I missed your post. Glad you're still posting. 18 knots is good for her every now n then. We ran our 1957 38 footer at cruise speed of 20 knots for 10 years before a major problem. They're tough boats .
Beautiful Boat! I didn't even know Chris Craft even built aluminum Cabin Cruisers! Wood & Fiberglass Yes! Aluminum? No! As one old captain once asked me if I knew what BOAT stood for? I said no! He told me "Bust Out Another Thousand" I own two small boats Bay & a Bass Boat! And the captain was correct about boats!

Well, if you're not filling your new tank to the top, I think you can "tow" it behind your boat. That said, that will create a huge drag and your engines may need much more than a gallon per mile. Boating is a matter of compromises and so life is 😉
Yup, that ought to be just about enough. 😂 but really, a better carburetor, and upgrading to an HEI distributor might actually help. There's a reason we call the Quadrajet carburetor a fuel toilet. An Edelbrock AVS2 is a better carburetor. It has better atomization, and if you use it along with a better designed intake manifold, like an Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, you'd notice the difference. And if you did that along with the distributor upgrade, you'd definitely notice better fuel consumption numbers, and a bit of extra ponies.
Upgrade to higher compression, aluminum heads and Holley EFI. while the motors are pulled for cam and pistons in the rebuild, haul the boat, paint the bottom and polish the screws. Get a second full time job to pay for it. Celebrate one-tenth mpg improvement.

After several YEARs of boat shopping, offers, accepted offers, terrible boat surveys, persnickety boat owners/sellers, boat broker shenanigans (I am being KIND in my word choice), near-blood-loss, $$$ loss/waste, stress... and perhaps even a few tears.... I am making yet another trip down to Miami this coming next week/weekend to close the deal on an older Sea Ray 310 Sundancer.... Gave up the Hatteras 45 and am now on a sailboat. Most expensive way in the world to get somewhere for free. Tampa to NJ was 90gal of diesel and most of that was just charging batteries. ⚓️👨⛵️
I agree with what people are suggesting to you theres more needed to make this engine last, shaving are probably threw out the oil system and need cleaned better. I would take here all apart and replace whats nessary.
For anyone that has owned a old Chris Craft and worked on them can appreciate the level of craftsmanship the old timers put out and this one they have is a gem.

@@CullenCraft thank you very much we can’t wait to have are boat looking as good as yours we are also doing a few major upgrades to ares I see you have a after market fridge in your also is it a standard 110 or is it still a 12v we are gonna be full time on a mooring ball but my fridge took a turn an needs to be replaced.
One other thing I’m having issues with my STB motor it doesn’t want to fire which I’m pretty sure it’s a reverse motor since it’s turning to the right what firing order are you running ?

You never know who you’re dealing with in a situation like that. I’m glad you ended up safe. Years ago, we were sleeping in our slip and felt to boat move slightly but not like from a wake. Then we heard some thud sounds on the flybridge. Before I could get out there my neighbor started yelling at them and scared them off. We also had our tender stolen once but fortunately it was retrieved by the local coastguard with a little damage but all ended up okay. Be safe brother. I love your channel.
Don't forget there was and or is also, "Mothership", "The Song Remains The Same", "BBC Recordings", and "Celebration Day" in vinyl box sets, as well, now! 😁😄😅🤪 I think those first three have been re-issued once so they have been available twice at two different times...what ever the differences were...I think remastering...in particular the remastering since done with the Deluxe Editions...
Yeah those first few weren't in box sets when I made this video I have... Some regrets. But I was also 19 years old back then so that's not unexpected.

Give them to me it will make all your sorrow, guilty consciousness dissapear...at some point...when you forget about them down the line!
nice video, thanks. do u have a watermaker? they are a lot of maintenance but can allow you to carry less water. No issue if you have big tanks. how long can you do with a full tank of water? thanks
