Read More about the Toro 21" Power Clear E21 60-Volt 7.5Ah Snow Blower on TORO's Website: www.toro.com/en/homeowner/sno...
Check out TORO's 60-Volt Blower: amzn.to/2NGztYv
From the minute we opened the box holding the TORO 60-Volt Snow Blower, we could see that this model is made much better than all the other battery-operated snow blowers we have ever tested. The battery has an excellent feel with the handle and rubber over-mold. The plastics used to build this snowblower are more than a step above the competition. The battery cover tells a lot of the story with the first impressions. We could drop almost anything in our garage on this snow blower without a single worry of anything breaking. The hinges feel string and there is zero thoughts of the cold having and effect on this machine.
TORO rates this snowblower to be able to break through heavy, wet snow and throw it up to 40 feet. We tested that with an early November snowfall in Michigan and it well outperformed our expectations. They also say it will "Crush Snow to the Curb" by ripping through it with Toros patent-pending all-steel Power Edge auger. We tested that at the points where our driveway was piled up with the counties plow pushed all the ice and snow from the road. We were throwing chunks of ice the size of tennis balls. While the sound of this going through any snowblower can be disturbing, the TORO Power Clean had no issue with it and there was not even a scratch on the internal plastics.
Battery life was exceptional as we cleared a driveway that is more suited for a truck and plow than a push snowblower. TORO claims this model to have the runtime to clear up to a 12-parked-car driveway on a full charge with the included L405 battery (60-Volt MAX, 7.5 Amp-Hour, 405 Watt-hour). We well exceeded those claims, but we were working with 2-5" of wet snow and ice, so we feel this claim would still be able to be met with a good 6"s of normal snow.
Toro is a very well know and respected brand. There is no doubt that they will stand behind their products with a full warranty, not just limited coverage. This model carries a 2-Year Full Warranty on the Snow Blower and 3-Year Full Warranty Battery. We normally see a very short warranty on the battery, but not in this case!
TORO might not be the first to market with a battery-operated snow blower. TORO is the largest and probably the largest household name when it comes to snow blowers and other outdoor power equipment. They did their product testing and research and delivered with a model that is easy to use, offers an ECO mode for longer battery runtime, and has a build quality that surpasses all the competition currently on the market.
Simply put, go out and look at the current battery-operated snow blowers on the market. Open the battery compartments and use the controls. Simply by doing that you will be able to feel the difference in quality between this machine and the others. Once you turn it on and use it in snow, there will be no doubt that this was the better decision for where to spend your hard-earned dollars.

How does this unit compare to the Ego Snow Blower? I'm now torn because I really like all the reviews I've seen about the Ego but now I saw this Toro and am thinking of this instead.

Night and day difference! TORO has: More Power Better Build Quality Better Chute Design & Rotation Better Scraper More Comfortable Use Also makes a 2 battery model Much Better Auger System Backed by a Better Name EGO folds up easier... That's it.

@@WorkshopAddict damn, well thank you for the great review as always! I had my heart set on the Ego lol but now I think I need to look into Toro. I mean Toro has been around making snowblowers longer so they really know what they're doing. What's the run time on a single battery?
@WorkshopAddict
@WorkshopAddict 4 года назад
@@FenixTX717 About 45 minutes in normal use. That will drop in heavy use. If you need one for multiple driveways or get a ton of snow, look at the dual battery model with two 6.0 Ah Batts. Not many would need it, but it is an option.

@@WorkshopAddict I prefer the chute rotation control on the EGO, as it looks like you have to bend over to change the rotation on the Toro. I haven't run the Toro, but I have zero complaints on power with the EGO. Last winter I was able to do my driveway and my neighbors in 5-6in of wet heavy snow...I was amazed! The EGO also folds up nicely to store on my storage rack in the summer. That being said, everything else does look superior, but I'm pretty stuck in the EGO ecosystem at this time - Hedge Trimmer, Weed Whip, Leaf Blower, Snowblower...
@WorkshopAddict

@@salbowski3864 Glad you like the EGO. The chute rotation on the EGO works well until there is ice and some wear. Then the cable system fails.

Toro got this right. This machine is a homeowner’s dream. I bought the 6.0ah, two battery, unit two weeks ago (frankly, because that was all my dealer in Toledo had in stock ready to go). I was impressed by the performance in two inches of snow. Then, we got the big dump (for us) of over a foot overnight. The snow was every bit as deep as the height of the intake chute. This unit worked like a champ. The machine throws snow quite proficiently. It throws wet snow and ice chunks as well. It won’t get itself under the ice frozen to the driveway. I had to use a steel hand scraper to break the ice first. I am very glad I got 2 batteries-I needed both. The batteries also charge fairly slowly- two or three hours from dead to fully charge. I finished my driveway and sidewalk before my neighbors could even get their gas machines up and running his morning. This blower is a no-brainer. Not cheap, but it does what it says it will do.

