After spending 1 week testing the 2019 Hyundai Veloster Turbo Ultimate, I've come up with 5 main things I like, and things that I don't like.
I enjoyed driving this car and thought Hyundai did a good job making it fun, but the rattles, road noise, and rougher ride were enough to keep me personally from wanting to buy this car. However, there was a lot that I liked from it as well!

What’s your favorite or least favorite about the new Veloster?

I just bought a nice 2018 Honda Civic Coupe with only 6,400k miles on it. After testing the Veloster for 2 weeks, I liked the handling, interior was comfy but meh quality, very underpowered imo. Sports mode was annoying and the mpg was nowhere near the Civic, in which I get up to 39 even 45 in Eco Mode. Just not even in the same league really. But it was a (good) car. Also the CVT transmission in the Honda is just awesome. I did also like the 3rd door, and roomy back seat in the Veloster. That's about it. ;o)

Don't know why people harp on power seats. They add lots of weight and once you've set your perfect driving position how often do you need to adjust the seat?

That’s true. My wife and I sometimes have to switch vehicles and it gets annoying (although small issue). My biggest thing is that some of the adjustment notches were far enough apart to where I couldn’t find a happy middle ground when reclining the seat..and as the top trim people will expect power seats. I understand your angle though!

Buy a Honda Civic, I found a killer black 2018 Coupe with only 6,400 miles on it. The quality, ride, acceleration, CVT, look etc is all killer. I had a 2019 Veloster for 2 weeks, ditched it after the dealership let me test it. No regrets!! It wasn't horrid, but it was no Honda.

No rattles and super quiet interior (no tire noise whatsoever) from my 2013 VT The only dislike is the exhaust being too quiet even in sport mode. This 2nd gen much more like it 😊

I have a ‘19 Veloster Turbo Ultimate and so far I haven’t heard any rattling anywhere and the car is already past 5k miles. But I’m not really surprised with the rattling and road noise because it’s Hyundai and they make affordable vehicles. If y’all want a good car that doesn’t have any of that mentioned earlier, go for a higher trim or another manufacturer. May not be under 30k but hey that’s my opinion.

@@dopemuffinz1000 after owning it for a year in a half now, it’s still a great car. No issues or recalls at all. Really quirky and feels quick for the price. Not like super fast but it’s good for me.

Personally, I kinda hate powered seats. If you need to adjust them they are way too slow.

Remove the rear headrests for improved rear visibility.

Ride is softer than the old gen Veloster Turbo, I know I have it. The road noise is the tires, stock are always noises, mine are so loud. Yes it rattles mine started within a few months but the new gen is miles ahead of the old one.

I prefer manual operated seats. Faster to adjust. The Rspec is really the only model that makes sense given how much they charge for higher trims. A GTI seems better when ypumare near the $30k mark. Dislike that there is no lsd on the Rspec. If the Civic SI can have one, there is no excuse for the Velsoter Turbo to no have one. Otherwise a great car. I will say the lack of LSD is what kept me from signing on the dotted line. The N is more car than I need for a daily so a missed sale by Hyundai

All very well said! The LSD is definitely a must and makes a huge difference, I’m sure. I was surprised to see the Veloster N pricing was cheaper than I expected but still I know what you mean. Thanks for the input and for watching 👍

Hey man! That is really unfortunate about the rattles. I’m closing in on 60k miles on the Subaru and it’s still rattle free. I’d would hate to hear it as you pile on the mileage. I wonder if you are hear the rattles because of all the plastic used on the panels.?.

That’s great to hear! Love a rattle free vehicle. Good question...since it came from a few places it was hard to tell. The worst one seemed to be a legitimate crack that came from the headliner every time there was any twist or torsion on the car, Luke my driveway every time lol. It’s a bummer though

Now that you mention it, I had a 2012 Sonata that creaked every time I pulled out of the driveway. It was always from the sun roof area. 🤔 maybe a Hyundai thing....

Jonathan Schmidt crazy...it must be! The Hyundai Kona I Tested had a rattle or two also..not as bad but noticeable. Not good lol

Prime Autotainment Not good. I remember chalking it up to maybe it was just because of the big hole cut in the roof, but that’s 2 Hyundais now that you’ve experienced it in. I’m not an auto engineer, but maybe they need to put more reenforcement around the sunroof.

Should the 3 doors be a deal breaker ? I have 2 small children but for the price of the Veloster isn't all that bad what do u think?

I really don’t think the 3 door thing would be a big deal unless you’d have to put a car seat on both sides. Maybe see if you can take one home for a few hours or overnight and test it out with your kids 👍

They have made commercials about it, based on what i saw its so your passenger gets out curb side and not in street, just google it, their pretty funny.
