No you did not!!! Barbara Hoyt was in fact the girl with the glasses. I have studied the Manson Family extensively. I could name all of them on sight only if I had to. You got it right on Barbara Hoyt
Greg no prego yes they did! It starts off with Hoyt in the glasses, as you mention, but then shows hamburgers while talking about her being dosed with acid (10 hits I believe), but after that it cuts to footage of Gypsy/Catherine Share (who isn’t even mentioned in the video) while still telling Hoyts story. You say you’ve studied the Manson Family extensively and could name them all, but you can’t tell the difference between Hoyt and Share lol, give me a break. Back to school for you!!!
I remember these murders like it was yesterday. I was shocked and horrified then and am still. The memory doesn't go away for many of us. I can't imagine what it must be for the remaining family members of these victims.
Yes it was horrible for me to know in 1995 while studying in 7th class about the tragedy of Tate. How beautiful she looked in a magazine pic. I had an immediate crush on her and next day I read her full story.
And poor Abigail Folger crying for her mother as they stab her. I think they should have put the whole "Manson Family" to "sleep". Then again being in jail just drove Charlie Manson crazier and he deserved what he got!

ALL of the Manson followers/criminals should NEVER be paroled or released from prison! The followers who murdered people should get the death penalty now that it's been reinstated. The followers who did not murder because a sudden sense of decency overcame them, then turned & testified against Manson & the criminal followers who either committed the crimes or was a part of harming the victims, those followers that cooperated with the State are the bravest people there are! What a shame that these killers got to live while their victims lay in graves. Also, it was wrong that Tex Watson got to father children while behind bars after denying Sharon Tate the right to have her child. I hope these monsters rot in Hell.
@@nadyarossi5102--I read that one of the children he fathered will never be able to take care of himself and will probably spend his entire life in a board and care home. Guess who will be paying for that? It isn't just California tax payers. It's U.S. taxpayers too.
They served (or are still serving) their life sentence, and it is JUSTICE. Who cares about "good behaviour" while in prision? They commited heinous crimes and had to pay for them in a humane prison system. No way they should be released on parole. They repented? Good. When they meet their Creator after death, HE can evaluate their repentance. Not us.
Yes, she left her baby with the family. She was no saint. She was given a immunity for ratting on the others who participated in the murders. If she really didn’t want to be at the scene of the two murder locations, she could have driven herself to a police station, being she was the driver. The others wouldn’t have even noticed she left, during their rampage. I would have never stayed and waited around.
I've read the book Helter Skelter. Must have been the early 70s. I grew up in Southern California we were in an area that you never had to worry about locking your doors. I remember while reading this I got up to make sure all the doors and windows were locked. The really good book.
It's a great book. It's amazing how all they started with was Susan Atkins' confession, which got them the indictment and of course a court date and then she recanted. So then it's a race against time - they had to put together enough physical, circumstantial and witness evidence to convict everyone involved. No small task in the days before DNA sampling.
Maybe that’s because they allow bibles in prison but not in school or government buildings. No seriously, I know a lot of them use that to get out but a few of them really do change. When you are in solitary confinement with nothing but a Bible, if you don’t find God there you will likely never find him out in the world.
The whole of the Manson clan were brainwashed pure and simple!!!! The poor victims never stood a chance against such evil,,, and especially poor Sharon Tate.. Rip to them all. 🙏
I don't know about that. Like Bugliosi said in "Helter Skelter," it was a process of double selection. The followers of Manson had murder in their hearts and allowed themselves to be controlled by Manson. They were not victims!
Bullshit! I was raised in a cult and I got out thanks to the good Lord these people were adults they made their decision. None of them should’ve ever ever ever gotten now.
I respectfully disagree! Vincent Bugliosi and Steven Kay said it was a process of "double selection." Manson's followers had "murder in their hearts" before they even met Manson!
Why especially "poor Sharon"? Frankly speaking the most disturbing thing about this case is how the public is so hung up on Sharon Tate. Why not poor Steven Parent? He was so young. Why not poor Abigail Folger? Jay Sebring or Frykowski? They're lucky to be even mentioned by their names next to spotless Sharon Tate. How must it feel to their kin to have them (un)mentioned as "Sharon Tate and FOUR OTHERS", like they aren't even worth being named in what is known as one of the most notorious crimes in American history...alone the fact that they're named the "Tate-LaBianca-murders" speaks volumes on the value given to these people. Why not "Cielo-LaBianca-murders" for instance. I guess they weren't pregnant, semetrically faced or famous enough to even be mentioned by their names in most publications found on the subject. Pathetic in my opinion. What about Hinman who supposedly was a lovely guy. Shorty Shea stood up to Manson and ended up killed. Hardly anyone even knows about them...yet every honk weeps over poor Sharon begging for her baby's life. This isn't her fault of course. It is really sickening though to hear nothing but "Sharon, Sharon, Sharon"....
