Shinee's Jonghyun also was an inspiration to others: he wasn't afraid of being vocal about global issues and the thing he wanted the most was to put the light on minorities in general. Sadly he was criticised but he never stopped. I wanted to talk about him because his thoughts deserved to be mentioned somehow
The whole skinship between samesex members is not queerbait, cause if you search about same sex friendships in korea in the perspective of people who lived there, you'll find out that they are really like that to their close friends, in and out of camera. Still, when it comes to LGBTQ+ people, they have a lot to improve, but when it comes to fragile masculinity in touching, hugging, kissing other man, it's pretty natural among close friends.
@@matheuswdl When I say fanservice I don't mean skinship between members cause I know many of them do it when they feel comfortable beside eachother. I mean fanservice that they do for concerts or fansigns purposely when they know some fans have certain ships, you can see some moments are scripted (specially in concerts and tour cause they repeat the same actions after certain songs)
@@akuaik.100 yes I’m fine with skin ship because it shows they are comfortable and have a good relationship to show affection but companies ruin that by making them do fanservice , example; Han and Lee Know ship- earlier days they used to be naturally close, playful and affectionate even sometimes flirty but lately in videos it’s very blatant that they were told to play up their relationship and now basically every video has a moment that could be taken as though they were in a romantic relationship (idk if they actually are but it’s very clear to see the way their relationship has changed)
This really shows how toxic the Korean society is - hating idols for posting something about women power, like naeun’s freaking phone case. Yes, girls can do anything.
@Human Being that’s so disgusting, it’s unbelievable. Even if you got educated wrongly through your family, you can still teach yourself better or get taught from someone who knows better - but those people who got educated wrongly don’t even think about looking at “the other side” / the other perspective or won’t listen, which is really annoying. I know they might think this was the right education, but that doesn’t mean it is, so listen.
@KPOP and METAL there is always something women can do and men can’t do. There might be something too, which only men can do but I can’t think of that right now - ( I don’t have anything against men, in general, don’t get me wrong. I just can’t think of anything that men can do, which women can’t do )
@Isabel reed well the Korean society still judges the idols, whether they listen to Kpop or not, because Kpop is still a thing in Korea. If Koreans really weren’t to listen to Kpop as much, as they are, then Kpop wouldn’t be as big as it is. It’s not only a international thing.
@Isabel reed of course it won’t represent the whole society, but still a big part of it. Feminism is still a bad thing in Korea. And if idols talk about something which just has a little bit to do with feminism/ even if it’s just about some women power - like with naeun’s phone case - people/ Korean netizens will talk/ will get involved. And I mean people from everywhere ( in Korea ), not just from the Kpop community.
@@joshua_here5849 Nah, it's like everything, people exaggerates when it suits them. @AliceEphemeral well your not wrong about the conservative society part, but feminism is SK goes to such extent thaat major feminist organizations preach that you should be radical, they put a bad image, and I am not personally sure about feminism for men, if you heard about Erin Pizzey situation, Mary Krosse or the protest against gender neutral rape laws, you would no feminism only supports male victims I guess on "Social media" feminism has always been against male victims, anyways that's a whole other side of debate, and there are not many male idol or female idol who have said they support feminism, so I don't think we can make a presumption, if you want to see an unbiased opinion on SK feminism then you should check out the link below, I know it's a Quora answer, but article from other sites are highly biased

@@Androids23 no actually, if you look at the laws in S. Korea at least, they mostly support women in basically everything. For example, only men are required by law to go to military for 2 years, women are favored in family court decisions, women can falsely accuse a men for sexual assault with no evidence and can get away with it, and the list goes on. Feminism in sk caused this massive change in the political and social system that degraded men and victimized women, people- including many women- have started to reject feminism in order to combat the 'victim' mentality that caused so much harm in the society- like a massive drop in the annual birth rate, hundreds of men being falsely accused of sexual assault every month, and spending tax money for 'families' but all of them being directed to women. However, the type of feminism that they so much reject is the 4th wave feminism, not the 2nd wave if you know what the differences are.

