It's going to be an interesting season with all the new pieces. We're technically more talented but less proven. It's nice that regardless of that, we're still projected to be one of the contenders. Thank you, Mike! 😅 Great show, guys! Go Noles!

I really want to see Norvell take a step forward in how he calls games. There are a lot of questionable play calls ive seen him make and we have had to grind out a lot of close games. Dont need him going for 4th and longs at all this year.

While I certainly trust Norvell, and he's obviously much better at his job than I would be (😅), I don't disagree with you. No offense to Dillingham, but the play calling got a lot better when he left, and Norvell took over. However, I agree there have still been some questionable play calls. Unnecessarily going for it on 4th and long and refusing to run the ball in short yardage situations, opting to throw it multiple times instead are two that come to mind. Also, while I appreciate his sportsmanship, I feel like taking a knee in scoring range multiple times last season when you needed style points cost us in the playoff picture (although the fix was already in). As you said, hopefully, he keeps evolving as a coach and play caller, and I'm sure he self scouts the areas that didn't go well. While it's hard to argue with 23-4, there's always room for improvement unless it's 30-0 with two titles.

One reason for a drop QB wise: Travis was great because his running and elusiveness. But he had Norvell for 3 years. DJU has neither JTs speed, elusiveness or even desire to run it and has him for 1. And then JT had a bonafide stud in Coleman but also a legit cheat code in Wilson being 6’7 WR with decent speed. Having JT legs added pressure to defenses and took some off Benson. Now all 4 are gone and those abilities; I see major drop off.

I get what you're saying and agree with most of it, but idk about the DJU not running part. JT carried the ball 67 times in '22 and 65 times in '23. He didn't have a single game with double-digit carries in 2023 and only 2 in 2022. I know it was primarily due to being banged up, but one of the few criticisms he got last year was refusing to run, and the offense got a lot better when he did. I also agree that he was one of the most elusive and quick runners in all of college football and defenses had to respect his ability. As for DJU, he also ran it 65 times last year, but he had 129 carries in 2022 at Clemson and 94 in 2021. He had double-digit carries in 8 games in '22 and 3 in '21. He's not nearly as electric as JT, but he's also much bigger, which means he's harder to bring down and more durable to run. I suspect we'll see more designed QB runs with him back there this year, but I could be wrong. I'm also with you on the receiver aspect because that's a lot of talent to replace. My hope is that Malik Benson is who we think he is and has the speed to take the top off a defense with a QB who specializes in throwing the deep ball. That's something we didn't have last year and would also help open up the run. We should also have a better OL this year and a deeper, more diverse running backroom. You are also right that DJU won't have the benefit of being under Norvell and Tokarz for 3 years, but he will have a full offseason and be in the best offensive system he's had through his college career with much more talent than he had at Oregon State. I do agree there will be a drop-off in the pass game (maybe not a major one, though), but I also think we'll run the ball better, spread it out more, and take more deep shots.

I don't believe it's intentional. It's more of a speech thing. I told him it's like a tow truck. Tow-cars. 😅
