy with it but it worked out. Blueing has been around for centuries. It’s similar to those blue/purple shampoos that people use after bleaching their hair.
Bluing liquid has been in use for years. It was weird to me too when I first heard about it, how could something blue make things white but somehow it does🤷🏽♀️if you’re gonna try it, PLEASE PLEASE do it like the girl does in the video, dilute it in water PRIOR to putting in the machine. If not, you clothes WILL get stained and the stain may not come out. Yup, it’s that strong. The kind i use is called bluette. I comes in many sizes and a little cheaper than the one she used in the video and a little secret, once the bottle is finished, you could refill it with water shake it up, and you have a whole new bottle to use😉
@@carlaamanda86 they also sell the equivalent of bluing liquid to make your teeth whiter- it’s a purple dye that stains your mouth so your teeth look whiter. Every time I see it I think about hair stylists using lavender dye to make bleached hair look less brassy
Me either for clothes but now that I think about it it’s the same with our dog who uses blue shampoo when he’s looking yellow and after his fur looks so bright and white. Same like blondes and their purple/blue shampoos
My oxiclean doesn’t clean like that. I have the one in the blue tub for stain removal. Maybe I should get that one and mix them. Btw it doesn’t fight stains that well either lol.
Use the extra strength spray oxiclean with a mix of peroxide in hot water. Scrub stubborn spots. Let it sit over night then toss in the washer as normal with detergent and use bluing or baking soda or the oxi powder- whatever you like.
Work with it until you figure something out. There should be a way to Jimmy something in there to trick it that it’s closed and then remove it when you’re ready to close the lid
I have the same blueing liquid and on the instructions it says to add to the last rinse cycle and I swear it never works! So should I do it beforehand?
Forget the blue liquid! Dawn dish soap (the blue one) just a drop Distilled white vinegar 1/3 cup Hydrogen peroxide 1/3 cup It's the magic recipe! All the other stuff will cause scum build up in your washing machine!
@@mellostation I honestly use it for everyday laundry I just use half the amount of laundry detergent! I work doing housekeeping for a few hotels so this is my laundry recipe. I occasionally will swap peroxide for bleach since you can’t mix the 2.
The blue liquid definitely is just for whites and I would just use normal oxyclean instead of the one she used because it’s probably not color safe and normal oxyclean works well on it’s own.
After you fry and set in stains I recommend pretreating for a longer time or letting it soak if you want to send some pix You can find me on ig, same name and I can help through there🌸
OK, but I soak in Borax. Bluing is not new, my Grandma used it. I'd use Persil, a European Laundry Detergent. Using White Distilled Vinegar in the rinse takes the stink away. Good for you having an agitator. These things are long lasting and do the job. Clean it every 4 months and you can "Will" it to your Grandkids. 😅🤣😂
Persil laundry soap is the absolute BEST!! It’s all I have used over the last 5 years and I absolutely love it over Tide, Gain or any other soap!! It smells so clean too!!!
Not an easy decision lemme tell ya. I just purchased a new one after my top loader gave way after 25-30 years, I nearly cried that machine was the bomb, just too small for the loads I needed to get done for my size family. After a few months of doing research and shopping around for the best prices, I ended up getting the biggest sized front loader with the strongest spin cycle. My only complaint is I miss the submersion of water that my clothes used to get. Other than that, clothes come out clean and dry (I’ve learned how to tinker with it to get the results I want) and spends less time with in the dryer. If I had the space, I’d still get a top loader, just for certain loads. Also, the front loader is more gentle on clothes. Hope this helps. It was torture for me the months without a washer and researching to learn them all. When I went to the big box stores, they wanted to hire me for all the knowledge I was sharing with them about the machines 😂
Why don’t you use hot water when you do your whites?? I do the same thing only I use hot water .. am I missing something? I was just always taught this growing up to use hot water when doing whites..Please and thank you in advance
NOTE: My Grandma used to not use any chemicals on her clothing. To get her whites brilliantly BRIGHT white, she would put 1 pair navy blue pants or top in with the whites! Wash & Dry!
love it 56 mother of 7, (22 to 36, the older ladies in my life told me about it, and I love to wear white, n kids look like good kids in white 😂 a cap r 2 depending on how big the load
First, you need an old agitator style washing machine. We wouldn't need all of these additives. It would beat the crap out of dirt. Never give yours up!
Thank you… Never want to mix Oxi and bleach very dangerous 🌸 but if you prefer to use just bleach that’s okay…. I just think They can yellow faster but do whatever works for you🌸🌸 my dad uses bleach faithfully
@@lifewithsydneyx6684 i fill the wash tub w/ hot water 💧, I put gain powder for whites, rt? Then I put a good scoop of oxiclean, i guess about a cup of bleach🤔, hmmmm maybe 3/4ths, I just pour some in, jeez! It foams. Toss the whites in and DAMNNNNNNN. I LOVE IT!. Nothing ever happened. EVER! 😆😅🤣😂😊