The first story is incredibly blood boiling. I can't imagine being forced to publicly appeal to the dictatorship that oppresses me at the expense of my country's credibility. Denouncing your own identity, disappointing your people, and having to apologize to the government that caused pain and trauma for your people? The shame and anger is unimaginable.
Because Gi-dle have a Chinese member so the group's activities must expand to China. Just like most Hollywood movie studios cowardly have to kneel down before the Chinese communist's power, to make money and promote movies, especially that guy John Cena (or Xina). I bet you that if Lisa or Minnie dare to speak out about the protes in Thailand, they will be boycotted immediately. Actually, I think Tzuyu is a lucky case. Since Twice doesn't have any Chinese members, JYP originally didn't open up the market for Twice here (although that compensates with a thicker schedule, the girls have to be more active).
@@khanhphaminh1175 yeah I can't totally be upset with Tzuyu or certain idols that are forced to for the sake of their careers, especially when they're clearly the victims. This is devestating our Kpop idols can't even have their own and speak about their countries, even for Taiwanese idols. The Kpop industry is so toxic and just wants to keep these girls for their entertainment. Alone with the JYP Entertainment, should be receiving tons of backlash for what they have done. Kpop idols doesn't matter Men or Women should have their rights to speak about whatever they want and they don't even have any rights to speak about other actions in the US such as BLM, LGBTQ+, and so much more. Not only are the Kpop idols being treated like this our American actors and singers they are being treated like this too. Because these companies want M.o.n.e.y! they don't want their idols to have time or get any sleep. They can't even eat any food they want which isn't Okay! and it's not okay to keep these idols silent. I have tons of respect of our Kpop idols, but not their agencies they don't even let them be who they doesn't matter if your gay or straight or homosexual you just be you. After all our Kpop idols should get better treatment and shouldn't be kicked out be they are Gay. It's because they should be who they are . @@l0vet075 That is true that knetz can be absolutely toxic, but it doesn’t help that a good portion of the industry not only enable it but even cater to that kind of toxicity. So to me, both are at fault.
It's sad and heartbreaking that a HUMAN BEING, not idols, are stifled and risk their careers, for merely, exercising their own free will and love for their home country. I understand that they knowingly, at least I hope they're aware, sign up for this type of medieval bullshit, but it goes to show that the companies ONLY concern is MONEY, PROFIT and GREED.
Tzuyu’s situation was NOT RIGHT. She was 16 and on a tv show. She didn’t go out and buy the flag, surely. I feel so bad for her. She rose above big time.
maybe SK misinterpreted "feminism" a lot. "feminism" isn't about female vs male, its about humans vs male patriarchy. we all know, even if you are a male, that males are much more capable of doing violent actions more than women. and that was feminism is about, empowering women against 'danger', and not against men. also, feminism doesn't have to be just for women too. you can be a feminist even if you're a man. reading a book about it won't hurt, idk why they're reacting like that with irene. PLUS, namjoon also reads a feminist book but he gains respect. maybe people just hate irene and it wasn't right! :(
People forget that feminism is about human equality. It’s about protecting all human rights and demanding healthy standards for everyone regardless of gender. Toxic masculinity is also tackled in feminism and we all know how harmful that can be on men. I think there’s a lot of misunderstanding concerning the movement because unless a guy is very toxic and dominating, he shouldn’t feel threatened by feminists.
The word has been used by people who don't believe in men having rights and people that hate men. So if someone first assumes it's about disliking men you shouldn't be surprised. I hate what it has turned into.
You are so right. ALSO, the fact that a man reading a feminist book is cool and a woman reading one is black listed, tells you everything you need to know.
The fact that men we're full on harassing female idols for allegedly supporting feminism just proves a point... It actually made me pretty mad that people had the audacity to hate on someone because they didn't like that their phone case was uplifting to women. Like, your life's gotta be pretty damn depressing if you're so fragile that you feel threatened by some girl's phone case... a PHONE case. It truly makes me wonder how those kinds of people manage to get through the day without having a meltdown
*This isnt about victim being female. This isnt about Feminism , This is person to person , taking actions i might be rash to take parts in such things , but this is ""HUMANISM""* exactly true words 6:32
No. Saying "humanism" erases "female" from the equation. It denies the cultural factors that deem violence against women ok. It makes control over the "fem" ok. It's DaBaby saying homophobic comments to a MAN & people being against him MEANWHILE he's on camera hitting a woman & the internet shrugs. It's "she was asking for it" & "what were you wearing" when 1. clothes has NO bearing on whether ladies of any age are attacked & 2. no one asks for it - but THESE hold up in a court of law. The girl saying she had been mistreated at photo shoot goes to court: "why were you there" "weren't you secretly flirting" "What were you wearing? Why did you agree to it? Why didn't you insist on wearing something else?" YOU CAN NOT BE A HUMANIST AND DISMANTLE OR EVEN COMBAT THESE VERY GENDER-SPECIFIC ISSUES! #feminism PS I bet you dollars to donuts Seohyun only said that to get the male cry babies off her back.
@Isabel reed Dismantle your internalized mysoginy. It'll do you - and the planet - wonders. Humanism DOES NOT help female issues. It's "all lives matter" when people say Black Lives Matter. It literally breaks my heart 💔 seeing how kpop groups and other celebrities are being treated. We are human beings created in God's image. We should treat each other with love , respect and decency. It should not matter if we don't always agree with each other, that is what makes us unique. All we need is Love - the Beatles
A lot of celebrities feel that they're so popular that nothing can harm their careers. Look at Natalie Maines: she thought the Dixie Chicks were so popular that she could get away with that remark about Bush (of which I totally agree). I guess the group wanted to kill her after that; because it not only ruined her career but theirs too!
It's sad how some people only see idols and kpop in general as all rainbows unicorns and happiness I feel like it's really toxic how kpop show everyone that idols are perfect human beings with perfect faces and smiles that are so happy with everything but in reality some of those people aren't even able to be themselves completely I personally think it ain't even worth it imagining how many idols and people in industry's mental health are ruined is just sad
@James Henry Smith your comments are making 0 sense, and you were mocking the kpop industry in another comment and insulting c-pop, but you made hundreds of comments on a Twice singing video defending TWICE from hate?
actually, tzuyu’s apology was not deleted as you said in the video, it’s just a simple mistake in the video and of course it’s alright, but I wanted to make a correction to show that the apology of a 16 year old CHILD who was tormented and bullied which is disturbing, is still up. jype should stop being crowd pleasers and stand up against hate instead of falling into it.
@James Henry Smith that’s rude to say. they ARE real countries. jyp does not represent the whole country, and it’s actually china who pressured tzuyu to apologize not taiwan. all are real countries so don’t disrespect them.
The unnecessary confession/apology is not just, “still up,” the original video without subtitles is still getting some 200 to 250 views per day, is approaching 10 million views, and has 133k comments. If this video is an intentional tear-jerker, I am one person who fell for it
What hurts the most about Tzuyu's situation is that even mainland Chinese media reported that the flag Tzuyu held was not a sign of disrespect to the mainland. It was all caused by mainland China netizens that don't even understand their own country.
I love Sulli, and I always will... I wish if she could have changed her focus from those people who hates her.. To those who loved her..But unfortunately we can't get her back... I miss the way she laughed openly without hiding her smile.. If you ever feel down somehow.. Please consider thinking about the good times, and those people who loves you...
The Shuhua situation was baffling. First of all, it was the graphics department at the tv station who posted the flag. Shuhua had nothing to do with that. Then CUBE up and apologize for something that even THEY didn't do. And to top matters, no one was asking for it, not even China (I don't think). So the whole thing is stupid layered on top of stupid covered by stupid.
people were upset by the taiwanese flag. even knetz criticized them for it. at least cube didn't make shuhua apologize in front of a camera like jyp made tzuyu do :( i think companies and idols do this so they won't get in trouble or lose support from china.
@Wong LiZhen Yeah. Given someone gave Tzuyu that flag for that clip means she wasn't making a political statement. I mean, she didn't arrive at the shoot with the flag in her bag, that was the prop guy's fault. But SHE had to apologize for it, not the company who shot the segment. It's absurd to think that people actually believed that a 16 year old girl was trying to protest a political system when she (at that time) was trying to become an idol. Give me a break. No matter if you agree with someone thoughts or no and if that someone is doing the right thing or no, death threats is not really a solution, things like this should be taken as crimes, let the people fight for what they believe in

