I think it speaks to how strong a year 2010 was when absolute banger toys like him, Animated Rodimus, RTS Laser Prime, HFTD Sidearm Sideswipe, and Generations Drift didn't make the cut.

Wholeheartedly agree that a Leader class ROTF Mindwipe is something we should have, I thought it was awesome that we got a Depth Charge recolor out of that Terradive, I’m kinda sad that HFTD Seaspray wasn’t on here I hope it gets an honorable mention next time.

There are so many good toys in Hunt for the Decepticons and Generations that weren't even mentioned. Yes, Drift has to be on this list (I'd add Blurr too), but Hailstorm and Tomahawk are so underrated and deserve props here. Seaspray and Darkmount should be here too.

This was a great year for Jazz. Sadly it’s probably going to be the last time he makes it on one of these lists, unless the MPM somehow makes it on 2019’s list.

I actually liked Starscream's live-action movie design. It was a clever way to still have him transform into a fighter jet with 'cheating' via size-shifting, and you could still get a good idea who he was supposed to be just by looking at his robot mode, figuring that's what he transforms into. It was his CHARACTERIZATION that sucked Sharkticon balls.
@hkn9723
@hkn9723 9 дней назад
His characterization was only missing the most defining part of Starscream. His treachery. Other than that he was pretty much alright.😊
@DragoonMS
@DragoonMS 7 дней назад
What's more insulting is that the tie-in comics did a better job of trying to show Starscream's true colors than the movies ever did.

That HftD Battle Blade Bumblebee is *ABSENT* from the list is a war crime. 12:23 AGREED. This is why I initially passed on SS86-1 Jazz, I felt like RtS Jazz was perfectly fine!! Granted, it doesn't scale properly anymore, thanks to SS86-17 Ironhide being smaller (and of course, both SS86-1 Jazz & Origins Jazz being smaller in robot modes) than the Siege Ironhide. But it's still the best Jazz. 16:27 I never personally got to experience the mold, but this was apparently so massively badass that Takara would give it a clean repaint as MPM1 2007 Starscream. 18:18 THIS. RIGHT. HERE!! Excellent choice, good sir. I have the DotM Battle Hook retooled repaint of this mold, and it is glorious... absosmurfinlutely GLORIOUS. The only downside is that they did come out under the overarching, overreaching shadow of the RotF Leader class Optimus Prime mold and all its retools. Subsequent Voyagers would get more love (largely AoE Evasion Mode Optimus, TLK Knight Optimus to a lesser degree, and of course SS32/44, SS38, & SS102)...but they lack that punch.
@SideswipePrime606
@SideswipePrime606 9 дней назад
Heck yeah! The year I properly got into transformers! I bought my first TF in 2007, and I bought some stuff in the ROTF line, but this was the year I took the deep dive. Love that WFC Megs made the list. Pre-Siege him and the Optimus were my collection's only pair of the duo, as every version that came after G1 or otherwise didn't satisfy me the way those two did. Terradive absolutely deserves to be here. To this day I think there aren't many jetformers that reach his heights. The only ones that come to mind are Nitro Zeus, Voyager TLK Megatron, and Kingdom Cyclonus. I think Leader Starscream totally deserves his number 2 spot. There's a reason every subsequent retail Movie Starscream uses his transformation scheme. HECK YEAH BATTLE BLADE OPTIMUS AT NUMBER 1! Best movie Optimus voyager to this day. Studio Series can eat it....really wish I didn't sell mine...those aftermarket prices are pain.

Animated Arcee is genuinely excellent. Possibly the best car Arcee we've ever gotten, with perfect utilization of the kibble. Turning the front of the car into her stompin' boots works excellently. MIndwipe's good. One of the less frustrating RotF toys as I recall. Drift and Seaspray would have been great additions to the list, sorry to see they didn't. No experience with the Buzz, but that is a solid design. WfC Megatron's a good one. And I agree he's more of an artillery emplacement than an actual tank. Terradive's very cool. A great looking robot mode, a cool jet, and the weapon's nice and unique. Though my favorite version of the mold is the Collector's Club Depth Charge. No opinion of Human Alliance in general, but Jazz is certainly an improvement. I don't dislike the RtS Jazz, but I don't feel that I like him as much as other people. It is an excellent car mode and the robot mode is good, but as the aesthetic for Generations bent more towards Sunbow, he felt increasingly out of place. And I'm sorry, but Jazz should not have door wings. That's what further differentiates him from the Datsuns. I think the 86 Jazz is better -- at least the multipack one. No experience with leader-class 'bee. He does look nice though. Yeah, the Starscream's a great looking toy. No personal experience, but he does his job remarkably well. And some good engineering on Prime, for sure.

Number 9 (mind wipe) should have really been The Fallen based on what the movie studios have said, he was originally supposed to have an earth mode which would have been a bomber

They designers run into problems with Arcee because they keep trying to give her a more organic, rounded form. They can keep more feminine proportions while still making those parts angled to make it easier to incorporate them into whatever vehicle mode she transforms into.

