Throwback to a year ago when I released this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5xeyeM0pmx0.html If you have any input or are interesting in old minecraft in general, join my discord: discord.gg/dDWJZxXg9B
Going to steal these designs for my own world. But of course I'll credit you and Trez! Fantastic video going into depth on these awesome item elevators :D
There are other working designs, they're just not in videos labelled 'item elevator'. Test137E29 shows a simple concept in his "Fast wheat factory and tree harvester" video (the wheat factory utilizes this to deliver the items to the player). JL2579 & his crew used an item elevator similar to the one at 1:18 in "Minecraft Multiplay #5 : The best legit Mob grinder in 1.0" and it was 100% consistent. That was actually the basis for BoxBlair's item elevator for his sugar farm on Back To Beta. The thing is until MC-73302 was unintentionally added in early release MC, droppers were added & consistent much later and bubble columns much further after that, there's no real "perfect" way to move items up in Minecraft. EDIT: Block 36 (i.e. blocks that are being moved by pistons) aren't fully transparent, they just have really bizarre collision. This was patched in release 1.11.
Thanks Myne! I checked both of those out, Test’s item elevator uses wooden pressure plates which don’t exist in beta 1.7 to detect items, and the concept in JL’s design is the same as the first one I show almost but the code is written more efficiently which allows it to work.
My favorite is definitley the glass one, but i also really like the look of the slab elevator. It's the only one you could add into a build and have it look like it could really exist.
We just need a world download, no tutorial. Great work, I love your content and that you're working on innovative redstone designs for this older version. ^w^
this is awesome!! thank you for showcasing all of these different concepts. i personally would like to see a tutorial on the glass one if it is able to be repeated (in 12 block increments)!
Cool concepts, very interesting. You're too quick to make sweeping statements about what's not possible though. I'll be having a go to try and make an expandable one later Update: I've found a solution to the water stream issue for the slab/fence design
3:00 it could have been the issue with how minecraft works in general, i tried one of ilmangos 0 tick pulse generators in beta 1.7.3 and sometimes it works as intended sometimes not and i think that is because of locationality of contraptions. based on where you build it, some contraptions may work or dont but it seems like beta minecrafts locationality is so inconsistent it does this
the problem is mostly because the hit box of the piston shaft (right below the piston head) messes with it, which is why using a full block avoids this issue
@@Mongster83 pistons are very buggy in this version they can actually boost you up with their heads but only in single player, in servers though, they just pass through you and sometimes the items and i had lots of moments that normal pistons do that in singleplayer as well. this contraption you made is the very clear instance of why you should use a sticky pistons instead of pistons cause it seems like sticky ones are even more reliable than the normal ones in this version
