Glad to see you back Cullen. Driving your boat is easier than you think because it has twin engines. All you need is a little practice every so often and you will get the hang of it in no time. You got this man

Glad to see you are back. I have been keeping an eye out for your return. I know it is very upsetting to have your life turned upside down like that. As for the future- you are more than a boat, or a boat guy. We like you for being the person you are, not what you own or where you live. Keep the videos coming and your real friends will stick with you.

Hey Cullen. I was wondering what you’ve been up to. Really glad to see you found a new home for the Chris Craft, if not for yourself (technically). About that, here’s an idea. What if you found a private vacation residence with a dock where the owner might be interested in having someone on the property to keep an eye on things, but not in the house? You might be surprised by how many vacation property owners worry about leaving their property unoccupied 11 months out of the year. Might be an option for you. Anyway, I’m looking forward to seeing more of your vids even if they’re about cars and not necessarily your boat. Most boats eventually do get sorted out with the right owner, but no worries, something will eventually break! lol In the meantime, keep up with your excellent attitude and positive outlook, many others would have given up and cried in their own soup. You’re living the Dream for all of us!

As long as he doesn't stay there more than 7 days consecutively, he isn't legally considered a live aboard. All he's gotta do is stay with a friend, get a motel room, etc. But you do have a good idea. If there's someone out there with a private slip, that would roooooooooock. He's a great dude, and I'm sure someone out there will help him out. We just need to share the shit out of his videos, and maybe the right person will see 'em😁😁

You need to get comfortable running your boat, brother. Crew is nice but there will always be those days where you just have to do it yourself. Get a friend to stand by “just in case” and then practice practice practice.

Cullen glad you found a slip. I wish more live aboard space was available. In the San Francisco Bay Area in California, majority of harbors only allow 10% of liveaboards. There is like a minimum of 2-3 year waiting list. We have a severe affordable housing shortage in California. This problem can be solved so easy. Majority of boats sit empty in our harbors. They could be occupied by a stroke of a pen with law changes. I’m a Realtor by trade and this situation could be resolved so easily. Time to write our Legislators to push for change.

Thanks for the new video. You've had a tough time this year with a hurricane, engine repairs, and getting kicked out of your marina. When I was at Mayport, a very long time ago, I dreamed of getting a small cruiser and living on it while I worked in the Navy. That didn't happen. I remember there were many small marinas along the ICW around Atlantic Beach, and there were docks at the small town beside the Mayport navy base. Glad you're back and looking forward to seeing your work.

Nice to see you bouncing back Cullen - good luck with what must be an ongoing background search for a better mooring. When we bought our boat we were told seven times in the same conversation that we couldn't live aboard. We had a friend's address a couple of blocks away, so it all turned out ok for 7 or eight brilliant years. Like you at the time, we knew every day was gold. Good luck going forward mate. Subbed.

Cullen, I was wondering about you. Missing your videos of course. What some guys do , is sleep in an R.V. adjacent to your harbor or slip to get around the live aboard options. In our harbor, as long as you are not sleeping on your boat for more than 48 hours, they can’t call it a live aboard. Check the law in your state.

Boat videos will be scattered in as often as possible. Because the boat is so big, it takes 10 to 15 Seconds to move from the controls to the cockpit to handle lines. If any emergency happens while docking, 15 seconds is way too long to react to the situation.

Hi Cullen, sorry for the choppy waters you are sailing across. losing the marina was bad news on your last video I watched. I don't know how far you can travel or want to travel but I live on my boat in Titusville and I think they have a slip open. I'm not 100 but you could call maybe? I know Jax is like two hours away and I am sure with your job you probably can not do it but I thought Id throw it out there. I'm at Westland Marina and next door allows LA's too. Titusville municipal marina. They also have a mooring field. Anyway, good luck bud hope you find smoother waters ;)

I am familiar with the area. You seem like you are limiting yourself to JAX. Is that because of work? I have a boat up at Amelia Island. There are some options up there. Also St Augustine is a great boaters place. I have been considering relocating there. As far as "liveaboard" goes. I would never tell a marina I was living aboard, like forever. Yeah your living aboard, but your a cruiser, your just stopping for a month and then when your month is up you pay for another month. By then they know your not all the things they worry about with "liveaboards"

@@CullenCraft what is your tolerable commute time? You work downtown or north or southside? I do know a few folks that have lived aboard down that way. Hows your budget? Money can solve issues sometimes. I am finding that to be an issue dock space is getting ridiculous.
@squarpeg
@squarpeg 3 года назад
Had a buddy who stayed at ortega landing. He loved it but was $$$. JAX does have some off the beaten path sketchy places if you poke around. Have you been over to seafarers on the trout river? I looked at that a few years ago, assuming it is still there it was cheap and local, a bit open, wood docks. There are other places I have never looked into, you ever go to the dames bridge bar? Not sure it is still there, they used to have docks and what looked like boats with people on them I doubt moved much. Other then that I have stayed at a couple marinas near beach blvd bridge, JAX beach, could be something there.
@CullenCraft
@CullenCraft 3 года назад
Checked out a few small marinas on the trout river... Not really my style. And still surprisingly expensive around 500ish. Ortega landing is like a country club... And comes with a bill to match. Last time I asked, they wanted 900+ a month for my 38 footer
@squarpeg
@squarpeg 3 года назад
@@CullenCraft $500 is cheap for dock space for 38ft. That type pricing is all going away as far as I can tell. Yeah, 900+ a month is where things are headed for a large boat. The only positive is it is still not more then the average apartment, and it is much cooler being on your boat in a decent marina then a crappy apartment.

If you really want to go back to living on your boat, you need to research the ordinance(s) that govern live-aboards in the city of your choice. Find out what it will take to change those rules, regulations, ordinance(s) that have put you and other live-aboards in a most uncomfortable spot. It may take a petition with a certain number of signer-supporters or who want to live the live-aboard lifestyle in your City to restore the ordinance(s) that allow live-aboards. Or it could take a position in elected office (City Council) in your city of choice. It is your civil liberties that are being chipped away from you. Don't let it continue. Take action. You and your boat deserve better. Circulate a position. Run for office. Don't let the bozos who took that civil liberty away from you continue to do so.
@CullenCraft
@CullenCraft 3 года назад
Great points. Unfortunately, its not the government making these rules, its the private companies that own the marinas. Its more profitable and less work to disallow liveaboards and just be a storage spot for million dollars yachts. I still have the right live on my boat, but marinas still have the right to not like it.