I bought this snow blower and on Dec 1st 2020 I got 14.4 inch of snow. That was after 4 to 5 hours of straight rain. This snow was extremely wet. I have a single drive, 3 car deep and about 60 feet of sidewalk. I did use all the 7.5 ah battery. The snow on sidewalk was at least 20 inch deep. If it had been 6 to 8 in of powder I'd have probably used 1/2 battery. This storm was way more than intended for Toro use but it did a great job. I plan to get lawn mower so I have 7.5 and 6.0 battery year round. No regrets buying this snow blower.

I'm a newbie to this TORO Snowblower, started to use it this winter, with a 5" to 7" snow in Boston Massachusetts. Very lucky found this video as the video showed a very detail info and what's the real things to handle it. This machine is perfect for woman use, it's light and no technical stuff to do with. Many thanks for information here.

I'm trying to convince myself to spend the money on one of these... I live in a townhouse community, and tend to do about 4 neighbors' driveways as well as mine with a shovel. We have a snow clearing service, but they're always slow to come out, and I prefer to get it done before it gets driven on. I worry about how long these batteries will last... They are very expensive. I'm impressed with this video, thank you for the information!

As always, your reviews are thorough but at the same time presented in a clear way. Keep up the great reviews. My Toro 1028LXE has lasted 15 years and since we now have downsized I don't need a machine that requires gas, oil and a fair amount of maintenance. I am looking at the new two stage E24 or E26 so it is good to see the quality of this one as it likely goes through Toro's whole electric lineup. Thanks Bri.

I bought one yesterday. 30 minutes and several pieces of lava rock in my back yard and now the auger is wacking the housing. To increase battery life they shaved reciprocating weight with a metal auger instead of hard rubber NS thinner spindle. The unit has a tendency to ride over any packed snow so you'll have to go out early. It was nice not smelling like gasoline after I was done.

Since I am thinking of purchasing, I did some calculations to compare the 2x 6ah battery package against the 1x 7.5ah battery package. Turns out the price per WattHour of these batteries is cheaper to get the 7.5ah and essentially the same ($0.54/WH & $0.55/WH) if you purchase a backup 6ah battery. In purchasing the 2x 6ah package you are actually paying $200 for only an additional 243 WH which appears to be a premium at $0.82/WH.

Very interesting stuff. The most striking detail from what I saw is the lack of rubber on the impeller. With its smaller diameter not contacting the surface, it appears that, in conjunction with the scraper design, they are able to get and maintain high rpm and eliminate friction load on the motor that you would get with rubber paddles rubbing on concrete. I have a 3 hp LawnBoy rubber paddled 2 stroke with plug in electric start (made by Toro also with very similar overall design to this unit)that still runs great, but this looks very promising down the line. Wish you would have had more snow to evaluate but it handled those dense packed spots with surprising ease. Good video! Keep up the great work!

I had a Toro self propelled mower last year, that thing was a PITA, once you got it started you better not stall it or shut it off till you are done, otherwise it wouldn't start again. If I recall it had a pile of junk Briggs and Stratton engine on it. The old Toro stuff was bulletproof it seemed, and if you pay higher prices and get higher end Toro equipment it is built so much better than the off the shelf box store stuff I think.

I bought this Toro e21 single stage. I was surprised at how well it handled and threw the snow for its size. However it just wasn’t powerful enough for the snow storms we tend to get here on the north shores of Lake Erie. My other main gripes are the scraper bar and the plastic handle knobs. The scraper bar wore out after my first winter of use, and is impossible to find a new replacement. The plastic handle knobs kept vibrating loose and falling off…I lost one and had to replace with a nut and bolt. Again it’s another part that’s impossible to get a Toro replacement for. Sold the unit, and bought a 2-stage.

What do you think? The Toro single stage gas powered snow blower has a rubber auger blade. It helps pull the blower along the sidewalk/driveway, especially when you raise the handle a little. This electric Toro snow blower has a metal auger blade and does not pull itself along at all. One needs to push it all the time, much harder to use than the gas powered one. Are there any battery single stage snow blowers that assist in the pulling action like the Toro gas powered one? Thanx.

Batteries batteries batteries , this is what was told by a Milwaukee engineer about a year ago....give or take a month or two. Even though lithium ion batteries are a completely different animal compared to older style batteries he still recommended a charging routine. Yes , store your batteries at around 50 to 60 percent charged when not in use however he said at the end of the day try to charge your batteries according to the way that they were depleted. In other words if you drain your 18v 12ah over a two day period or so if possible charge it back up slowly....or if you kill it quickly on your table saw charge up quickly. Idk how true any of this is. ....just repeating what he told me. Anyhoo great video brother. Btw , what cells are in this battery ? 18650 or 21700...if u said it in the video I apologize. M

I am interested in this blower. I've had the EGO snowblower since release and while better then shoveling I'm not a huge fan of this tool anymore. If you're snowblowing any deep/sticky snow the headlights instantly become un useable because of their location. Have to replace scraper bar minimum 1-2 times a season depending on how much I use it, and I'm using it on asphault and new concrete. If you get to end of driveway snow right when the plows come by you're usually fine, but wait a few hours and it freezes forget about it. It's easier to use an ice chopper or shovel and break it up. I believe it's most likely due to the rubber paddle. A metal one would probably chew right through it. It has some power but wet/deeper snowfalls I find myself almost ramming this thing through the snow. Also the directional chute control when new seemed to be smooth and now seems to be getting "gritty" feeling when swinging side to side. I do maintenance on my tools and try to keep them in good shape so we'll see what happens with it. I'm not trying to bash EGO but this Toro from an early look seems to be better quality. Let us know once you really get on it.

