He is absolutely right, in India paying tax is a charity where you don't expect anything in return. In charity, at least you earn some goodwill.

He is right. Tax payers pay at-least 20% to 30% tax, and from the balance net income we have to pay GST on every purchase. Politicians eat this hard earned money, corruption and freebies are looting the tax payer.

Indian Tax is punishment for salaried for not becoming entrepreneur or Starting business or staying in India.

Government should give more benefits for the one who pay more taxes...for eg. Free tolls, concession on fuel, subsidy for children education and medical expenses for the high tax payers

Problem is : Only salaried people have to pay taxes as compulsion . Rich and Poor will evade / avoid / not required to pay taxes. Most businesses and non salaried people pay taxes to the false minimal extent so that they don't get attention of tax authorities .

This very true especially in our country where you have no free education and health care, paying 30% direct tax and 20% indirect tax in everything+20% cost of living means basically you earning 30% only as savings. But atleast in countries like US, UK, Canada etc.. they provide free world class education and health care. Here the remaining 30% also goes in healthcare, education , housing etc.. basically we have become labourers for these crook politicians.

India is one country where I would support the argument in favour of tax evasion by middle class and even other "thefts" which I see as "reclamation" I don't have the balls to do it but I am happy to hear about it in form of rumours every now and then about some guy doing it.

I fully agree with Ashneer ji. Simple statement of facts without sugar coating in the name of Nation building. I'm not against paying tax, but it should be equitable to all. In a country of 130cr plus population, not even 5% are paying taxes and poor Naukarishuda people are shouldering the burden of entire population when it comes to paying taxes. Ideally, there should not be a double whammy for taxation. Salaried people are paying taxes on income as well as in the form of GST on almost everything. Why there can't be only one tax, common for all? Let there be no income tax, only consumption tax.

In Norway, you pay 50% tax but you will get free healthcare, school and other services. In India you'll get broken roads, less security, high petrol tax, expensive healthcare and if some party provides free services to tax paying people they will call "free ki revadi" where politicians gets free discounts on everywhere and gets black and corruption money (tax payers money) for services where pays their salary from our tax.

India should adopt mass taxation policy rather than elite taxation policy and lower GST so that upper middle income and middle income population can get some relief

On the top of that, there is no encouragement for personal investments. The 80C is struck at 1.5L. That needs to be increased. BC, school fees for kid alone is 1.5L these days

I see a lot of unnecessary debate going on in the comments, the problem is not with paying tax It's two things 1. A small percent of the society actually pays tax, poor people don't pay, rich find loop holes 2. You don't get anything after paying tax, your paying 40% ( indirect + direct) and what do you get in return....nothing. Majority of the tax collected is just to stuff the pockets of curropted politicians and civil workers. This video was edited, before this video starts he said a good point that "the taxes you pay, goes in govt. Hospitals, schools, transports and other govt facilities jo aap waise bhi nhi use karne wale". Which is enough to clarify that specifically the Indian education system should allow an individual to get education for free.

Pehle congress ki sarkaar thi tab bhi aaye din road ukhadne aur flyovers/bridges tootne ki khabarein aati rehti thi.. As a salaried tax payer, I completely agree to this. 5 months of salary goes to govt in return for nothing.... That's why businessmen find ways to evade taxes. Even if they buy drink beer, they show it as office party expenses on which no income tax is applicable. 25 lakhs cars are bought every year in India, but according to finance minister, there are only 15 lakh tax payers in India with income above 10 lakhs.

Some political party should declare tax removal for salaried class as freebie, free electricity and water to kisaans and bpl. Just by doing this they will win the coming lok sabha elections in 2024. To compensate for income deficit, increase indirect taxes on luxury goods.

To the honest tax payer there should be some percentage rebate in Road Tax, Toll Tax, Property Stamp Duty etc. Tax dene ka koi to direct benefit hona chaiye.

Whatever he has said about tax of india, these all things rajeev dixit has explained very well. Indian tax senerio makes thief to Indian people. This tax rule came from British government ,that time Indian politicians had shown dream to indian people to make good country but due to bad luck no one politician could change tax policy. Every government keep on following same theory of tax .when governments are asked they give reply ,we are developing country so we need to collect more revenue which comes from tax .

It's not what Ashneer is saying it's what the people are commenting is the difference. People with money like Ashneer are not happy with paying taxes and the people not so rich middle class who are commenting on this video are happy to pay taxes without even complaining in the name of nation building. Ironically for all infrastructure projects govt pays money to big companies to develop them and still ask people to pay toll and and road tax. And still people don't complain!!

