I have 2 R33's (1 GTR and 1 GTS-T) and an R34 GTT, I really like the R33, it's really grown on me over the years and handles so well. The R34 is great for a daily, although I am driving the GTS-T to work right now since the damn power windows and locks stopped working on the 34, the R33 isn't the best daily but it's built and has bucket seats, and no a/c lol

About 60% of R34 fanboys are delusional and think the R34 is the only Skyline Nissan produced! 😂 R33 and R30 my top two favourites!
The reason people who actually know about it dont like it. Its cause it feels like a boat. The reason is cause it was made more for a drag strip race and nascar race. Wasnt really made for track race.

The 33 is faster than the 32 and the 34 around the Nurburgring and it’s several hundred pounds lighter than the R34 even though the R34 has a slight boost in power with the same engine (mainly because the R34 has titanium blades in the turbochargers whereas the R32 and R33 have ceramic blades in the turbochargers). There were more variants of the R33 generation than there were of the R32 and R34. You have the S1, the S2, the 400R, the Autech 40th Anniversary 4-door GT-R, you had the LM Limited (which is basically an R33 GT-R with the front driveshafts removed, so it’s RWD) and comes in a blue color, there’s the GT-R LM, of which only 3 were made, 2 for racing and a one off made for homologation purposes (basically a road going street legal example), and then there is a super limited edition model called the R33 280 Type MR, which only 7 were made. It has an RB25DET bored out to 2.8 liters (essentially making an RB28DET also known as an RB-XII, made by tuning company REINIK), increasing output to 300hp. It started life as an R33 GTS-25T with RWD and then has the AWD system and drivetrain from an R33 GT-R outfitted to the car as well as other Nismo goodies like R33 GT-R brakes, exhaust and suspension components. It came out in 1997 and can be seen in Gran Turismo 2

I dont think its that people dislike it, i just think that, especially outside of the car community, people dont even know it exists. When was the last time to saw an r33 gtr in a movie with a spotlight role. Pretty much never.
Hard disagree. The r33 is just that weird car in the series that nobody wants to talk about. It's the skyline to get when you can't afford the 32 or 34 (At-least where I live). IMO it's just objectively not as "cool" as any of the other ones, there's nothing about it that really stands out, it's just kind of... a car....

There's an R33 GTST up the road from me, tuned up like hell. R33 was the first skyline in real life I saw, instantly fell in love with it as it's the underdog. One day I'll own one 😂
I had the same identical story, I didn’t go around this area much (very close to where I live, like less than 2000 yards, but the one time I did. Wow. I used to hate R33’s but as soon as I saw that beautiful midnight purple V-Spec GTR I couldn’t take my eyes off her. It’s one of my dream cars now.

Reason why r33 is not as popular: r32 was the first to Win Big and get attention. r33 was slightly heavier and didnt have as may wins so people blamed the weight. r34 addressed the failures of the r33 and had a better marketing campaign, and took more wins. so when people consider the three they say: "the first one was obviously cool, and the r34 is amazing too, so the r33 FUCKIN SUCKS BRO" in otherwords: people are retarded.
focus and set your mind to it,GTR's are magical. I have driven several, and owned a 2002 Autech 260RS (GTR WAGON), they all have more hp than they claim (about 350hp at wheels) and torque that would pull the moon out of orbit. I will buy a 32 or a 33 next year, I said it I believe it so I will make it happen, no problem, easy. good luck to you.
The R33 was always my favourite. Especially after seeing a widebody kit in a Turbo magazine. It made it look like a brute Japanese muscle car. The nismo 400R styling is also nice.
Didn't the R33 have the most limited edition versions including the 400R? I never understood why the R33 is trashed, but without a doubt you're right. Everyone talks about the R32 and R34, and not this one.
Couple of facts. The chassis are named BNR32 BCNR33 and BNR34. The fastest nurburgring lap belongs to the r33. Nissan couldn't set a better time with the r34. The simply said the weather was bad.
I was going to mention this. You beat me to it. A lot of people are unaware of this fact. And it did have sucess in the JGTC. The V-spec R33 was the first production car to lap the Nurburgring in less 8 minutes.
R33 is the sexiest of them all. R34, as good as it may be, looks like the reincarnation of the R30 Skyline, which was nicknamed "benjoslippa" meaning bathroom slippers. It also looks like the R31 Skyline.
R33 was always my favorite. Plus I love Nissans of that era. Probably some of the best quality to ever come out of Nissan was in their mid 90's cars. The fact that this one has a Hurricanes plate makes it that much cooler. The U!

