Like the previous post says, Asuka gets dealt a lot of damage without mana. _With_ mana he's got the highest defense in the game. In order to do what happens in this clip, Asuka has to be at 2% mana at most. Last Horizon actually has 4 hits: the 1st one doesn't deal any damage, the 2nd one hit is just enough to break his mana shield, the 3rd one deals most of the damage, and the 4th one deals enough damage to finish the job. Note that mana shield will tank the damage of any hit even if it's at it possible lowest before being fully depleted; i.e. if Asuka had been at 3% mana or more, that 3rd hit would have done significantly less damage.
@@AlexJCross Most instant kill inputs in previous GG titles used 2QCF inputs to do them. They don't replace the existing inputs too since you have to enter "Instant kill state" and that'll stop you from using other meter-costing super move.
The video paused to load for me when the initial hit happened, but I like to think that the universe had to just stop for a second to process just how dead Asuka was about to be before it let him get launched away. It just feels right, that way.
No, that's him closing his fist right in time. The extra damage damage comes from the other character bouncing around. If the 2nd hit of Last Horizon kills, there's no bouncing and they just come back from the other side of the screen on straight line.
