I met both of you guys in Moab but in 2018 or so. Roman was running the camera and Nathan was interviewing me (for TFLnow with my Lifted 11' Liberty) while zipping quickly through some of concept Jeeps. It was great to see how efficiently you guys work while still being friendly and genuine. This is without a doubt the best automotive channel on RU-vid and all the continuing hard work is evident over the years. Keep it up.

Never listen to car reviews from this channel or mostly all the channels similar to this one? You know why? They make money from you loving NEW tech. Meaning channels like this will never tell you NOT to buy the first three years of a vehicle. They also won't tell you, likely repair costs you will on a vehicle long term. These people and other channels like it, make money when you watch these new car videos. Car manufacturers benefit but they benefit too. So they are on the same side, for wanting you to invest in new tech. These channels will never tell you how the new Land cruiser is going to cost much higher to own than over a 5th gen 4runner. They aren't going to warn you about the increased oil changes needed for a turbo, maitenance, the fact that it will eventually fail, the need for a new battery later on, the cost of premium gas required, all these extra costs will negate any gas savings you get in a new LC over a 5th gen 4runner, guaranteed. Especially if you keep the LC long term. These channels will not make money off of you, if you are not hyped over new tech, period. They aren't going to tell you NOT to be a new Tundra, even though it has major issues. They make their money hyping up new tech. Never listen to these channels on what vehicles to buy. They will always tell you to buy the new stuff and hype it up.

Love all the TFL channels and personalities. I have 2 burning questions I hope you can answer in a future video. Why are automakers obsessed with using piano black inside cars. I absolutely hate it. And what ever happened to real bumpers that extend from the car body? Now we have flat grilles which are so easily damaged and expensive to repair, which increases insurance rates. Thank you.

@@glow4417 That's a complete lie. Andre and I always update our new vehicles. Costs, pluses and minuses along with all the issues. Incidentally, I ALWAYS tell people that I hate buying new cars. @@NathanDAdlen we could be talking in person, on here, it doesn't matter, I will say the same thing. Other outlets? I mainly watch TFL videos for car reviews. I also occasionally watch a couple other car review channels, overall they less as good as yours. And I watch the car care nut channel, one of the more honest channels. So I only watch a few. It doesn't matter, car review channels benefit from hyping up new tech. That's how it works. Even Roman talking about the 4runner, talking about the old one is not good. Of course he`s going to say that. New tech, new cars = more views. I would think and do the same thing Roman is doing. I like to watch new car tech, and reviews on new cars. But reviewers on here will never be good to listen to, for where to spend your hard earned money. Always listen to a mechanic, not a RU-vid car reviewer.

First question I have is what journalist do you love to collaborate with? I know Alex from Alex On Autos (can’t remember his new channel name) and Sofyan from RedLine Reviews. Any others? Any reason you haven’t done anything with Ryan from Driving Sports TV? Secondly, Roman, you’re terrible at giving car advice lol. The guy should get an Accord. The Volvo is a lease car. As much as it’s beautiful, not a 15 year car. The BMW kind of the same. I’d hate to have to repair either. Toyota makes a great car but theyre incredibly boring, but reliable. Lastly, loved the podcast! Keep it up guys. It is hard work but it’s worth it.

Eric, get yourself a 5 year old Lexus. It will last forever, it is a better value then any new luxury vehicle on lots today, and has all of the luxury features that are not just gimmicks in new vehicles. No PHEV motor and poor mileage, but the PhEV market is at a point that anything today will be obsolete tomorrow with massive depreciation while the Lexus will very gracefully depreciate and resale for close to what you pay in another 5 to 10 years when the PHEV market really matures.

Something I've been curious for a long time on why you guys buy your test vehicles vs getting a long term loaner from the manufacturer, if that's even a thing anymore. Is there an upside, or something you can say as a customer vs possibly being under their thumb if you want to make light of issues? Add: While cellphone and even handheld consumer cameras have improved substantially over the last 10 years, it still blows me away how many people have No idea what manual controls are. They're the same people who ask if you can push a button twice like a lame gorilla. "Yeah, I can manage. By the way, what's your f-stop and exposure set to?" Deer in headlights response Every time. Yes, I came from the era when cameras were in metal bodies and a case of lenses was standard fare. 😉
@NathanDAdlen
@NathanDAdlen Месяц назад
Good question: we mainly buy (and eventually flip) vehicles to do long-term testing. In addition, we've seen some vehicles maintain popularity with viewers over the long-term. Thus, a new or interesting vehicle can be far more popular with the viewers over that long term. One or two weeks with certain vehicles may not be enough. As for the cameras - I 100-percent agree.

