Here's What's About To Happen With Brandon Aiyuk 

Warner and Deebo both signed in late July. Kittle signed in August. Bosa signed in September. We’re probably 3+ weeks out from anything happening based on the team’s history. Everyone needs to relax.

Here’s what I think is going to happen, and why Aiyuk would be smart to wait until next summer to sign his contract. That drafted Ricky Pearsall for 1 reason, next season. They have Purdy for one more year on his rookie deal and the 49ers want to make one more run fully loaded, and if Aiyuk is dead set on sign a contract now there’s only so much the 49ers even have available to give him. The way Lynch and the 49ers would prefer for this to play out is to trade Deebo Samuel after this season for some picks so they can free up that cash for Purdy and Aiyuk. It will also give Pearsall a year to get familiar with the system before taking over as the other starting receiver or 3rd behind Jennings. We all love Deebo but the truth of the matter is his playing style, catching mostly underneath passes and balls around the line of scrimmage, as well as moonlighting as a running back with about 300 carries he’s not going to have as long of a career. He’s a 28 year old receiving in a 32 year old running back’s body. He’s already peaked and on the downward slide, he’ll be lucky if get 3 more really productive years. So you gotta trade him while he still has value. At that point if Aiyuk has another good year he can sign a contract making him one of the highest paid receivers not named Justin Jefferson and takeover that WR 1 spot. He’s only 26, he’s entering his prime, and he should be able to have a much longer career than Deebo and remain at his peak for more years than Deebo. Aiyuk doesn’t take a lot of hits because he’s usually running behind the secondary or out of bounds. He’s also a better blocker than Deebo and a better locker room guy. If you take your 49er homer glasses off Deebo has been a problem on and off the field. He takes a lot of plays. If he’s not getting the or thinks he’s getting the ball he’s only going half speed, and that’s a problem. He doesn’t block downfield as much as the other guys like Aiyuk and Jennings, and that’s a problem. He takes himself out of games a lot when it appears he probably could have kept playing. The worst of it being in the playoffs when we almost lost to Green Bay. He looked fine after the game, he practiced all week, and he started the next week. The fact that a guy they build game plans around is so quick to take himself out and not gut it out in big time games is a problem. It also happened in the Cleveland game. He was a problem during contract negotiations and he’s constantly getting into trash talking beefs with other team’s best players, and that’s a problem. When don’t need to give Micah Parsons anymore motivation than he’s already got. So it seems like a pretty simple decision when you take a step back. Play this season out and try and get that chip. Then cut ties with Deebo and pay Aiyuk and Purdy. Let this young QB and young receiver grow together and start building chemistry. They’ve got an opportunity to have a solid 8 years together while playing at a high level, and Deebo will just get in the way with that financially and on the field. Last thing Purdy needs is 2 guys who both think they’re the best receiver telling him to throw them ball. Peace out Deebo, it’s been real.

I love Aiyuk, he’s a fantastic WR that fits in nearly perfect to our scheme and is very underrated. BUT…he is replaceable, we made the Super Bowl without him and can make it again without him. Why would the 49ers want to sign Brandon Aiyuk this offseason without knowing how good the rookies are and without knowing how the season turns out? If the 49ers do win the Super Bowl this season, sustainability would become more important than short-term results. When the 49ers signed Aiyuk, the title window did not look as wide open as it is now and the 49ers had less money already tied up.

Someone go find Master P and have him negotiate a contract extension for BA.

It’s simple: Aiyuk is really good. Find a number that works and sign him. Can’t find an agreeable number? See what you can get in a trade. Is it proper value? Trade him. He’s either playing on the fifth year, or getting a contract. A trade is probably 1% probable.

Trade him. He is NOT one of a kind. His demands are outrageous. Niners are going to get themselves in cap hell sooner than later regardless of Lombard's "sinks" which is a "pay all players big money by deferring the day of reckoning". This is like being drunk on debt. Niners management's job is to create an affordable mix of talent; develop to better talent; revolve the talent; repeat--maximizing in context the value of the franchise. BA demands are outside the model for his multi-player position.
