Yeah almost everything looked at as soon as they mentioned the speed or range was like what’s the point?

Aren't those "20 mph" limits artificial, though? I've heard you can just cut the blue wire, or else flash a new firmware, and bump it up to 40 or even higher. Discord is full of Z-gen kids trading techniques.

In all fairness it should be noted that many were speaking English as a 2nd language. Tip-o-the-hat to anyone that can communicate in more than one language. As for the "born to English" speakers, most have learned to talk from texting.

50lb blocks of wet ice could have been handled more smoothly than any of the native or not speakers of English at this show meant to showcase the very best of each company's technology.

i'm not. you forget these are mom and pop small businesses. they dont have the money to hire elite marketing executives to manipulate buyers. what you see is what you get.

it's disappointing that these ebike makers still have zero security on their products. this is why they wont ever tap into large city markets. the minute you turn your back, your bike is gone and stolen. waste of thousands of dollars for nothing, especially in NYC. it is why e-citibikes are still popular.

I definitely saw a theme at CES. These wonderfully powered bikes that have a hard stop at 20 or 28 MPH so that they can be classified as a Class 2 or 3. My guess is they want to be able to qualify for government rebates.

Goals to reach, though its going to take teamwork. I have a parkinsons/MS themed life that i try to treat as an ability rather than a disability. Back before my neuromuscular challenges began, I once rescued a person who fell through the ice not so solid surface in the middle of a moving river and was super careful enough that we both made it back to safety before he wouldve ended up pulled away under the ice layer with the current. So many people are not so lucky to have rapid onset rescue potentials on standby mode. Think of me that is a person like micheal j fox's 2nd cousin twice removed, that brings perspectives to visionary revisionment. This is how i can help bring meanful help to ours and other species as well. I have attempted contact with various water safety organizations and they either never replied back or said they liked the idea but thats where it stands for now. Tried reaching out to various automotive manufacturers and others in the industry of lidar use in real world applications, lidar sensor manufacturers, but its crickets to be heard in return, but if it wasnt, thats about when quality of life for all gets to level up. Came here to say the same thing. I don't think any of the mics worked. The speaker seemed to get louder as the camera got closer to them so they must have been using the camera mic without realizing it.

Seriously. It’s amazing that so much design and development work is all culminating in this underwhelming presentation. These guys need to be excited and articulate. I can’t imagine showing up at a convention with such low energy and lack of enthusiasm.

They cap it at that speed to maintain regulations. So you will get to 20 quickly, but then holds that speed.

Can such a thing be done? What an incredible notion. Probably not in our timeline.

Agreed. To keep balance you are going to want to put your foot down constantly. Any deep powder and you fall right over. I'm just guessing though. The closest thing I have come to this is the Moonbike and it's trac was nice and wide.

​@@matthewmills9861 I've road snowmobiles a few times, if you stop in powder you sink, if you turn too sharply you'll sink (unless you put all your weight on the outside by standing both feet on that side). Last time I rode one it was through Yellowstone National Park they had a speed limit of 25 mph, I kept the snowmobile at a constant 80 mph went on the open road and went playing in the bowls I still kept it floored and then make the sharp turns I was walking around on top of it to change the weight to steer it, & fom sinking. I had a blast but I don't think you could do that with that tiny little thing... it's back footprint when it dispersed enough snow to keep a 200 pound man from sinking in powder no matter how fast it goes. Bet it would be amazing for a kid about 70 lbs.

@@112Famine Thank you for the insight. I have also ridden snow mobiles and the moonbike electric bike. Both had far bigger tracs. Leaning to make your turns was also a big deal. All I can say is hopefully they send us one to test. That way we can give you the real scoop.

That's not really ment for anything deep. Its ment for a few inches at best, to tool around a baby ski hill or your small town....

@@Nitrous-ej5zy Just imagine it did work in deep powder the thing would be frigging amazing, they wouldn't be able to keep them in the store, they'd sell out overnight. Maybe with a redesign, shifting the weight from a traditional snowmobile. if even all they do is give the rider that ability to slide the battery pack from one side to the other underneath the craft, shifting weight around is how a snowmobile is controlled. ...just saying you couldn't do that with a gas powered engine, a huge battery pack, do not see why they couldn't be put on rails. Talking about doing this on a full sized snowmobile. Then again, if they added a huge battery pack & upsized the skies & the treads, & I think it would need to be longer for stability.