How hard is this unit to push when the snow is heavy or over a foot? I have a 221 with rubber augers and that can be very difficult in deep snow. This electric model looks good but at 68 I'm not getting any younger.
@J-Colt
@J-Colt 2 года назад
@@ralphfraumeni6190 When you can break it down and do 3/4 strips it’s not bad. A full strip on a 12” snow is going to be some work. I think this unit is better suited to under 10 “ but can do deeper when needed. My next one will definitely be powered blower. This one just did a 13’ snowstorm fairly quickly

Got my Ego in the mail the day of the "snow storm" but we only got a dusting. I think that was the only time I've been disappointed in not getting more snow. Watching this video made me wonder, with that blower having a metal auger does it have a shear pin? Or is that something that is only on the big boys? Thanks for the video and have a great day!
@WorkshopAddict
@WorkshopAddict 4 года назад
Just like your EGO, the auger is belt-driven. The belt will slip or the computer will shut down the motor.
@wildbill23c
@wildbill23c 4 года назад
Doesn't look like there are any shear pins looking at the parts diagram of it, its belt driven so I assume the impact of an obstacle would be taken by the belt which would either slip or cause an "overload" condition and shut the motor off.

The Auger is great on the Toro hands down! However, I just bought an ego right on the day of the storm and it runs good, but the 2 *5.0 Ah batteries didn’t rise up to my expectations. I also think that the scrapper wont last considering the kind of chips it got with one hour worth of work. How did the battery perform on the toro? One of the things that I also keep thinking about is the warranty on the toro two! The ego got 5 years warranty on the tool itself.
@WorkshopAddict
@WorkshopAddict 4 года назад
The Toro battery lasted about 45 minutes and that will change depending the snow fall load. Warranties are interesting and we have dealt with this. Will EGO send you a new snow blower when yours does not start in 3 years? The answer is..... NO... They would have back in the day but now that they have won the hearts at Home Depot and purchased Skilsaw, they are all in for making the money from the reputation that they had. Yes, the reputation they had. The Chinese companies have done this to many of the tool companies they have purchased. Look at Delta Tools... TORO has a reputation and that warranty means something to me. You have dealers to work with. EGO is just a name that could change or disappear any day they want.

Boooooiii omg last year I picked up a corded electric unit by a similar make. It's literally saved me and I'm OBSESSED with using it and watching videos of these things. It's got the pain in the ass cord however I'm used to old gross gas units that never work. This electric stuff is literally so cool. I'm just learning about the battery operated stuff. I wanna buy a total electric riding lawn mower lolol but I don't have $4000 lololol my old 06 Craftsman is on it's last legs.

Awesome review! I need some recommendations. I never owned a snowblower in my life but I know Toro makes great quality products as I own one of their lawnmowers. My dad only buys Toro products. I live in Wisconsin so we gets lots of snow and deal with the cold often. My driveway can hold 4 vehicles, its cement pavement but has many cracks, flat slope. Do you recommend this Power Clear e21, a Power Clear electric single stage 721, or a SnowMaster??? $800 or less I am willing to spend. I want something affordable but want the best quality product that will do the job.
@WorkshopAddict
@WorkshopAddict 4 года назад
My recommendation is that you look at the power clear 721. It is gas but it will be able to help pull itself along over the cracks and will be something that you can maintain and it will serve you well for 10-20 years.

Thanks for the video. On the non-icy sections of your driveway-- did you feel like you got a clean shave right down to the driveway? Also, is there any "auger assist" where the unit pulls you forward a little bit, or are you having to supply 100% of the forward momentum by pushing it? I expect to have to push it quite a bit during bigger snow drifts, but wonder if it pulls you forward somewhat on its own. I just wonder how this would handle my driveway which has a bit of a slope. Thanks again.
@WorkshopAddict
@WorkshopAddict 4 года назад
It will clean excellent when there is not ice under it. There is no auger assist like some of the TORO gas models. IMHO, the auger assist gas models really work well for many with slopes. My driveway is not flat at all and I was sliding around pushing it even slightly uphill.

@WorkshopAddict

The SP model is awesome, but the auger seems to wear fast. Tough call. If they were the same money, I would go SP. If I had to pay more, it would depend on how large the drive is.
