Almost all of us have had some problems with postal services -- mail gets lost, stolen, delivered to the wrong address. But a San Francisco family stopped getting any mail at all and was stunned to find out why. abc7ne.ws/2BGnapM

Safety my ass. That's why he isn't on camera defending himself because he has no defense. Thought he was smart by retaliating by not delivering the mail. Didn't know they were smart enough to get 7 on your side to help. Now his dumb ass has to resume delivery. That's why he went back now. He was being a dick and using his powers as a mail person not to deliver because he had his feels hurt. Grow up will you for defending a snowflake.
@@eyeIceHe was asked nicly not to knock or ring on multiple occasions but didn't listen to the requests. One chewing out is hardly daily harassment. Plus I am sure the mailman had his own not so nice choice words either. At least give a warning. Also not even following protocol of leaving a note so thry knew where to pick up their mail. Then the rest of them useless post workers all lied and helped their crybaby coworker by not telling her where she could get her mail and just dismissing her. Then the useless supervisor never answers the phone.
I worked with a veteran. He had a sad end to his career. Walked up to a box on porch. Door was open. Screen door closed. And the Rottweiler just barreled through the screen door. I think he had small heart attack and stroke. Of coarse. They had hardly any money. So he didnt get much out of the whole ordeal.
Steampunk Wolf How about treat your carrier like you’re a decent person, don’t park in front of your mailbox, keep your dogs restrained, and just don’t be a general asshole?
They aren’t biting or doing anything wrong all they are doing is barking and he’s doing the wrong thing because they could not have gotten important mail like bills for example
I agree. But the Postal Service shouldn't just stop delivering the mail without any notice or explanation to the homeowner, and then ignore the homeowner's inquiries.
I disagree. The postman has had to deal with difficult home owners before just like a bartender has had to deal with a difficult patron. Suck it up postman. Get some thicker skin, let the guy yell, continue on your route and forget about it.
@Brian The Explorer Why should anyone put up with anyone being abusive, verbally or physically.. We're all quick to judge, but all take a step back and breathe. And the idiot that said to Sue, for what, like some lawyer is really going to take your case. Any business has the right to refuse service, and that even goes for the USPS...
@@anthonymiller934 what do you mean the postal service is required to ring or knock for packages. Thats the guideline all across the board for all delivery services.
No not fair, beforw the incident that got all this started the mailperson was asked repeatedly not to knock or ring. Had he done as asked there would not have been an issue. No, no one should deal with abuse, but a little common sense goes a long way, the costumer is clearly disabled.
No argument there, but it shouldn't have gotten to that point. The carrier had alternatives to provide service and not knock on the door. Saying that he had to knock os almost certainly a lie.
@@devillarratt4134 I worked as a mailman and got out less than a year ago. Based on the information given on the video and what I know of the post office there were alternatives to resolve this before it ever became an issue.
Yeah, really feel that service workers should be allowed to wear devices that record audio and video so you can see the type of shit they have to put up with from some people. Getting mail delivered to you isn't a right. If you want to be a piece of garbage and abuse the workers, you deserve to have deliveries ceased.
Because they asked the mailman several times not to do that (no, that does not mean they should have been rude). But as an exmailman I can tell you they post office was in the wrong here.
I agree with safety, but safety would have never been an issue if the mail carrier would have worked with the family. I don't condone rude behavior but if there was a risk of physical harm then the post office would not have started delivering again. Leaving a notice in their mail slot to let them know the circumstances doesnt require the mail carrier to deal with them. Leaving notices for the packages would have solved the problem before it became a problem, and as a mail carrier you are aware thats not the only solution available. Its also unacceptable that no one told the lady how to recover her mail, she was literally at the post office. You ask her for her ID go get the tub with the mail, and let her know why the mail is not being delivered. I haven't worked on one post office where they wouldn't have known how to handle this. What would you do if one of your customer's asked you knot to knock or ring the doorbell? I know I've dealt with similar circumstances more than once.