Change can start with a single step. Back in the 60s/70s there was a big push for women's rights and equality in the West. It started off small and eventually became a whole movement. Things have much improved for women since then, but it is not perfect and there is still a long way to go, but I hope K-pop idols can keep doing their thing and chip away and get change. The more they raise their voices the more they will be heard and it will be impossible to ignore them. Stay strong.

There isn't anything wrong with feminism. 99.99% of feminists are feminists for the correct reason, they want equality for men and women. However there are obviously going to be a small amount of crazy people with any movement, who take it too far. This very small amount of feminists say "All Men are evil". This is very unfortunate because that is not what feminism is, but because those small amount of people say that, they misrepresent feminism to be something it is not. This causes many men to misunderstand what feminism is, and proceed to be anti-feminist. I think this is very unfortunate because there is actually nothing wrong with feminism, men and women being equal.

We should at least respect an opinion or walk away. So we're all special, and without our differences, the world wouldn't be as unique. So there's no point in fighting...LET'S RESPECT EACH OTHER!!!!💖💖💖
I love how not talking about politics is considered abnormal somehow. Entertainers should stay NEUTRAL so people can watch a movie or watch sports to take a break from real life problems.
That's why they call K-pop the most toxic genre in the history of popular music in the world... No wonder, even if u get involved in it in the slightest, it will take a toll on ur mental health.... Getting infatuated with it in the beginning is easy and exciting. But getting out of it when it has sucked our and drained all ur energy and mental health and happiness is equally more difficult. It's like a dark path of rabbit hole. That's why it's so intoxicating right from the start. The way it is presented to attract the audiences minds it's like the Nectar or All happiness and la la land in the beginning but as u go more and more deeper u see how dangerously toxic it's for ur mental health and happiness. It's just drains u out of ur time and energy... The idols aren't the only ones suffering from exhaustion. The fans too are also. The way these K-pop entertainment companies market and deliver their content 365 days 24*7 via Music, Videos, Fans interaction, Live interaction. It's just so exhausting to keep up with their content. More than idols I'm worried about the K-pop fans who are subjected to such brainwashing into thinking this Fantasy world... I've been the same but just getting out of this toxic world... Sorry man, too much mental draining is happening, no happiness here just toxicity and empty promises and unfulfilled dreams. And I hope others the same. All the best ✌️
