Please do the first oil change before 1000 miles. My wife just got a 2024 and at 650 miles the oil was full of "glitter" from engine break-in wear.

I've had my Touring about 6 months and only about 1200 miles on it. The dealer highly recommended changing. Glad I saw this post and had it changed. I'll do every 5,000 miles or 6 months as this is very thin oil. I will start putting more miles on the car when retiring at the end of the year as this will be my primary daily vehicle.

That’s awesome! They’re worth the wait. I’m actually not allowed to share the specific discount I was given, but I will say there should be some negotiation room to lower the price from the first price quote the dealer will likely give you. You could also call a few dealers one after another to see if they’ll beat your current best price. Best of luck!!

Similar story…My wife and I bought new a 2012 Forester Premium and it now has 73k on it. I figure about 45k-50k is from road trips to the ocean, Mt. Rushmore, Indianapolis and such. Her work commute is very short as well. We love “exercising” the Subaru. I still love the styling. I bought it to keep it forever. Might add a new one someday to share the garage, but won’t get rid of my 2012. 😊
@AutomotiveAnonymous208
@AutomotiveAnonymous208 10 дней назад
Yeah, exactly lol. Short work commute and we use to drive it a lot for traveling when my daily driver was a less efficient Tacoma. But now with our more safe Outback we haven’t risked it as much driving the older smaller and turbo’d sedan. I think a NA Subaru is much safer and more reliable even if it doesn’t get driven as much as the old car and I’m less concerned with this one sitting around in the garage a lot. But I have a feeling we’ll start to gravitate more to this as our main commuter now haha.

I saw your other video on this newest Forester, in Premium trim, had the lighter cloth (various shades of gray) interior, which I really liked. I was surprised to see that you opted to go dark on the interior. I think the lighter gray added a good look to the dash.
@AutomotiveAnonymous208
@AutomotiveAnonymous208 10 дней назад
Yeah, that one was nice! I actually didn’t think much about interior color when we reserved this one. The whole focus was White premium with blind spot, that I didn’t even look at the interior color listing because this was the only white premium in the first batch to arrive haha. I think lighter colors are happier colors, but with all the light that makes its way into the cabin I think the black seats do look nice and will hopefully not show too much dirt! 🤷‍♂️🙂
@ofcbob6391
@ofcbob6391 10 дней назад
@@AutomotiveAnonymous208 Are your seats really black, or more of a dark gray? In the video it looks more of a medium/dark gray. I know you plan to tint those front windows, have you considered having the top, maybe 6 inches or so, of the windshield done (while the tint shop has your Forester right there) ? I like that look and it keeps a good bit of the sun out of your eyes (you can go real dark with that).
@AutomotiveAnonymous208
@AutomotiveAnonymous208 10 дней назад
You’re right, they are just a shade of gray and definitely not a straight black. And I’ve looked into the tint strip, but the company I really like to take our cars to doesn’t like to tint that portion on eyesight cars. Probably just to not risk it in case of liability or any accident that could attempt to be blamed on the tint strip impairing the systems ability to function properly. 🤷‍♂️🤪

Hope you have many happy miles. I'm expecting my 25 white Forester Sport hopefully mid summer. Are you able to comment on the Active Grill Shutter. Thanks, and same to you! I finally saw a White Sport in person recently and it looked really good. Honestly, I didn’t know these had active shutters in the grill, I’ve never heard that. @@AutomotiveAnonymous208 I'm in Toronto, Canada. I believe active shutters ( in general) have been in use for several years in various makes. As for the Forester, I think they were already in use in the 2019 models. Shutters are temperature/computer controlled to operate when required to optimize engine warm up. That is all I know. Can you share thoughts on why you didn't wait for the hybrid version?
@AutomotiveAnonymous208
@AutomotiveAnonymous208 10 дней назад
Sure! It was mostly because there’s not enough information out on it yet. And the 1st and 2nd gen Crosstrek hybrid was one of a failure (huge heavy battery, hardly better range, same acceleration, huge price tag). I’m sure the new ones will be much more competitive with other hybrids. But also since in the past the vehicle this replaced doesn’t get a lot of mileage out on it might not be a cost savings to pay more for a hybrid that doesn’t get driven. And it was time, I was starting to get antsy to replace it before any major problems might start on it’s small turbo engine or incase of an accident as it just wasn’t as safe as this new Forester.
