I think that's so amazing. Dogs were close to people & helping humans even then. The collar & leash are fascinating. It made me smile!

So...how do they know the bits of leather where leashes and not just bindings? My question reflects on the idea, or level of domestication

I'm sure the same importance was both genetically and culturally inherited by a vast and numerous community of kosovar Egyptians

Well, I think the point of the documentary is to show that Egyptians had pets that they cared about. The dogs were buried with or close to their people, and since Egyptians put things they would need or want in the afterlife in their tombs, it implies that these people wanted to be reunited with, and have their dogs with them, in the afterlife. I think it's interesting to see the relationships between ancient cultures and their pets. Animals weren't just incarnations of gods, food sources, or beasts of burden, but were loved members of the family. It's also generally accepted that Egyptians relied more on man power than animals, so the fact that they had pets that also could do work, like helping with hunting, herding, or guarding the home, is pretty interesting. I don't think it's supposed to be so fascinating that dogs were used for protection and hunting, because dogs have been doing that for a long time, but it is interesting that the Egyptians were using dogs in this way. It's just learning more about the history of people's relationships with animals.