My 2010 top ten list. Full disclosure, this is the year of Power Core Combiners and I did NOT include any of them on this list because they're not combiners. The Power Core Combiners come in 2 packs where they are basically just Target Masters but they don't actually combine with anything and if they had been marketed as Target Masters I might have included them but I'm deducting points for what I consider to be false advertising. Then there are 5 packs which almost act like combiners except that only the core robot that forms the torso is an actual character with a robot mode. The other four that form the limbs are essentially just drones that are extentions of the main guy so they aren't combiners either. It's more akin to to Energon Optimus Prime's super mode rather than a real combiner made of smaller robots. If you like them fine that's your opinion but this is my opinion and I just felt like I was lied to about what that toy line actually was. It's the toy line that I think killed Combiners for a while because Hasbro stopped producing them after this line failed but really they just completely missed the ball on what a combiner was ment to be. I also want to mention that I love the WfC/FoC designs and we got four molds based on those designs this year so I'm going to tell you right now all four of those molds are on this list in the top 4 slots. It's just a matter of what order are they going to be in? 10. Drift: At the time I had no idea who Drift was, I didn't read the comics and it would be years before the character appeared in any other media outside of the comics so I just looked at him and thought "Looks like Tigatron if he scanned a vehicle mode." 9. Animated Arcee: I've made it known that I don't really like the proportions of Animated designs but female characters don't suffer from the giant chin, huge upper body, tiny legs proportions that the male characters do so Arcee is one that I actually don't mind. I just wish they gave her more to do in the cartoon as she was really more of a plot device than an actual character. 8. Ghost Rider: I don't talk about the Marvel Crossovers much because most of them did not really appeal to me. The Ironman ones do look like Mech Suits Tony could hypothetical build but a lot of the vehicle modes chosen for this line are just random and have nothing to with the characters most of the time. Ghost Rider however is actually a character who's commonly associated with a vehicle that actually turns into that vehicle and I feel like if a Cybertronian scanned his bike some of that demonic magic might alter their appearance to look like this so of all the Marvel crossovers this is the one that actually kind of works for me. But what I really wish they would do is just make a Venomized Megatron figure to reference that Spider-man crossover from back when Marvel was still writting Transformers comics. 7. Generations Jazz: The speakers on this mold work for the character. I don't think it works for the other characters they retooled him into. Like they could have removed the speakers for the retools but for Jazz his love of music is such a big part of his character identity it makes sense for him to have those speakers. 6. Sea Spray: Some how part of the Hunt for the Decepticons movie toy line but he would fit right in with Generations. He's just a cool new take on the character and boat Transformer of course I'm going to like it. 5. Side Arm Side Swipe: Trading in his swords for guns which he did actually use in the sequel. I got this mold in what I like to call the "Fan wank" color scheme because they did him up like a Nascar with sponsors except all of the Sponsor logos are obscure references to different parts of the fandom. It's a fun toy and I really like Sideswipe's design. 4. Bumblebee: I would rank him higher because of the flip out blades since none of the other figures have any additional melee weapons from the games. However the reason he's this low is because he's kind of fiddly to transform and mine actually broke. It's not a major break just a couple of tabs that hold the vehicle mode together which honestly aren't really needed anyway. There are two sets of taps for his "doors" for lack of a better word, he doesn't really have doors but it's where his doors would be if he had an Earth mode. The tabs go in different directions and require bending translucent plastic to get them secure so breaking those tabs off actually made him easier to transform since he still holds together securely without them. Makes me question why those tabs were even there in the first place when they aren't actually needed and only make the transformation needlessly more complicated. 3. Optimus Prime: Also has a fiddly transformation but at least I can transform this one without breaking parts off. His gun is SUPPOSE to Transform to store in the vehicle mode except the gun doesn't actually fit in it's storage space when it's transformed because it's spring loaded and the tab is too short so pegging it in the way it's intended to go just unlocks it. I don't know why the gun is designed to do something that it can't actually do. Also he doesn't have his axe from the video game but I gave him a spare axe from a RID2015 Optimus Prime that is kind of similar. 2. Soundwave: He doesn't have his cassettes because this is the original Deluxe version but I don't care I actually prefer this mold to the gimmick loaded one. His back is cleaner without the gimmick, he has accurate molding on his back to how he looks in the video game. They didn't need to do that but they did. And his weapons store inside his chest kind of similar to how the original Soundwave's weapons turned into batteries to store in the alt mode. 1. Megatron: He has accurate molding on the back of the figure to look like he does in the video game. They didn't have to do that but they did. The Gamer Edition version bragged about doing that but then didn't actually do it. He looks more like the video game model than the disapointment that is the Gamer Edition figure and this one came out years earlier. On top of all that he can do the tread mode and the hovor mode just like in the game and he's the only figure that has this feature making him one of the most accurate fully featured figures ever made. So of course he's my number one. He may not have his mace but I don't think the mace for this Megatron was as heavily featured as Prime's axe was so I don't really feel like I need it.