These Manson people always turn up with nice clothes and make up and jewellery and watches. Why? Manson walked into interviews in swishy clothes, jewellery, sunglasses, long hair and a beard. All contrary to prison regulations for class A felons. Why ? Why? Who were these people, really? More questions in a case full of holes.
@Busta Speeker i already know all of this, read it all. It's other people who should know about it. McGowan's stuff is quite interesting isn't it. Even Tom O'Neil refers to it regarding his book about this subject published in 2019. Bugliosi had 2 briefs, in my opinion: 1. Protect the US government and its agencies and covert programs, and 2. Protect the sons and daughters of privilege parading as rock stars and movie stars in those LA canyons. Finding the truth was not his brief or his interest.
@Busta Speeker The Manson 'Family' were not hippies. By their own admission they were 'Slippies'. Sneaking into people's homes just to re-arrange their furniture and steal food from their refrigerators (just to befuddle them).
There is a life sentence WITHOUT the possibility for parole, and I a life sentence WITH the possibility for parole. There is no proof needed, it's common knowledge that's how it works. It's always been that way
Helter Skelter is actually an amusement ride in England (was at the time McCartney wrote the song.). Its a giant slide that goes around a center piece like a corkscrew, and the ride is very colorful
They used to have the Helta skelta at Glastonbury not sure if they still do because it was in the children's field. Mats were made of coconut coir because there used to be coconut shys at the festival along with the swinging boats 😀
I used to go on them at UK fun fairs as a kid in the 60s and 70s. You'd ride down the giant spiral slide in an old sack. We thought it was a blast! Lol. Now it's all iPads. Funny old world.
Yes great fun, climbing up the steps to the top of the helter skelter, sitting on a mat and sliding down, round the twisting slide until you landed at the bottom.
@@allencollins9951 You watch too many movies. Mind your business and don't start a business and San Quin is just like any other tuff neighborhood. AND Manson was NEVER in genpop.
@@SuperSedingAngeL-yr0 I don't watch movies but maybe I should I apologize I never got into that much detail all I know he was in San Quinton so is the movie worth watching or is it a waste of time?
Most (all?) did but the death penalty was declared unconstitutional in both California then the country as a whole in the early 70s so their, and other death row inmates, had their sentences reduced to life with possibility of parole. There was no life without parole at the time but that changed sometime in the mid 70s. This is why prisoners like the Mansonites and Sirhan Sirhan come up for parole regularly.
It could definately justify death penalty. Especially manson. In denmark we abolished it long ago. But in 1945 we allowed it to be used on nazi collaborators.
At the rate they were partying, they all lived much longer in prison, than they would have on the street. They would have never made it thru the 1970s.
I will NEVER understand how anyone who is directly involved in murdering any number of people, can be up for parole. These monsters should have been executed soon after being convicted. Once the death penalty was abolished, their life sentences should mean exactly what it says, “for the rest of your natural life”!
Tex looked like a young Spock with those bangs, he managed to get married and had three children while incarceration I don’t get that. He was the most vicious of them all
Taxpayers paid for Watson's children and his "wife." They were all on welfare. Doris Tate, Bless her heart, put an end to conjugal visits" for death row murderers.
I think he's the one who fathered a mentally disabled child (genetic defect) who the taxpayers will have to take care of for life. This child will have no chance of ever being able to work or live without help.
Those family members that actively committed the crimes were individuals who were already criminally oriented or had major personality, character and morality issues. Manson cultivated, exploited and manipulated their flaws to his own ends. Iago from the play Othello really describes Manson. There was no hypnotism or brainwashing but rather Manson providing the negative motivation to enable them to maximize their potential for evil and condemn themselves.
You Got that Right !!! No we Support them until they Die of Old Age !!! What a Joke !!! They should Have Hung them all at the Same Time !!! i Liked The rewrite with Brad Pitt, once upon time in Hollywood !!! Good Flick !!!