Its taking a very small view of things. We pay taxes and thats the reason we have roads, metros, security. Etc. Govt is working and it helps in bringing investments etc. Which help people in getting jobs. Favourable investments conditions are provided by govt. Imagine a situation like syria. Ex:- Ambani gave jio for free, so incurred losses but benefited customers. The loss claim from profit making organisation leads Tax saving( INCOME TAX ) SETT OFF loss making companies from Profit Making companies, later on remaining balance pay the TAX ... if loss you would C/F next year ... Loss Making companies incur loss for Customer acquisition (is indirect benefit to company and Tax saver formula)😉😉😉

It's really funny that everyone playing middle class card without even realising income below 5 lac in a financial year is tax exempted, anyone earning 10+lac in a year is not a middle class anymore. Apart from that everyone one wants world class infrastructure and other services either free or at a very low cost. Lastly it's better not to believe anyone just because they are a part of a billion dollar enterprise.

Most of our tax money is used to give away free stuff during elections but this had stopped to some extent after 2010 in most states but AAP and parties in South again started revadi culture to defeat BJP and now even BJP has started doing it. Poor people are happy but the country is suffering. Giving away free stuff except foodgrains and necessities should be banned ASAP.

40% is just direct tax. On the remaining 60% you still have to pay indirect tax which can be upto 28% and on many things there are cess which take indirect tax to 50% and on petrol diesel 100% After all direct and indirect taxes you are left with around 45% (assuming you are in the highest tax bracket)

Guys don't fall for this The only problem in India is buisnessman like him does'nt need to pay tax and all burden of tax falls on middle class families. And he is asking what does government provides to tax payers here I'm listing some : 1) from where does the money come to buy defense equipments and pay army personnels. 2) ISRO is government space agency and we all know what it does and also from where it receives funds. 3) there is law,order and administration , from where does the come to fund it . There are taxes in every country, yeah i know many will give me example of dubai here where there is no tax but dubai has its own way of collecting money that is through fines, very huge fines. The only problem in India is that buisnessman like this fellow has found loopholes in the system by which they save themselves to pay taxes. Government should make incentives of collecting money from these kind of people who have money to buy all kind of luxuries but not to pay tax. Now many will say my money my wish, yeah thats correct but we are also a human society and we have are duties towards society. Many will also say that there are corrupt politicians who take taxpayers money but not paying taxes is not a solution this problem. We need to find a different solution to that. Tax rates are much higher in some European countries but there the government does provide good health care, children's education, world class infrastructure e.g. roads, reliable electricity and good quality water, public transport etc.

At some point even US had taxes like this. India is a developing country. And it depends on people who are able to earn to help others to be able to earn by providing subsidized education and infrastructure.

No wonder younger generation doesn't want to work 9-5 private jobs. Salaried class should push for reservation and special benefits in education, health, water, groceries, electricity, transport and even entertainment. We are paying effectively 37% tax, we should get the appropriate benefits.

As a CA aspirant, at some point you can say lowering tax slabs but following Ashneer comment is totally madness, Believe me this will go against the progressive taxation system and now business people will find more lucrative ways to escape the system, who were the original target as said in history of tax

The problem of high tax will reduce by implementing proper tax collection and distribution system. Many people in india currently do not pay tax by leagal or illegal means which is the problem. People in comments suggesting govt to give special benefits to tax payers which may sound fascinating but that will increase the burden on govt. That burden will be transferred either to the poor or the same tax payers by some other way. In a country like india outright tax relaxation is not possible for now but the system needs some reforms which should be discussed and demanded. This may give us some relief. Ab rahi baat charity ki, social responsibility bhi kuch hota hai. Waise hi india me itni inequality hai aur ye ashneer ji jaise baat kar rahe hai ye seedha tax payers ko non tax payers ke khilaf bhadkana hai. Agar problem hai to proper solution ki baat karo aise baith ke comment karne se kuch nahi hoga.

The tax that we pay is consumed by people who don't pay tax (Mostly by corrupt politicians and whatever is left after that, by non taxpayers). That is I think the primary reason why it is a punishment. We don't get anything fruitful in return since the number of people not paying tax vastly outnumbers the number of people paying.

Very true he is.We pay our four months salary to government because we have no way out whereas businessmen have all avenues to evade tax.

Absolutely right. As long as we are earning, we pay tax and no security for us post retirement etc, that also we only need to take care from our savings. Again tax on such savings when the return comes. Investment on education for kids, medical for family is also from white money we have. Interestingly education fee exemption is only for tution fee, but schools take it as development fee. Atleast education is human resource development for any country, hence education should be made free for all TDS payers, as long as we part of TDS.

Moreover our tax is going as salary to FEW government employees who are evading to do their normal work and they also ask bribe to do their work. And other part of tax is getting converted as black money to politicians 😑. We are depending on most of the service from private as we dont have atleast minimum quality at government due to FEW inefficient employees. If we are mostly using private then why we have to pay this much tax to government😮