The reason: R32: The Skyline that changed everything in racing. R34: 2 Fast 2 Furious and NFS Underground. R35: The supercar varient. Superfast, great price and a Skyline. R33 didn't really have some insane promotion but it does look amazing. It's not as aggressive as the 34 and not as simple as the 32. It's in the middle and it looks great. My favourite is the R32 because it looks so simple and kinda like a sleeper but the R33 looks like a great tuner car that isn't trying to be overly serious about itself like the 34 and 35.
You know what the R32, R34 & R35 all have in common? They look like they are trying too hard. Where as the R33, it's got nothing to prove because it already knows it's good, that's what's mysterious about them
Main reason is because the front is ugly to a lot of ppl and it was out performed by the r32 but we have mods for a reason and I love the way the r33 looks favorite of the gtrs for me even tho the r34 looks better still rather have a r33
it wasn't outperformed by the r32.... it's actually faster around the track than the r32 and lighter than the r34..... literally runs the n-burg 20 seconds faster than an r32 stock for stock

@@saleenf5 exactly. the later generation GTRs were better than the R32. Stiffer chassis, better aerodynamics, and faster attesa-ets response/calculations. the reason they didn't destroy the competition like the r32 did was because the competition also got much better. aka the R33/R34 faced more difficult competitors. The r32 isn't a bad car., it's just not as good as the later models for obvious reasons.
Don't know how old you are, but I'm of the Playstation Generation. The R-33 is an absolute legend to me and many other 35 to 45 years olds. The 32 is the original Godzilla but is bettered by the 33, the 34 is OK but a bit boxy, and the 35 isn't a Skyline and so doesn't count!
The R33 GT-R is the best out of the Skyline GT-R in terms of performance. It set faster times than the R32 and R34 around various tracks. So any day I'll take the R33 if I want performance and the R34 if I want looks I suppose. All Skyline GT-R's are great though.😁👍🏼
I had a R33 when I lived in Okinawa..... I absolutely loved it.... I traded an Aristo and 40k yen for it would kill for it back now. I also though R33 looked the best.
I think one of the reasons why people don't like the R33 GTR is because in the first Fast & Furious movie, it didn't race like the other cars did. Like the driver in the movie, it had nothing to prove, cool and laid back. Because of the lack of attention the R33 GTR gets, the car gives off a mysterious vibe unlike the R32 and R34 GTR. Because of massive screen time whether it be the R32 GTR from Bathurst, or the R34 GTR from the Fast & Furious movies, it's a good thing but it's also gives off the vibe that the R32 and R34 GTR had something to prove. By the time the R33 GTR gets it's respect and fame, no one will bother with the R32 and R34 GTR because like I said before, they had their time on the big screen. People will want to know more about the R33 GTR, but people will never know because of the hate it doesn't deserve. People need to realize that Fast & Furious and Initial D both have something in common, they're both fake. Edit - I'm predicting from now till 5 years time that the R34 GTR will slowly lose its hype due to the car not being as good as people made it out to be. It's going to be interesting once they hit the US, people seem to know about a car that hasn't even hit the country yet, but maybe people will realize, they have it good already with the what they have, the R33 GTR. I'm not going to mention about the R32 GTR because even tho it got banned at Bathurst, it was only key word only racing against Commodores & Fords. Unlike the R33 GTR keeping up with McLaren's, Porsche's etc over in Europe. I also can't wait to people find out that the RB26 in the R34 GTR is the exact same from the R33 GTR because early prototypes of the R34 GTR were VQ V6 front mounted engines specifically made for the body of the R34 GTR, that's why they are slow and sluggish stock. But because they couldn't afford to build new VQs at the time, they gave the R34 GTR sloppy second RB26's from the R33 GTR. So in all of this the R33 GTR is the best out of the RB26 range stock & modified because that specific RB26 was made for the R33 GTR and the R32 GTR has its own RB26 made for that body. There's so much info online and videos proving that the R33 GTR is the best. The R34 GTR may have the good rep now, but once they hit the US, people are going to be very disappointed and that will be the R34 GTR's downfall. There are so many R34 GTR'S in Australia for sale right now, you just gotta think, as much as you want to buy one, there's a reason why people want to sell them quick before the US has them, because even they know they are not worth the prices they are now. And because people can't sell them, car giveaways are having a sniff and are worried they are not going to gain money from the R34 GTR by trying to sell them before they hit the US, why is it all of sudden they are recently starting to give them away now? If the car was 'that good' people wouldn't be selling them it's as simple as that, and that's even before the whole economy thing happening, it's just all about making money from hype for a car that's not even that good. The R33 GTR will definitely put the R34 GTR in it's place mark my words.
Does anyone know if the V cam system only works with HKS camshafts or does it work with other manufacturers? I'm running a kelford 182-e on my RB30. And HKS's equivalent is the 2202-rn132 that’s (discontinued).
Hey now, I do. It's my favorite Skyline. Personally the r33 is the best looking skyline ever made. But I'd need an auto because I don't have the leg strength to push a clutch.

