I don't believe in condolences for this case. its such an old scam that at this point if you fall for it, that's on you. So many reputable traders have their own sites now so there really is no excuse to getting phished anymore.
@@remington8455 its the opposite. If the scam is old Steam should have protection from it, not the users who have varied age and knowledge of how to use it.
I dont why valve doesnt add like a "safe" for your inventory. That guy probably wasnt going to trade/sell those skins for a long time, there should be an option to put an un removable trade lock on an item for an amount of time you decide. Or just add a secondary password field thats unique from your steam password.
@@ShadowlessMan Nah, 99% of the scams are through those dumb sites which are super easy to spot. If you fall for such a scam you deserve to get scammed.
I’ve this guy on my friend list. I thought he was reorganising his inventory when I saw that majority of his skins left the inventory. Only now I found out that he was scammed… RIP.
@@chainjail4834 nah bro. Don’t think so. Scammer’s account is already trade banned. So HFB’s story is not going to repeat. Support will not return his skins to him 99% since they were doing that before and that lead people to dupe skins through steam support. So if you heard about HFB’s scam and how skins were returned to him this is not happening again. It was an exception.
@@compl1catedforever I heard about that story few months back. But I don't see why steam support can't return the item back? It's not like it'll get duped. Instead steam support didn't wanna help and just banned the scammer account just because they can't be bothered. He got scammed, not hacked. It's much easier for steam support to handle, but... It's what they do best I guess.
happened to me way back in 2020. got scammed 2k USD by a fake bitskins site. Apparently, upon checking, steam didn't block the account till now. Emailed the support for about 5x already.
@@superego8405 True. I got scammed twice in 2017 for a total of about 300€ as a 15 year old lol. About half the money was from getting lucky with cases, and later in the year I got even more lucky with free cases but that's besides the point. Looking back on those scams it's embarrassing I fell for them cause there were so many red flags and just things that scream scam. I did learn from it though.
@@philipauken5391 he went manic because his accounts with millions of dollars got banned. He was running a gambling sites and they banned all account linked to the site. He offd himself because he lost his skins and gambling site.
one thing make me confusion, what its point steam guard??? trade or receive any skins need permission from steam guard BUT stolen by bot not need permission how!?
Don't people know that if you log into steam on browser, what ever legit site you are trying to log in it shows "log in as ...". On scam sites it doesn't give you the option never, you have to log in manually.
@@reasonrevived items you receive from a trade are automatically trade banned for 7 days so the scammer cannot immediately move the skins to another account
Even if he did, since the items are well known a lot of people won’t buy them because they know they were scammed so cashing out will still be really difficult
@@Syiukkie sounds like you never heard of the steam market bots? that will "insta buy" items if they match the requirements that they're given, such as pattern index or float
@@neixen- I should’ve been more clear with my reply. I know of the bots but I meant if he tried to sell them on say buff163 or another third party market place
Account that got me with API scam in 2022 was ban but I just looked and they were unban & items were traded away. No clue how valve allowed this to happen.
if u fall for it its your fault- i fell for a scam too (no not a fishing link) and got scammed for my 2.5k knife . and yes 2.5k isnt 100k but its still his fault
I was scammed for 2.1k usd and after watching this video i am not that sad anymore because i know it could have been much much worse. i feel bad for this chinese collector. stay safe you all
For crying out loud Valve add skin insurance packs to the store page of cs i dont even care if its 50$ a year. Acquired skins should be locked on the recieving account for a 1 week period which will be extended indefinitely in case a report is filed until a thorough investigation comes to a conclusion. If there was foul play involved ban the recieving account and trade the skins back to the original owner.
thats what i was wondering. you cant even insta trade without the auth, theres a long hold. Removing it puts the account on a trade hold as well. So how on earth did he get scammed?
@@RazekVit afaik since the scammed user types in their credentials the scammer has access to everything, from login info to api key, and is able to control their steam guard stuff as well
nennt sich API Scam, sobald du Links geklickt hast, dich irgendwo eingeloggt hast, ist der scammer schon in deinem account und erstellt eigenede trades, da hilft nur noch sein api key zu löschen und alle pw neu zu erstellen
Well, the traders must have seen the sign with: "this user may not be trusted" when trading it (or something like that). Valve never put a high price on skins, the community did and that created all this hate and dumb shit. Even I (60$ daggers and no more) would never send of my knife to a stranger lvl 1 ACC. I don't even trust all the skinsites. How can a person just pass on 24K skin to a sketchy account lol. I learned not to trust people on the internet by losing 15$ once on a scam-gamblesite.
He didn't send the skins himself. He clicked on the phishing link and lost his items that way. Still a stupid mistake but he did not trade those items to a level 1 account himself.
@@Vhvh plz he literally said "this exact way" which means he also clicked on a phishing link and presumably got api scammed and their account hacked the same way
Does anybody know any ways with info of an ip discord account and steam accounts of a scammer how to get the stuff back or worse If anybody would like to make a RU-vid video then contact me
If you're not sure of a link related to trading would it be wise to check the link out with a burner account with Sand dunes or something. Unless you can work with a good trader.
