Many wonderful memories her for me. 'Christmas time when my mother would take me along for Christmas shopping then eating at the Woolworth's diner... a true midcentury modern experience although we wouldn't have called it that then. Then my first job was here when I was 16 years old, teaching drum lessons at Strings & Things Music. 'So sad to see this wonderful old place die.
I kinda wish I could remember the mall better. It's been so very long since I used to go there. Now the mall that replaced it has almost gone under. Guess the age of malls is done and over with.
I went there as a kid for music lessons at Hume Music. I vaguely remember the mall. The lights were always out. One of the last things I remember was seeing technicians cutting and laying oak floor pieces to repair the bad ones. I can’t think of the time. Early 2000’s? I just don’t remember much really.
Looks like parts of the building were damaged in a windstorm or tornado. It is too bad they were not able to bring enough businesses back to keep the mall going.
