Many of us already self censor when it comes to Islam. I certainly do. Whilst I have no intent to harm any person based on their beliefs, I should be free to discuss all religions openly. No group has a right to not be offended, or discussed.

Whenever I hear how nice (all?) muslims are I recall these words from Ibn Kathir's commentary on the Quran: "We smile in the face of some people although our hearts curse them."
Its as if our “one nation under God” has been sold out on both sides of the aisle: the division is just a ploy to keep the people at odds with each other while the elite of our governing offices gain the assets to be rich. Which vote will be of use if there are no British/Christian/Conservative candidates? That’s how socialists and now muslins take the power: a multitude of candidates and followers in relevant positions of government institutions.

When you understand how Islam developed out of heretical misunderstandings of Catholic theology in the 6th century by illterate arab nomads and weaponised down through history by warlordism ideologies, Islam and Muslim culture can be logically contextualised in todays geopolitical environment.
The main problem of course is that islam is a political body and not just a religious one. Its intent in this regard has been stated and made crystal clear. So this is equivalent to saying, you can not criticise this political party and to do so is racist. This is no different to work of Mao, Stalin or Hitler in its intent.
Gosh, not looking good in the UK. Here in France we haven't got quite that far.....yet. I sometimes wonder why there seems to be very few, if any at all, Christians coming into France among the huge inflow of migrants. Is it a deliberate decision ? There are, after all, Christians being persecuted in some African countries. Having said that, I admit I don't have statistics. Is it all simply down to a hatred of Christianity on the part of the elite ? I never ever here any member of the French Government expressing concern regarding Christians in Africa or the Middle East.
Depressingly, I never hear persecution of Christians mentioned in my church (let alone by politicians), although we are urged to 'pray for Gaza' every week.
I was listening to Bob of speakers corner. He says if Christian’s love Christ and his teachings they have no choice but to be political to create a new Christendom. Woke seems to be in charge. Islam is overtly political. Christians have no choice but to be involved in politics.
The heads, rulers of the many churches have been found guilty of teaching Jesus as a man of passiveness for to long and that he required all to leave political out of the church walls. Yet, Jesus, Paul, and Peter. Stephen, etc. dealt with the religious and political often in the scriptures. Dare one say that men had crept in unawares in the church and caused the people of God to fail, seeing they too had failed in teading God’s word; precept upon precept, precept upon precept, line upon line, line upon line, for they have the little by little being done in their sermons that summon but they lack the meat that strengthens that sustains (Jude 1:4, Isa.28:8-10, Heb.5:11-14, KJV).
It cannot be understated, but Islam is a chastisement on Christendom for losing the faith. The Bible is a record of that cyclical pattern of God's people losing their way, and taking on strange gods other than the One True God. This time is no different except that unlike those other instances, this time we had God himself condescend to us in the flesh to give us explicit instructions on holding true to the one true Catholic faith, and bringing his message to the rest of the World. In such a short span of time, we have allowed a small minority element to exercise a corrosive influence on our beliefs, thus exacting their ultimate revenge on us for having accepted the Messiah that they rejected. That they had access to the Scriptures before us makes their sin all the more serious, as they were given every sign on what was coming, and they rejected it because their tiny minds couldn't fathom that they would not be worldly rulers, with lands, and riches, but that they would inherit with all of us a spiritual kingdom in Heaven.
Should you be a true Christian you would know that Jesus Christ is the Messiah, that His Passion, Death and Resurrection decisively brought to the culmination that process of incremental revelation. Islam is a continuation of the reign of the Lord of this world contradicting and opposing the authenticity of the Triune God and the answer to the fatal damage done by the foundational sin breaking communion with our Creator. Seems you agree with the Pope that Hell is empty, some of us are not so sure.

The past year I am finding myself listening more and more to channels of mostly ex-muslims talking to the defenders of the Quran and their Prophet etc.... I have learnt a lot from these discussions not only about those subjects but also about the almost brain-dead attitudes of these people who have no concept of logical arguments or what it means to listen to an opponent. They are often violent in their language and they think if they shout and attack relentlessly, it means that they won the argument. Unbelievable naivety, unbelievable credulity, unbelievably uniform in their thinking.... I