I met Bobby Beausoleil hitch-hiking back in the day before his killing spree. Wasn't interested in his commune he had tried to get me into, but he left me with his phone number and name. He had a hawk on his shoulder. I went to a party in a huge house in Los Angeles Harold True was renting. It was next door to what would eventually be the house where the laBiancas were killed. True was a friend of the music producer of the Beach Boys and had initially befriended Manson until he became too annoying to deal with. The night of the laBianca killing, Harold True no longer lived in the house which was more like a mansion, and there's always been speculation online as to whether Manson's initial victim was Harold True and switched to next door when he was found to be no longer living there. You would believe the Manson crimes junkies endlessly debating the Manson family online to this day! Harold True later testified at Manson's trial. My fiance and I made our way through the thick haze of pot smoke and finally parked out butts in a tiny claustrophobic room where a scraggly-haired man was playing guitar and singing badly. There were a group of spooky-eyed zombified girls hanging off him like parisitical vines and finally it got to me. I whispered to my fiance:. "They're giving me bad vibes. let's get outta here". Which we did. I didn't realize until some years later that was Charles Manson and his followers. We were there in, I think it was 1968. That movie "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" nailed the Manson look. That "family" was creepy and insectoid. Those girls already had something evil in them that responded to Manson. Of course they almost all become born-again Christians as if that will atone for what they did but I suppose it's better than nothing especially if they honestly feel remorse. But I think some of them don't. Manson, of course, didn't appear remorseful in the slightes. I have met at time in later years women who gush over Manson - to this day - and I simply cannot fathom it. I thought he was a singularly unattractive, psychobabbling freak of a man.
They should have all been given the death penalty all of them who are still alive they should never again be allowed out of prison these people are evil through and through

Prison time gives you time to think and reflect. But it would've been better if they had turned their life over to Christ BEFORE committing the murders.
@@luckylambdin8269--Who? If you're mentioning Manson, he was a short little nobody. But he was able to get all those girls by telling them they were all beautiful. Even horsey Patricia Krenwinkle.
The lot of them should have been handed the death sentence, or at the very least life imprisonment without the possibility of parole, whether they 'found Jesus' or not.
Funny you should say that, Charlie, Texas, and all 3 Girls WERE initially given Death penalties. BUT, years later The California Supreme Court outlawed them, so they got changed to life instead.
what really annoys me is the fact that these people apply for release (parole) over and over and over and over. there should be a limit to the number of times an inmate can apply for parole.
It’s no different than the revolving doors in prisons today. At least they have stayed out of trouble. Grogan has been out for over 36 years and I have never seen his name in the news. It’s the same with Brunner. The criminals they let out of jail today are back to murdering in no time at all.
@@SlickArmor You see how many black on white crimes there are nowadays? What are they going to do when whites are all gone and there is no one left to work and pay taxes?
@@NuckyArch18 I have heard Steve Grogan made a big change. He kept a job as a painter and told law enforcement where to find Shorty Shea's body. I don't know if he has had contact with his son with Catherine Share. Mary Brunner had a clerical job.
I have zero respect for her. She was the driver, both nights. Instead of waiting around, while the others were on their murder spree, she should have driven herself to the nearest police station.
I like the way people can create a reality different from the world that surrounds them and be willing to reject anything that does not support their delusion.
It looks pretty silly that when they don’t get to paradise following Manson they then replace him with Jesus. Not a great feather to place in your hat that gullible homicidal insane people looking for someone to lead them choose your religion LOL

In prison, they get to play basketball, enjoy computer access, get college degrees, eat well, drink gourmet coffee, watch cable TV, play their guitars, participate in "drama therapy," art classes, etc. Sharon and her baby son, absolute innocents, have been rotting in their early graves for the last 50 years. Charles (Tex) Watson didn’t convert to Christianity-he grew up in the Methodist church. He was supposed to be a good Christian before he went out there. His parents were decent people, and this broke their hearts. He is where he belongs,
And I bet to this day ol Watson never expressed remorse for all those lives he took or helped take. The Supreme Court was stupid for overturning the death penalty to life in prison. That just goes to show you how stupid California really is.
Also just as stupid is how they allowed Tex Watson to get some woman pregnant while he was serving a life sentence. A big slap in the face to Sharon Tate & her family.

Tex was the only one with a gun. The girls had knives. Tex shot Steven Parent in the chest and abdominal areas 4 times at close range. He killed Parent all by himself. He also killed Jay Sebring all by himself. 2 gunshots and Jay was still alive. Tex finished him off with 2 stab wounds to the chest. He also shot Frikowski twice and he pistol whipped him and stabbed him. Tex personally participated in 8 murders - 5 at the Tate house, 2 at the LaBianca house, and Shorty Shea. Gary Hinman was the only one that Tex didn’t participate in.
@@Ken-vk8pb - I didn’t know that. I thought he had a handgun and did the stabbing with a buck knife like the girls had. Maybe having the bayonet was why he had to “finish off” some because the girls and their buck knives weren’t enough.
@@cmm2145 Tex used a bayonet at the Tate house on Sharon Tate and Abigail Folger from what I heard. He admitted to throwing a bayonet out the car window after they left the Tate house a few miles away from the house.
