After spending a full week with a brand new SQ5 I've found things that I like AND don't like! See what little or big things caught my attention for the audi SQ5 review! Check out the full review here: • Review: The Audi SQ5 i...
I agree with everything you said. I have the 2020 Q5 Premium Plus. the only thing I would add to your list is what I’ve come to understand is called the “turbo lag”. My car has this awful hesitation when accelerating from a stop.
I totally agree on that exhaust item. BMW and Mercedes don't fool around when it comes to exhaust tips. They're actually there and they actually have smoke and sound coming out of them. I have no idea what would possess Audi to put fake exhaust like that can't stand it. My wife wants to buy one of these I actually think I might take a Dremel and cut out the holes. :)
I took delivery of a 2019 SQ5 about a month ago in Des Moines and drove it back to NW Montana where I live. The big sunroof is pretty chilly when air temps are cold, and the screen moderates that and traps some warm air. The climate control system could have a higher fan setting. Man, the interior is quiet. I do like the ability to go from automatic modes to manual modes with the paddle shifters. I never use the auto start / stop, just turn it on and hit the button to disable that feature. It would be nice to be able to permanently disable it.
wow i completely agree with all that big panoroofs are so so bad in warm climate all they do heated up the car and its hard to find one without pano roof
I can see where that transparent sunroof could really be an issue if you live in a part of the country where it gets really warm for extended periods of time. The screen like cover makes no sense to me. Just replace it with a full black out cover.
You cannot get the ventilated seats with the quilted seats. The Warm Weather Package changes the seats to different seats. Also, the flat bottom steering wheel is now a thing of the past on the current SQ5.
I agree with you bro...sometimes the price is high up to 70k but is a looser to Toyota or honda, like my sister honda Odyssey with start engine from 3ft and it has all the life need in that vehicle.
Great review Nolan. Liked the 'dislikes' :-) Unfortunately they are now pretty common on many cars today (including my Tucson). Small issues can be very annoying. Keep up the great work. :-)
Still digging the looks of that thing. We got another one of these at the lot and the more I’m in it, I cannot help but think Audi’s are becoming too close overall to VW’s similar to how Acura’s feel too much like just a Honda.
Thank you! That’s correct. It will default to being on after you start it again. I’ve heard of people figuring out how to permanently disable those systems but I’m not sure how...
@@PrimeAutotainment Thank you for the response, really had my heart set on this but gotta scratch it off the list. Just found out the SQ5 is not designed where a tow hitch can be installed. I know people will think, why would you want a tow hitch on a SQ5? Well, going down to one car and I need one for the few times a year I need to tow something. Giving this info for anyone out there who might think after the fact you could have one installed only to find out you can't - and that is according to a private hitch and tow company I called locally and also spoke to an Audi service and parts rep who told me the SQ5 cannot have a hitch installed. If you're wondering about a regular Q5, yes, it can.
@@58HUSTLER No idea what you are talking about - totally wrong info and hitches are available from Audi OR 3rd party: www.audiworld.com/forums/q5-sq5-mkii-discussion-218/2019-q5-sq5-tow-hitch-not-available-2966368/page3/ come on man!
Have an 18 SQ5 and agree with your dislikes and likes. Dislike #6, cup holders are useless. I'd prefer if they got rid of the touch pad and used it for cup/phone holders. Other Audi's have the touch pad on the dial, for as little as I use the touch pad, that would be more than fine.
@@agc812 Yeah, based on comments, wondering if something is off with my car or my driving habit is to blame. I consistently get below 20mpg and at full tank I'm at 385 per tank. Never been able to get a full tank to 460 miles! But again, I drive like an a-hole both urban and suburban, in sport mode at all times, always fast lol. Never been able to average 24mph
I have 2018 SQ5 and here's more dislikes from me: 6. You have to smash the driver's door to close it. The dealer said it's allright, it's made for the durability and so on. 7. Virtual cockpit seems a bit useless for now, as it shows the same information just at a different places. You pick up one and never switch except when showing it to someone :) At least you can choose the best one, the overlay that suits you better 8. Same goes to the touchpad. Never gonna use it in my life. Thanks God you have a Carplay and never use the internal navigation. 9. You have to choose between the heated steering wheel and D-shape steering wheel. Why, Audi? 10. No wireless Carplay in your 70 000$ car. Never. This feature started just from new A6, A7, A8 and Q8. BUT the car is still awesome. Worth every penny. True Quattro True ZF transmission True dynamics, that outperforms factory specs
I opted for the heated round wheel. The flat bottom wheel looks great, but there’s really no need for it in the SQ5 like there was in my old TT. Still, it’s hard to understand why Audi couldn’t heat the flat bottom wheel in the SQ5.
I have a loaded 18 SQ5, the exhaust tips bugged me until I wash it or remember washing previous vehicles with chrome exhaust tips, brutal! I have a 15 RS5 Cab as well, it doesn’t really have tips either just a huge carbon fibre framed hole the pipes can be seen through (if you bend down & look) I wish they’d have done something similar with the SQ5, but maybe they were worried about exhaust fumes if you leave it running with the back hatch open?
Do you know if premium plus comes with ambient lighting or is it only on prestige models? I saw somewhere else in the comments that they only come on prestige sq5’s
S S this country (Canada) only has Progressiv & Techik, both have ambient lighting in the SQ5. The USA has the packages you are referring to. I should add ‘Progressiv’ is mid level trim and ‘Technik’ is the highest level trim.
yeah i dont know why audi doesnt give you cooled seats with the quilted leather but gives it to you in the A8. Stop start is annoying as, especially when parking, I literally pull up to my house to back in and the car shuts off. I had 4 audis where is the option for remote start shit I wish. Not even in the stupid Audi app that's completely useless.
@@PrimeAutotainment well yeah everyone offers them. Your point is that they are not standard equipment in the car to which my point is not really any other auto maker has them as standard equipment
The lighting and air suspension are unnecessary and require very expensive packages to get. I understand the reason for the air suspension but it's not necessary for the point of this car. An every day driver for someone who needs more room than the S4.
I have to 2019 Q5, and I have to blacked out fake exhausts in the rear. My tailpipe actually just curves down toward the road behind the bumper. Doesn't bother me though. I think the manufactures throwing dual exhaust on every vehicle on the road is rather ridiculous. It is not always about performance, such as on a vehicle that has a squirrel under the hood.
The auto start/stop will destroy the transmission in due time. My only like about Audi’s are their interior design. To me Audi’s are VW wrapped in wolves clothing 😬. Nolan I appreciate your thorough reviews and details your deliver 😁
I hate the screen hanging in the middle of the dash its retarded.. put the screen in the dash.. its not a living room. it looks like there is a ipad stuck on the dash.. in the middle of dash.. don't like it.. the rest is nice.. I have a 16 sq and that screen sucks too. its too small.. nice exhaust tips also..
this is the least impressive 70k “sport version” you could possibly spend on 4 wheels. maybe 5 to 8 years ago this SQ5 would have been impressive but not with everything out there from Alfa, Porsche, AMG and the rest. And I feel you on those fake exhaust tips...smh to eternity
The 1st generation sq5 was better looking and it had REAL exhaust tips, to me this looks too generic to be a member of the “S” stable and the fact you have a tablet stuck on top of the dash which doesn’t retract is just plain crazy, come on Audi you are losing the plot😫😫😫😫😫