Thank you Gavin as always, As a Christian I think I would say I am a Christian first and a citizen of the United Kingdom second. Not unlike many Muslims it seems who identify as Moslem first. As a Christian I have to say Jesus is Lord, that is my underlying belief, in the same way that the early Christians declared Jesus is Lord not Caesar.. If the laws of the land go against that then I must involve myself in some kind of civil disobedience or leave the country. Any attempt to impose a definition of Islamaphobia is an attempt to say that Islam is the true religion, otherwise to protect other religions we would have to come up with definitions of Christianaphobia, Hinduaphobia etc. I don't hate Muslims but I do have serious concerns that their teachings are contrary to the Christian faith. Both Islam and Christianity declare that they are true and other religions are false, it's a collision course. John
The extent to which law is increasingly used to ringfence our thoughts and opinions, is chilling. It pre-empts how we might react, if lawyers correctly guess our response to whatever novelty government want to impose, then creates a pejorative (a phobia neologism in this case) as a way of forestalling our response to it. Lawfare and social psychology are the new artillery and shock troops.

Sorry to hear about the loss of an old friend, but it must have required infinite tact on Dr Ashenden's part to maintain a friendship when such very divergent opinions held sway. Time also moves people further along different paths in life and these sort of situations will occur. Unfortunately, philosophy and theology cannot be put into one compartment of life but will overlap in all areas, especially politics. Lamenting with you, and keeping you in my prayers. Disturbing indeed. But any such law would also have to apply equally to all other religions. I can see any attempts to enforce this would either be shot down in the courts, or be the catalyst that actually starts the second English civil war. We , like France, Germany, Sweden and maybe Belgium are all headed in that direction. Tragically.

It is my contention that Islam cannot be considered a "Religion" under the U.S 1st Amendment. At the time of the framing, the term "religion" referred to a belief in God, not a political and governmental system. Since Islam is both a religion and a political system, it is not covered by the 1st Amendment. "Religion" at the time referred to belief in God, a moral code that inevitably spread ideas of peace and tolerance, and foregoing violence as a method of solving disputes. Islam endorses violence as way of spreading its religion. It endorses death as the method of dealing with people who leave its religion. As you say, it is fundamentally alien to the way we think about religion. And most do not understand this.
But then - would they not have to equally outlaw - Cathlophobic or Christophobic or Judeophobic or Theophobic expressions? Or CISphobic? Can this not be turned right back on them???
As to Islam and racism. There are various theories as to where the North European races originated. In the USA, they confidently assert that they originated in the Caucasus, so describe someone of North European race as “Caucasian”. Hitler considered that they originated in Iran, so described them as Iranian, or, alternatively, Aryan. One of the titles of the late Shah of Persian was “Light of the Aryan Race.” If you see any video shot in Tehran, it would be easy enough, if those being filmed were dressed in jeans and a jumper, rather than in a long flowing robe, to mistake them for the average Englishman out mowing his lawn. Yet, it is amongst those of the Aryan race, the same race, essentially, as native North Europeans, that the religion of Islam is adhered to most strongly. So, to define “Islamophobia” as being racist in nature is, patently, absurd. However, much of modern politics is patently absurd. Nevertheless, we do need to be careful. What Gavin has to say would not, I think, go so far as to justify a “Fatwa” - perhaps only a “Thinwa” (if there is such a thing). Gavin is in more danger from the politically correct and woke members of our own establishment, in particular, from those in the Church of England. I mentioned Gavin to one friend of mine, a relatively senior figure in the Church of England and he mused for a bit and said “Oh, yes, Bishop Ashenden - long time, no See.”
No such thing as 'islamophobia', only islamofauxbia. Phobia is irrational fear/hatred, whereas an informed, healthy dislike is both reasonable and sensible.

Since the battle is spiritual, perhaps an experienced exorcist would know which demons are involved. The people they are influencing certainly need our prayers.

This is an accurate report of the opinion of one Christian but historically and factually inaccurate. We are now well beyond folk stories of origins and better informed by DNA data about ethnic origins and ancestral relationships.

Why don't you speak of the real problem which is secularism. Its not Islam that silence's you ,its the secularist and their inclusive multicultural Policy.

Certainly I've read that certain charities of your religious ilk raise funds under the guise of humanitarian work, but ends up supporting wars and other such activities. So to answer your question, perhaps your religion in the modern day fulfills a social, religious and political end. Christianity aims to fulfil a religious purpose and some even extend humanitarian support to muslims without any strings attached.

Christianity hasn't failed, and I would never convert to Islam. Maybe you should step outside your box and look around you with more discernment. Many Christians may gripe, but when it comes to it, most would support their Church in their life and after, with bequests, to ensure that the Gospels are taught, but not for warmongering from money raised from charities that have been diverted from peaceful to murderous activities.