I would tell them that the special mail is at the post office for now on. If a package comes that requires a person to be home for, it is at the post office. No need to go out of your way anymore. Too fucking bad about your dogs loser.
Not "completely" granted the son shouldn't have spouted verbal abuse. But if someone asks you NOT to ring or knock, it's not a difficult request to honor
@@circusbrains no if the policy is to ring or knock that's the policy. The son is a weak weak man. @@ghostcasper3185 So you want people to disrespect you in your own house? That's pretty much what the mailman was doing. Policy's aren't LAWS. I deliver for Amazon, so I know precisely what mail carriers go through. All day long I see signs and notes on people's homes to not ring or knock. I respect those. Just like how I'd want someone to respect MY home.
"I sort of.. didn't say very nice things". And the truth comes out. I've cut off customers before for bullying behavior. Workplace violence isn't allowed in the station or on the street.
No, the difference is neither the Mail Carrier nor Postmaster notified the Homeowners of withholding their mail. Thats a Federal crime. Both could very easily lose their jobs and the Federal Postal Service could be subject to a Lawsuit for illegally holding their mail. The Carrier could've just told them to call the Postmaster and officially request they don't knock or ring the bell. That's a very simple thing for them to do, and they'd be required to figure something out or risk discrimination against a Disabled Person. The Postmaster should've investigated and then notified, at the very least, the Homeowners. Not notifying them on purpose and withholding their mail is a crime. The Mail Carrier could've also changed routes (though they shouldnt need to of course since they were doing their job and were yelled at, but they're not 100% off the hook for not at least providing any information and purposefully ignoring a request that deals with special circumstances of a Disabled Person)
@@Servingourstories the only thing I disagree with is the discrimination suggestion. It's the homeowners responsibility to get their dog trained in that situation. After all they have the disability and chose the dog. PO gets F HO gets D-
1 hour Loop songs Verbal abuse often precludes physical abuse. Also, I have two coworkers that were previously attacked by their mail customers physically. one was hospitalized. I’m not trying to decipher where YOUR thin line is to deliver your mail. If YOU are a potential safety hazard, you get no mail. Buy a PO Box or opt out. We deliver among dangers that nobody can control: COVID-19, anthrax, bombings, rain, sleet, heat, gloom of night, but if YOU are the easily avoidable hazard, FUCK YOU! Civility is a prerequisite for being part of civilization. For those with special needs: ANNOUNCE THEM, we’ll be happy to oblige non-combatants.
Maybe you are thinking of too many things at a time. Let me spell it out for you. If the mailman felt unsafe or uncomfortable delivering to somebody's house, the home owner has to be given information on where to pick up their mail. In this case, they were not provided that information. Get it?
Thats an assumption, also unless you paid extra to ensure the package has to be received by someone in the household the Post Office doesn't take respomsibility, so complainimg wouldn't matter too much to them.
Plus, he could've easily just told them to call into his branch and officially request that to the Postmaster. Then there's documentation of that. He took no effort, and in a lawsuit a judge could possibly see his actions as antagonistic. The man had no right to yell at the mailman of course but then if the mailman felt unsafe the Postmaster shouldve reached out to investigate and/or notify the homeowners. The Postal employees purposely withholding mail is a Federal Crime, akin to somebody not authorized to open another person or entities mail. (Which if you didn't know is also a federal crime. I certainly made sure my dad knew that when I was 19 when he kept opening all of my mail, including bank letters and Hospital letters. Never did that again)
@Existential Dread Sure, but the thing is actions come with consequences. The mailman was doing his job and got yelled at for it. Disabled or not, actions come with consequences. If I was the dude I wouldn't want to deliver there either.

