I love that country soul hybrid thing you were playing, the second jam in the demo part. Chefs kiss mate! You do this lick in the turnaround that sounds like Julian Lage, im going to have to slow this down and see if i can poach it from you. Great playing!

@@anishchakravartty2153 Yeah, Gibson LP’s are weird like that! They’re made of wood and depending on the QC at the factory, you could get a Standard that looks and plays like crap! Then, you could get a Studio that plays and feels like a Custom Shop! It’s hard to tell with Gibson, so you really have to grab them and play then to really know if you like the playability and sound. They’re not as consistent as a PRS, but then PRS really don’t sound quite like a LP, either!

Sounded great clean through the Vox. I don't do overdrive unless it's the Robben Ford though his Dumble sound.

I bought the berry burst and run it through my gt1000 and ac30! Incredible tones. Btw I have gibson standards. Great guitar however to heavy! Studio 2024 is perfect due to reduced weight

Got my wine red one couple of weeks ago and it’s a fabulous guitar. Sold my 50s standard a while ago and didn’t think I’d get another Les Paul as apart from the weight I’ve always found them a bit of a one trick pony (I play Strats). The tonal variety you get with this particular model I find quite refreshing in a Les Paul and for me personally with the coil split, phase flip and direct out it makes the guitar really versatile. Looks and sounds great- compound radius ebony fretboard feels and looks beautiful. Guessing this model gonna be a real winner for Gibson.

My 07 which is chambered is still the best guitar I have ever played or owned. Feel and tone. The chambering definitely does contribute to the feel while playing, it's unlike anything I have ever felt in a guitar. I'm not sure if it affects tone, but I think the tone is great too. The 490R/498T are great for me, I like a strong pickup, plenty of OD. I don't even think chambering affects the weight much in mine it feels heavy. It's 7.6 to 8 lbs, I can't tell I think my scale is messed up but it's definitely +7.5. I love it. Is it still worth it? I don't know. $2300 Canadian? That's $1000 more than I paid for mine (with a hardshell Gibson case) in early 08, does not have a gloss finish and that neck heel contour is take it or leave it. I don't play much lead so it doesn't really matter much to me. Black binding on the neck seems pointless. Perhaps it smooths out the feel of the neck, not that mime without binding is rough, it isn't but black binding does nothing for the look which is a waste. I think if you want a Gibson Les Paul because players you look up to played one or play one, yeah it is. A LTD/ESP Eclipse is probably pretty awesome, but it's not what Jimmy Page or Elliot Easton (The Cars, Midnight Special) or Ace Frehley played and the pickups in those guitars are NOT Gibson pickups which is a huge drawback IMO.

I have a tribute. Honestly, with Les Pauls, I feel they do one thing, that one thing, is rare and wonderful , but it doesn’t inspire me to go anywhere else with it. If I want single coil, my vintage strat is right there. Not going to pick up a LP for that. The compound radius is very though. My style is more cascading pentatonics over smooth jazz/prog tracks. The LP for me at this point is just dead weight, I want to get an Ibanez or PRS S2
@CathyHolton-jh1xv
@CathyHolton-jh1xv 6 месяцев назад
I kind of see it the same way, but the guitar I started using for the 5 songs we still play is a 2020 Les Paul Classic. Before that, I’d bring a Strat and a Gibson Explorer through my Fender Super Reverb. The Classic becomes “Straty” sounding enough so that I can use it for all 5 songs without many noticing I’m splitting the coils. 2 songs were played on a Gibson with PAFs and 2 songs were played on a Fender with single coils. The 5th song is one I used to alternate from show to show. It sounded mostly the same no matter which guitar I used. I like coil splitting anyway because it’ll give me an idea of how a song would sound like a Strat or Tele when I’m playing a Les Paul.

I liked the 490 paired pickups on the Tribute series. There also is a bit of arrogance on Gibson's part. This is not the time to make a new price point 5-700$ above the now discontinued Tribute series.

No wonder NO young players playing Gibson. $2,000 for a studio with a crap finish.... screw Gibson.
@ryant3600
@ryant3600 3 месяца назад
that's why they have cheaper/less expensive guitars for them, like Epi's, great guitars more budget friendly or Harley Bentons even less expensive. I never thought a young player should not be playing a Gibson, they should graduate up to one if Gibson becomes their thing. Anymore, Gibsons are more as a collector than a work horse guitar. I mean sure they can be work horse guitars but why bother when there is so many affordable guitars out there that will do the job...And it's hard to find an American Made guitar that's low in price. Yes Gibson has always had a problem with over charging, due to its name more than the actual instrument... But I guess in business if you've been around as long as they have and made a big name for themselves you can charge more. Look at Nike.. I remember back in the day they were "cheap" shoes.. But over time they built up a name.. still same sweat shop shoe.. just bigger name now
@SeanPowell-p4v
@SeanPowell-p4v 3 месяца назад
Yes, Gibson does charge for their guitars. They definitely have a sound that’s hard to replicate, though. I agree, what will stop most people from buying one is the price and tuning stability.
@philcasogonzo14

Why do you think they call it studio? The tone and playability is still phenomenal. I actually dig the finish, but if you want to flex with a $5k guitar playing smoke on the water in your bedroom… by all means. Binding and finish doesn’t add to the tone.

Sorry brother but Nope..to me not worth it. Schecter(solo ii) , Esp(ec 1000 & ec ii) by far highest bang for the buck, or if you want drop 3k Prs (594etc)... way better build quality , no cracked finish or neck ,headstock stays on and you wont have to learn to tune mid song.😂 Love the Look, Love the style. But Found very few I actually like to play. When they start making some real improvements in QC ,style and offer some different neck styles instead of "baseball bat" then I would consider adding some.
@dg311
@dg311 6 месяцев назад
The moderns have a slim taper neck. Cost isn't a problem for some people, and I also hear the QC has been fixed since about 2019 onward but not 100% sure. I did get a 2022 Studio and the quality has been spot on. I do hear still that you have to try more than 1 because the feel can change between even the same models.