43:43 i would press x to doubt on that. Yes a BEV powertrain should in theory last the longest. The real world data is less straightforward. Any tesla has proven to be a hot mess in every department that's not the powertrain, and everyone else's stuff is so new, I can't sign off on it. Eventually this statement will be correct, but for now i don't think we can say that it is.

@@Kahless00 As a guy that just replaced an engine, I find your statement not even close to accurate. Tesla battery is 17-21k. Just replaced my long block and most components for a little over $4300. That’s all parts including motor mounts, water pump etc. labor is a little over 2k. I don’t know what the labor is on a battery replacement. I guess it doesn’t matter. Come on, how is 6k comparable to 17k. EV cars lose value big time in the used market. Anyways, big difference.
@Kahless00
@Kahless00 Месяц назад
@@adamtacheira5323 unless it was a factory long block then your data is useless since youre quoting prices from tesla. by bosses bmw blew its engine less than a year into owning it and the price from bmw before installation was 17k. it was 13.5k for a reman from jasper. that was without installation. you can def do pack replacements cheaper than 20k from tesla. and thats only the price for the 100kwh pack and its years old.
@glow4417
@glow4417 Месяц назад
@@adamtacheira5323 I am not defending EV's or ICE's in particular. But both have their strengths and weaknesses. Batteries are expensive, but it depends on the vehicle and the size of the battery, also whether the battery is newer or has been re-built (same as an engine). The good news for EV's is batteries will become cheaper over time. However, no doubt the downside of an EV or hybrid is expensive battery replacement. EV's have obstacles to overcome with battery tech in the future and the challenge is to keep battery replacement prices lower.

The manufacturer events are always my least favorite content; it always feels like a pre-designed commercial with free air time. If the manufacturers were genuine, they would have a standard presentation to explain the new features and reasons\philosephy behind them, then have at least one vehicle per invited outlet and let them go crazy with the vehicle for the entire rest of the day, returning it once they are done and ready to go home. That way, every outlet can do their own thing and you have an actual variety of content to review instead of the same filtered video spun 20 different ways with 20 different hosts.

@@TFLtalk I don't hate your channel, I spend hours and hours watching your RU-vid channels. Regardless of what you said about my comment being biaa, I will still watch your RU-vid channels. They are high quality good videos overall. But, like other channels on RU-vid, are not meant to help consumers make smart purchases on vehicles. You can help partially, with some information on new vehicles, but you will never give the consumer a holistic broad view of the market -- which is required to make a smart car purchase. And with that said, new tech is exciting and fun to hear about. Your reviews are fun, these cars are fun, but overall what needs to be talked about is "what is the realistic cost of this new tech?". Consumers do not want to pay 70k for a new Land Cruiser, not only to find it's going to cost much more later to maintain the vehicle or previously gen vehicles. So not only are consumers going to pay more up front for the vehicle, but more later as well. And that's really what needs to be talked about on these channels. That is what consumers want you to talk about. Not if a vehicle gets 2 mpg better than the previous gen, but what is real cost of the vehicle likely to be long term? What is the cost of having more HP and torque? What is the cost of more luxury? The Car Care Nut channel, is a Toyota channel. And this channel literally tells people DO NOT buy the first year of any vehicle after a refresh. And he also said, the new GX is going to cost massively more to own than previous GX`s. That is an example of honesty and helping a consumer. Your report of a recall meant nothing. All channels report that news. As I said I will continue to watch this channel. But I will not listen to channels like this, when deciding if a new vehicle is actually worth purchasing. Not with my own hard earned cash on the line. Not when you make money, but hyping new tech and not being honest about the cost owning new tech. God bless you!
