If there is one constant in the universe, it's Brian's shop. Guys, I'm curious how you travel with your sidewinders? Do you put them on the airplane in those plastic totes? Do you bring O2 bottles? By the way I still think "Ralph's cave" is a terrible name. Not a very spectacular name for one of the best caves in the world. Brian refuses to change it. LOL. This video brought back so many memories. Gotta get back down to dive with Brian! Woody...how much weight is in the XDEEP to accommodate the drysuit? Woody what went wrong???? I can't believe you missed the dive!!!! What a bummer man!! I'm sorry!
@DIVETALK
@DIVETALK Год назад
We pack it on PelicanAir 1615 cases. They are great. I only took one of those to Abaco even though I own two cases. And yes, we bring our o2 tanks with us although in some places they have them for rent, but they are small and easy to bring. I believe Woody had 4 lbs in the spine of the XDeep. I had 2 or 3 as well to combat the halocline.

Is travelling with diving gear difficult? I often wonder what sorta "systems" divers use to rationalise the amount of gear they take overseas on dive trips. Is it a case of having a few essentials of your own that you always take, then rely on local dive shops for other gear to finish of your system? Seeing the rebreathers out of the water and being (at least partly) assembled up close, they're not necessarily small ... or light. Are travel cases for rebreathers or open circuit systems something that exists? EDIT: 24:10 ... Preparing CCRs to the sounds of CCR! Haha! Yes! ❤ And is Woody wearing a dry suit and Gus a regular wetsuit, or is it something different?
@DIVETALK
@DIVETALK Год назад
Traveling with gear is not that hard, you just need the right cases to ensure it won’t get damaged. And yes, I was diving wet and Woody was diving dry.
@PBeringer
@PBeringer Год назад
@@DIVETALK Cool. Do the CCR cases tend to be rigid road case style boxes, or custom moulded plastic things that are a bit more streamlined to occupy less space? Like anything, I guess it depends on who it is and their preference. It'd be interesting to see a bit of how you organise yourself for an international dive trip; what gets taken and what is gonna be hired locally, etc. For instance, it's pretty obvious that any tanks would be hired locally because they can't fly. Or can you take your own O2 tank because it's under a certain size (and details like that)? The difficult thing would be knowing how reliable an unknown dive shop will be; there are so many critical components and parts, it'd be so hard to leave certain things in unknown hands. But there is email, telephone and facsimile to check these things. Hehe. I guess I'm interested because I travel with a lot of music gear quite often and it's a total pain in the arse, but music gear is nowhere near as complex ... or "life or death". Travelling with important/expensive luggage is just bloody stressful, whatever it is ...

Correct me if I'm wrong, and Woody by the way I really love you man, nothing personal, but hey man you need to lend your brother a hand ⁉️ I apologize and no hard feelings!? @DIVE TALK please read Not sure why but watching you don gear was somehow therapuetic. watching you two go through the routine and even though you didn't say much while dressing it was somehow relaxing to watch. perhaps there is something to it and perhaps others enjoyed it also and perhaps you can make more videos including that. maybe cave dive highlights with underwater or in situ skill testing- you two show how to escape line entanglement in a tight overhead with low light, or Gus the linemaster demonstrates how to tie line when there is nothing good to tie it to. the beginning of the vid could show you guys taking your time to put on the gear. peace and God Bless p.s Woody you are aware of things many others are not capable of perceiving. continue and let not anyone's words turn your heart or mind. although it may seem silly to some to tell your rebreather that you love it or give it a kiss, and even though only a person can be loved, you are aware of the energy and intention and emotion behind the action which assuredly modifes all physical reality in accordance with the energy of the giver. in an imaginary experiment where Woody expresses positivity toward his gear and Steely expresses negativity, the results are in accordance with a similar experiment actually conducted IRL in which positive emotions changed the appearance of the molecular structure of water in an appealing and symetrical way and negative emtions affected it in a chaotic and unbalanced way

Regulator recovery isn't something to worry about. Put your alternate in your mouth so you can breathe, roll right so the primary regulator can hang down from your right side, sweep your arm back along your body, and then back to front in a wide arch. You should catch the hose that way and you can follow the hose to retrieve your regulator. Make sure the hose is routed properly, and put the primary back in your mouth. Stow your alternate.

I'm a diver with mild asthma. My dive medical was quite thorough. I had to do a spirometry lung test with a bronchodilator. What that means is basically that they test my lung capacity with and without an inhaler to see how well my lungs function. This was done through a lung specialist doctor which then sent the results to a diving medical doctor. The dive medical doctor gave me the final approval. So it is possible, but you want to get thoroughly checked to see if it is mild and controlled enough.