A couple of years ago someone hacked a Cadillac and accelerated the car and it crashed on a corner and the 25 year old man died. I heard it go by my house, I have never heard a car go by that fast, before or since that happened. But that is news the people in my town, don't want you to know about. Someone was jealous of his success. He had just completed his apprenticeship. He worked at a business and the whole town knew him and loved him except for the jealous person that did this, they obviously think that they got away with it. It crashed right in front of my next door neighbors houses.

@@user-qf7ud5de9h So you're saying that because of AI in the car, they were able to control the car and cause it to crash? How? Other than some EVs (unless it was an EV?) cars use mechanical gas pedals.. not entirely sure how they would speed up the car from a hack?

I agree that having AI on your bike is a bit of a stretch. I love using AI for a variety of different applications, but on a bike... I'm not so sure.

Currently, all of your data e.g. every official record, every social media post, Bio metrics, online & card/digital transactions, voice & psychological analysis, etc; literally every scrap of info that can be obtained is being stored in data banks. Some day, in the not-so-distant future, all of your personal data will be analysed by AI and you will be classified within a social status ranking system. You will have no inherent rights; you will need to earn your rank inorder to gain privileges; everything around you will be connected to the Interwebs, everything you do or say (eventually even think) will determine whether you gain/lose rank ie. privileges. Seeing how these segways were engineered, over built & seemingly capable of much more: you can travel 20mph until you increase your rank & unlock the privilege of traveling faster, struck me as indicative of this dystopian authoritarian society- never too early to start something great👍 😃 👍

@@ElectricRevolution I do agree with you the stuff looks nice and I wouldn’t mind buying some of it. My basic worry is that it’s very difficult to know who makes what, what the actual quality is and how you will get parts or service later since 90% of these companies don’t last. I will admit I watched too many videos of Chinese EVs bursting into flame all around China. I may just be a bit paranoid. I still wonder why only China and no one else.

One of the prototypes I rode had a working throttle, but the peddles didn't do a single thing. They said they were get the peddles working for the final shipping model :)

Mainly for markets where Class 3 bikes are not legal. Class 2 requires pedals, so on they go. Oddly you need a license and registration for a moped that goes 20MPH while the 20MPH ebike is a bicycle and does not need the same. Which is one reason the ebikes are so popular and nobody buys mopeds anymore. If you sell it as Class 2 you can pretty much sell anywhere in the USA, while Class 3 is often restricted from multimode paths but can use roadways. Class 4 are just plain illegal except for offroad, because they don't have lights and would require a plate/registration as an Electric Motorcycle. (SurRon/Sting/ect)

@@redwolfexrnot necessarily, a lot of states require very little for mopeds/49cc scooters. I live in Georgia and you only need a learners permit and a helmet…. That’s it. No insurance, registration, title, tag… Just get on and go with no worries at all.

@@zacheryskinner7186 License, helmet, and insurance plus one time registration is required in Texas. They have a special Moped only license that does not require a riding test - I had one 40 years ago and DMV says they still have them. For gas mopeds. So not all that different - the license is the important part that isn't needed for electrics. I ride motorcycles all the time still, but I am looking for a new Class C ebike. (don't want to deal with registration/insurance for a bike I won't ride THAT much -- my 400cc scooter has all that and gets most of my seat time) Oh, and electrics can go 28 with no license while Mopeds are limited to 20 WITH a license. So yeah, like I said -- they don't even try to sell mopeds much here. (just looked it all up -- this is the most current Texas state requirements)

@@redwolfexr electric bikes/scooters are much more regulated here than gas powered mopeds. The requirements here are only needing a learners permit and helmet. Scooters and mopeds are no different in GA, so pedals don’t make a difference on regulation. It must be at max a 49.9cc scooter with a top speed of no more than 35 mph, but that isn’t enforced. I had a Polini Contessa 72cc big bore kit professionally installed and tuned on a 2 stroke Bugeye Yamaha Zuma which had no issues going over 60 mph. I rode it for 3 years before selling it and got pulled over only once, the cop was just wondering how I was going so fast. I told the truth about the mods and his response was “That’s awesome 😂”, he was genuinely curious and told me to ride safe. The only roads we can’t access are Limited Access Highways such as interstate roadways, other than that it’s free rein. They’re referred to as “dui wagons” down here. If you obey the laws, you will never have an issue. My electric scooters on the other hand, I’ve only had for 2 years and have been pulled over more than 5 times. The officers here are very ignorant on the laws regarding electric pev’s, I literally had to Google the laws to show them I was within my rights to ride in the manner that I was. Never got a ticket, just harassment.

Most of these products haven't hit market and the price is pending. Next time I'll see If I can get some sort of idea on what they're thinking
