Do we think he was kind of influenced by this whole Jace-being-brainwashed situation? Because the parabatai bond does influence them A LOT and even Alec said that he felt that sth was wrong with Jace. So maybe he wasn't exactly thinking straight (lol), and some of his poor decisions and doubts stemmed from the demonic influence of Seb?? I'm just theorising because I never really finished book 6, so idk how they resolve their issues, but that sort of 'oh let's take Magnus' immortality without his knowledge' just doesn't suit Alec imo, he's been insecure, yes, but he is also very loyal and a rule-stickler, plus he hates Camille's guts so maybe...

i also remember reading the bane chronicles(?) and magnus mentions an ex girlfriend, and alec gets SO biphobic?? he's so outraged that magnus also likes women for some reason, even middle school me thought that was shitty of him 😭

@@Baneberryy The only argument of that kind I can think of is in the COFA. It's this whole issue with Camille and then Alec accusing Magnus of sleeping around and seeing him as a toy and just a blip. Maybe we are talking about different situations, but I'd need to reread the books or get a chapter title because I don't remember anything else. But if we are talking about the same thing, then your feelings and opinions are valid, but I don't see it the same way. I don't think he was actually biphobic back then. Was he rude and said some uncalled-for and hurtful things? Sure. I don't think he was in the right to accuse Magnus of the things he did. That's shitty of him. But at the same time from all the descriptions and his words, I can understand why he acted that way. First of all, he is only 17, Magnus is his first partner, and he is insecure. But also I always understood that Magnus never really told him about his exes, he didn't tell him about Camille, and suddenly they have to cut their holiday short because Magnus has to talk to this woman, who apparently was his ex. Alec is hurt because he feels like Magnus doesn't really care about him enough to tell him the important things. And then there's Camille who's nasty and just adds fuel to the fire. So he lashes out. Do I think he is right to do that? Absolutely not. But understandable. And I don't think he was biphobic because it wasn't only about Camille, she was only a catalyst. If you had another scene in mind, then I'd love to hear about it because I might reconsider my stance, but if that's what you were referring to then we have different opinions, and both are valid.

That being said, I absolutely hate the trope where a character is cut off when they try to explain themselves. Like, I don't care how hurt you are, you owe the other person a chance to speak.

I‘ve reread them because of the videos (I’ve read them when I was 13, now I’m 26) and homesite was a lot of fun, they weren’t masterpieces but I still loved it and had moments where I laughed out loud! It made me soo nostalgic too.

@@xLiLlyx98 I will say as someone who read all of the first trilogy and about 2/3rds of Fallen Angels I do think that it’s actually a little better because it does focus on the stronger parts and have more fun urban fantasy shenanigans/interpersonal stuff. I think it also just proves my thought that basically every character that isn’t Clary (and Jace a little but he has his moments) is way more interesting. I have my bias towards Simon but that also extends to Isabelle and Alec and Magnus and pretty much everyone else.