Much as I love dogs, if the dogs were upsetting this guy when they were excited by the mailman, it might be conducive to his well-being to NOT have dogs around to upset him.
Even then, the family had plenty of alternatives to fix the problem, turn off the door bell, buy an anti bark frequency emitter, I got one for 20 bucks and I only had to use it once for my dog to quit barking! Think outside the box and fix your own damn problems it's not hard.
As a mail carrier, I thank you. I once had a woman file a complaint against me for not delivering her mail. When a neighbor's dog was out. I cant control your neighbors dog! I just dont want to be attacked.

I was a carrier for many years, and any unsafe condition can lead to a stoppage of mail, broken steps or walk, dogs, people's attitude, etc. I had a house on my route who had a flock of geese loose in the yard, that attacked me and other carriers trying to deliver, so they were told that they had to move their mailbox to the fence. When they refused their mail was stopped by the Station Manager, and they had to come to the station to get their mail.
Ghosting the customers with concerns by the supervisor is not correct. Yes, I have been on both sides when it comes to issues. I dealt with issues when I was a RCA and a customer. I not going into the issues I dealt with when I was a RCA. I had 2 separate times that I paid for and requested my Priority Mail to be picked up at my home. 1st time I either selected front door or inside (knock on front door?). Mail came, they didn't attempted to retrieve the Priority Mail or even left a note. The Priority Mail was for a Federal C. Case that had a tight deadline. What the carrier did was they interfered with a Court Case, that was not legal. 2nd time was at a 10 story apartment building. Same thing as before, I ended up requested to have my Priority Mail to be picked up in my mailbox. Mail came, didn't picked up my Priority Mail. The Post Office did me right. On the same day (early evening), I sent USPS a message about the issue. Within 2 hours, they came back and picked up my Priority Mail. Ironically, the apartment I was living at the time was the old Federal Courthouse and Post Office.

Wayword 1 right? Have none of these people paid any attention to how many postal workers have been shot and killed while delivering mail? My God, people are getting crazy out there. December 24, Christmas Eve, 2019 (2 days ago), a man approached me and started yelling at me very aggressively about how I didn't deliver his package and he's sick of me causing his packages to disappear, etc. He even called my supervisor and was yelling bad names and extremely aggressive with my boss saying I didn't deliver his package. I'm on the phone with my boss when he started his rant. I told my boss I'm literally standing at the mailbox looking at the guy's package in the mailbox and he needs to calm down and LOOK in his mailbox. I also informed the guy he's incorrect about me. I've never been on that route before, so any lost packages were NOT because of me. He held me up at least 20 minutes with his rant and my boss talking to me on the phone. Boss told me to wait by the mailbox until the guy came outside. Even after that, he didn't check his mailbox until I told him to freaking LOOK before you start screaming bad names at me and my boss. And when he did get his package out of the mailbox, do you think he apologized or said thank you? No. Just walked away in a huff. People are getting crazy these days.

@Playlist Maximus Dog barking triggered the son simple since she needs mail and can't get rid of the son. well unless she puts him in a group home but im guessing he's getting a SSD check?
@Brian The Explorer No it wouldn't. Mailpersons ring the bell if they are delivering a package that won't fit into the box. They do this for the recipient so it can be picked up before someone else spots it and takes it.
@Modding Error So you believe the mailmen should take a survey and determine how to approach each house on their route depending on the reactions of the dogs?
On my mail route I have a nurse who works 3rd shift and she put a nice big note by her doorbell not to ring. It helps because sometimes the heat index is 110° and my brain is fried or I have the day off and someone new is on the route. Either way the note is a helpful reminder
If the guy admits he didn't say "nice things," then the family should understand why they're not receiving their mail. The right thing to do would be for the disabled man to apologize for his actions; the postal worker doesn't deserve to be talked to in that tone.
So, if the customer doesn’t know how to behave in order to get their mail, the post office can hold it for them to pick up. Getting mail is a privilege we enjoy as a US citizen, act up, it can go away.
No lol, it's not a privilege. It's literally part of the US government that has to handle citizens. They didn't handle the procedures on saying mail can't be delivered, they ignored it completely. They have the right to not deliver mail but like the video said, they need to inform people first

Leaving a notice would have been a simple thing to do, plus leaving written directions so that other carriers know not to knock and leave a notice instead.