sithlordsoup I love how you mentioned the Cosworth Sierra, plus didn't call it a xr4 or xr4ti. I'm in the process of doing the Volvo DOHC conversion and have a couple Cosworth parts already on my 2.3l Lima. Ported intake, 65mm throttle body, front mounted intercooler with 2 1/2" intercooler pipes, full 3" dual exhaust from top mounted header to 3" down pipe to Y pipe splitter then after that both sides have high flow cats and three foot tube mufflers had to do some pie cutting to get the tailpipe over the rear axle all fabricated myself, pimp x stand alone ECU , wideband O2 sensor and controller, dual adjustable boost controller, Eibach springs and Koni adjustables all around. Even though I just installed a stage 3 clutch and nothing wrong with the T5 I'm so tempted to do the T56 transmission conversion in the future. Besides fixing the design flaws of the Ford engineers, as in installing the Eslinger billet auxiliary timing shaft with bronze gear, adding a blow off valve since I blew up 4 turbos from the back pressure during shifts and even blew the butterfly plate off the throttle body one time and the bolts went down the intake into the head and fucked the head and 2 pistons. Fun fun. That's why it's sad to watch videos about the EcoBoost and knowing what Cosworth and others did with an engine with the same displacement. Just look the SVO in 84 175hp then 85 205hp that's 30hp gain in one production year then was told to detune to 200hp so it would have the same hp rating as the 5.0 so they wouldn't loss sales of the gt. The 87 was supposed to have a DOHC designed by Jack Roush but Ford failed Americans aren't ready for technology. All that said is the reason why a bought my 2002 WRX bugeye in 2002 when Subaru first imported the WRX to the u.s. Four banger turbo with dual boost controller have the low setting boost as low as you can go for fuel economy and high setting for fun time. Figured that out after seeing my fuel mileage driving around with blown turbos. I've got so many stories about what I've gone through with that car. It's just too bad there's no way to convert a foxbody mustang into a AWD like what Cosworth did with the Escort RS. Well you figure Americans basically either drive straight or just make left turns, they don't do much rally or road courses.
Also a shout out to the Sierra Cosworth, which for a 2 litre turbo RWD still was a badass when battling against Godzilla on the Australian race tracks.
There’s nothing more awkward than seeing a Gts-t or a Gt-t at a car meet, the noticeably awkward bumpers and dimensions, you almost feel like people bought them because it’s a skyline. The fact that someone out there has a proper street Gtr built like this is insane. Too bad the new supra is on a lower level than the current R.

Growing up (gran turismo 1 and 2 days), i rarely knew anyone who liked the r32, but it seems like younger guys like it bc all these car youtube channels, and theres actually content on it. Bro....I have been watching this r33 gtr in my hometown and there this old Japanese dude who drives it....and a week ago he put a for sale sign on it and I stop him and ask how much and he said $12,000.....i have BEEN saving up for 3 YEARS waiting and waiting and you bet I'm gonna drive the HELL out of it man.....and get this it's still the same as when he first bought it in Japan🇯🇵.....bro......I cried when he gave me the keys....I'm only 17 man....
