Pat Cash at the U.S. Open 1984 among other tennis players , Andres Gomez was a real contender. Thanks a lot

Damn....nice find.......if you have some of Mac against 18 year old Edberg.....that would be great. That 's the holy grail....young Stefan against peak Mac.

Gerulaitis playing with Andres Gomez. And I think the girl is Lisa Bonder, not Carling Bassett :-)

@@fplat oh i forgot about gerulaitis😅 Female player is Carling Bassett (She used Prince Graphite. Bonder used a Mizuno racket in 1984)

And Dennis Ralston, watching Lloyd in the grandstand. Chris there too, along with her mom, Colette.

Hard to believe but this was Mac's last Slam victory. Trivia: He never won any in Nike clothes, even though he's so associated with the brand. Won all his Slams in Sergio Tacchini.

well, he won in Nike shoes (back when they only made shoes), and he did win doubles in Nike..

Sundström was one of the three players that defeated Mcenroe that incredible year (Davis Cup). Only 3 loses. The others where Lendl (RG final) and Amritraj in Cincinnati.

Wow. The Vitas Gomez footage was off the charts. 84 Mac imho was the best tennis ever by anyone. Just me.

Pat, Tony, and Newk were part of what made the Open so good.

Both John Lloyd and Sundstrom had really compact take back on the forehand.

Andrés Gómez, ecuadorian, nicknamed "El Zurdo de Oro" ("The Golden Leftie") had a beautiful game. A great serve, a big heavy topspin forehand and a good backhand.

The serve looked to me like he barely spun it over just to start the point like a lot of clay court players of the time

@@jigsterifyI remember he made at least 15 aces per match.

@@miguelbarahona6636 would have been surprised if he did that match looks like hes barely rolling his arm over to place the serve, its like a women’s tour second serve lol

Green had some serious legs on that man. Loved his return of serve- so low and angled.Lloyd looked really good here, his best Open reaching QF in 84 losing to of course Connors .

You could have substituted him for Michael Stich and never known the difference.

Looking at Vitas/Gomez I must say their forehands still look very simple and forced compared to Borgs which looked almost like Federers. With small wooden racket. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-P2tMST05MbE.html

@@SuperHammaren Vitas his a flat/pushing forehand (70s and before). Gomez hit a heavy topspin forehand with power.

Greg Holmes (?) comes to mind . Against Pat Cash, Vitas Gerulaitis against Andrea Gomez. McEnroe against, I believed to be Andrei Charkasov (?) but is somebody named Green Sundstrom vs. John Lloyd. Practice Court Carling Bassett along side Mats Wila der Nick Bollettieri watching on

Carlingbassetts greatest weakness was her lack of leg work preparing for her ground strokes. She didn’t lead with her feet. All arm.