Safety first period, if a carrier feels threaten by owner/pets/or unsafe condition, he can refuse delivery at that point. When I carried mail , all I did is pull out my cell phone , take a picture of the issue and document how unsafe it was. My station cut deliver for a whole entire city block for 4 months as the owner of a PIT bull did not care if it got loose. It was a nightmare for the other innocent residence of that block to have to pick up their mail at the post office because of an discourteous dog owner.
This kind of thing happens all the time. Customers being asses to the postman, get their mail held, and wonder what they did to have to pick up their mail. The minute you make it unsafe or unreasonable to deliver to you, we do NOT have to bring your mail.
they should have simply handed her the mail at the post office and stated why they stopped and told her to pick it up at the post office for now on due to her son's behavior. There are a number of things they could have done previous to her son going off on the carrier. I wouldn't go back there with a barking dog and screaming mentally handicapped adult son either and I am a parent of a mentally handicapped adult child. They knew the dog would bark, they knew he was upset by it and the carrier was required to notify them by knocking or ringing the bell that he left a package. They could have done a few changes to help. They could have installed a flag that would pop up when the carrier came. The man could have put on earmuffs around the time the mail man comes, or the dog could have been taken out for a walk at that time. This is stupid.
I spent about 4 years supervising in a delivery unit and strongly suspect the woman isn't telling the whole story here. Clearly, they were holding the mail at the office. I can't imagine that they wouldn't hand it over to her when she visited.

This is why a lot of us mail carriers don't bother knocking or ringing anymore regardless of the situation. Because of people like this. If your package gets stolen off the porch, oh well, it's your responsibility to check.
I had a reverse situation. I was washing my car and my dog was outside with me, but tied up on a short leash. The dog barked and I noticed the mail man walking on the sidewalk 50 feet away. I walked down and got the mail on the sidewalk. My dog was quiet. For 5 days I got no mail. I went down to the Post Office and was told the mail carrier had filed a complaint against me, but everything is fine because the mail carrier just retired.
I had the exact opposite problem with a certain lazy and apathetic mail carrier... She refused to pick up a package because she "didn't see it on the porch"...even though the online request form included At Front Door, with a little box that welcomed extra instructions, where I typed "Please ring bell"... The other choices for pick up included On Front Porch, At Garage, At Side Door, At Back Door... Her manager lied and said they don't ring doorbells... I filed a grievance, and both carrier and manager twisted it all around and said I was a threat...making me go to the post office for my mail because the carrier was scared of me and refused to deliver to my address..! I contacted the main office with my grievance, and haven't seen that carrier since...I also heard the manager was no longer at that annex...
When I was a carrier we were told if we ever felt unsafe to report it to our Postmaster and then the Postmaster would contact the residents and tell them we will not be delivering mail, this is why and you will have to get a PO Box until the problem is fixed and then prove that it's been fixed
I filed a complaint against my mailman for throwing box with $200 item in it. Next day he yelled at me from his mail van as I sat in my yard, challenged me to fight and said he was going to send gang members to my house and he's suspending my mail service. I filed another complaint, called the postal inspector and called the police. Yet so far he's still allowed to work the route my house is on and they told me I have to go to the post office for my mail.
I had issues with mail for years, but mine was so bizarre. Some mail would get delivered, others not at all (and with little rhyme or reason why). So after this happening and getting no answers from my local carrier/post office, I called the national customer service line. It turned out my address wasn't in the national database as an actual address. Locally it was fine, but outside of stuff delivered from my own county, it would often get returned to sender at the main facility. There's no way for a customer to resolve this either. You just have to put up with it until someone decides to push an update on your address. It took mine more than 6 years to get resolved.
For those who don't know, certified post must be given to the recipient directly; this is because the sender pays an extra fee for a receipt that includes the recipient's signature. Generally the post carrier must leave a notice if they couldn't deliver it directly so that it may be picked up and signed for at the post office. In that sense, both sides are wrong. The post carrier does not need to deliver to houses they don't feel safe at, but the household should have received a notice. (arguably, the post office worker may have not felt safe delivering the notice though)
So glad I'm not a city carrier. No way would that bastard come out the house and talk to a rural carrier that way. You'd get your teeth knocked in for the cause.
Postal employees have the right not to deliver if they feel threatened in any way, dog, people, getting stuck cause of bad driveway, road, etc. my wife is a rural postal carrier. you wouldn't believe the crap people complain about to the USPS, with all the online shipping these workers have to deliver very heavy packages!!
