Old tech usually only means that it's a bit slower to work with, but the sound is usually very nice. The 505 has a pretty deep synth engine that can sound really really nice. ZenCore is superclean (i have the Fantom 06) but the 505 has something extra special going on.
@@alfabutane my friend have a phantom too and he's a fan of old Roland grooveboxes, planning to buy one of them one day, but now i can see that Phantom can pretty much replace it and there's no need to waste a couple of grands on it
@@djkanyon yep. The 06 series is around 1000 or 1100 but sounds much cleaner has better polyphony and is more...let's say pro or built for today's standards but doesn't have this special sauce and most of performance actions like muting and live arrangements are done using the touch screen which sucks. At least for me. I'm super clumsy in controlling those.
Thank you so much! The 307 looks cool! Never seen one in the wild tho, just pictures and videos. The RM1X is a strange machine because everybody finds it difficult or uninviting but if you try to think about it as ... say a FL studio in a box then it makes so much sense. Very capable machine, I must say that it's much more capable than the MC505 in terms of sequencing. Takes some time to crack it, but once it's done, it's a pleasure.
@@alfabutane it's also the keyboard buttons sticking and very expensive and complex to replace - I basically had to go back to my carbon sequencer and the synths and just jam with an MC307/AN200 when toying around. But sequencer wise the only one that would trump the RM1X is the RS7000 and good luck to me finding one in good shape and not costing a fortune :)
@@moshell5249 Yeah those RS7K are pretty expensive today. It's strange, I've seen many RM1X with bad buttons but mine was bought in 2005 new. It was a leftover stock, had it since, and never had any issues with sticky keys, mine are very responsive and never replaced. The only button that was acting up was the Play button which was replaced after 18 years of almost daily use.
