Do your think the main reason it costs $50k is because Ford makes tons of money on it? They would have killed Mustang like the rest of the sedans: Focus, Fiesta, Fusion, Taurus, Cmax if not for great profitability.
That's because he mastered the mustang. He read 501 pages on it and now he is unstoppable. He holds the angelic power - being able to not kill innocent bystanders with a mustang.
I bought a new 2018 Mustang GT and love it. But as far as the cool factor goes, it'll never touch the red '65 I had. The 4v 289 bored .030 over was a screamer, too.
@@jeffduncan9140 I didn't bored mine. Put a big 4 barrel, healthy cam, headers, aluminum intake, 4 speed out of a Shelby. It got down the road pretty well. When all 4 barrels opened up that thing would scream
i work for Ford and i actually assemble the 10 speed automatic transmission thats in the mustang. there is a QR code on EVERY component in the car. every parts build date can be identified with this code. it is used to sync the line for model changes ect. if theres ever a quality issue the single part can be tracked back its supplier build, shipping and final instalation date. has made containment of issues extremely accurate and fast.
Chris pysk can confirm, data matrix. I had to verify parts to audit our Telesis Machine which laser etched matrix codes. Doug, use the app Scandit then pick the “any code” option, it should pick up on the matrix. It would most likely just be a series of numbers followed by dates and part numbers.
121bham +++ Guessing your car has more friends than you do... proof that you can have a bit money and still be worthless. Bet your GF will cheat on you for a dude with a better car, again... ungrateful racist dumbdick.
I work indirectly with Kia, Hyundai, and a few other car companies. It seems just about all car companies are using qr codes for this purpose now, as well as sequencing.
Lighter seats, more grippy, feel nice, look great. They're Recaros, a must have for any legitimate sports car. Heated, cooled, electrically adjustable are for people who notice QR codes on every individual part.
I get the cooling part but i never got why you would want electric seat adjustment. I set up my seat once when i get a car and it stays that way forever. Rarely i give it a slight adjustment after my first longer drive and that's it. I can do that manually and i would never get electric seat adjustment as an upgrade on a new car. Same goes for stuff like air con vents and the steering Collum.
The axle temp gauge is actually an excellent feature. Mustangs, other than the GT350, are notorious for the rear differential overheating during track use. That gauge lets you keep an eye on everything on track day.
Based Shaud yea luxury cars, by the way some Genesis are equiped just like a Bentley there it's plenty of videos comparing Genesis models and Bentley, but some people value more cost rather than how they make you fee,l Kia and Honda or Hyundai doesn't really make you feel in any way like that they are pretty good cars but they aren't meant to make you feel pampered.
Those aren't QR codes. They're DM (a.k.a. Data Matrix) codes. A regular QR-code reader won't read them. A DM code will store only 50 characters -- ideal for a part-number or serial number. And the spare-tire well exists because you *can* buy a spare tire for it. If you want to pony up $175 extra. Also, for $53K, you should've had the magnetorheological suspension -- thus you could make the ride less harsh by selecting a different driving mode, if I'm not mistaken.
I really like the digital tachometers that are sensitive enough to keep up with double and single digit rpm fluctuations. Looks so cool when the engine is running.
Guys, the real sad part is this isn't the first time he's talked about these data matrix codes and called them QR codes... Came to the comments just for this.
Doug DeMuro, the only person to open an owners manual to talk about towing with a mustang, but questions what the Mislock feature is, even though it's also in the owners manual.
Manufacturing guy here. Those QR codes are for Ford’s internal MES system. They are used to help with automation, capturing production data, and purchasing/inventory/lot control.
Owner of the car: "Let's see, well it costs $53,000, has over 400 horsepower & it'll go 0-60 in under 4 seconds so it's a pretty serious machine--" Doug: "LOOK AT ALL THESE QR CODES!"
In 2018 a Mustang GT 5.0 was 35,000 in 2021 a Mustang GT 5.0 is also 35k, this guy got marked up and raped by the dealership Doug should’ve titled this “this is why a Mustang GT with every option available costs 50k”
@@trentmclellan1037 To be fair. The base models are pretty basic. The digital dash, heated and cooled seats, suspension and brake upgrades are worth it to some... and if not, then just wait a year or two and pick one up slightly used, fully loaded, for under 40.
I'm a Ford employee and I think its worth mentioning that your demo was extremely track focused (you can tell by the wheels and rear wing that this one has the GT Performance Pack)this package combined with the Recaro seats are an incredibly rough ride. I would love to see you rate a more typical consumer GT with the power leather seats (heat+vent) and a much softer suspension. I think the extra comfort and options would bring the score up to surpass the Z06.
I'm pretty sure a 10/10 'fun' car would have to come with a factory-equipped hooker in the passenger seat and a handjob/blowjob selector dial. His scoring system makes zero sense, even with one review, much less across multiple.
You are somewhat correct on the QR code’s. Auto manufacturers use them to ensure the correct part # gets on the vehicle. In some cases (mainly safety related), the part is assigned a unique number and “scanned” to the vehicle. Thus, if a recall ever has to be made, they can be certain which vehicles need to be called back.
Four minutes in to the video I get a commercial for the 2018 Mustang, and it’s exactly the same color, and in the video it’s just driving down the road, took me 20 sec before a realized this was not a part of Doug’s video...
I've watched this video maybe 10 times since it came out and today marks a year of owning my 2017 gt, absolutely loved the car in the video and even now love owning it
Personally, I miss the days when you had a REAL guage cluster, and if you wanted to change the engine sound, you drove down to the muffler shop and installed some flowmasters or old school glass packs.
A tuned mustang GT a10 with an E85 tune can and has beat hellcats and that’s just a fact! it’s inarguable. Ford changed the game with their 10speeds. I wanna sell my scatpack for a mustang.
Tyler Johnson I agree I never liked the the older generation mustangs because 300hp just wasn’t enough but when they went back with the 5.0 pushing 400 stock and definitely now with the 2018 pushing 60 more horses you can’t beat it
@@mazdaspeedg2380 I agree, i hated to to go with a 17 when the 18 added direct injection but i couldn't justify spending another 15k or so for it. Plus the 17 is still worth basically what i paid for it, buy a new car and get hit with the immediate depreciation.
I just bought a 2018 GT 6 speed with over $15K in performance mods and only 20K miles on it. Paid $35K for it. Whatever it is, just wait a few years and let someone else take the depreciation and upgrade it for you. I'm sure between the initial price and cost of upgrades my car was once a $65K+ car that I now own for a little over half that. Buy smart
I've noticed something weird: when the turn signal is on, it sounds like a heart beat! It's cool, it's like the car is alive and kicking! A quirk with sentimental value!
@@Moonliterider1 Haha I drove a 15 gt and a regular mustang. It's in both and ya. I would have never thought of it. It's so cool and unique that Ford did that
@@Moonliterider1 100% ya haha I low-key wish my ST had something like that but nope. Just regular old blinkers. I do like the ST badges across the seats though I must admit :)
The car has a leather dash, leather pretty much everywhere except the main portion of the center console and people still complain. The places you touch 90+% of the time are soft touch and people still complain. Also, knocks features down because of "no power seats" when the package literally had to be ordered with the Recaros to REPLACE the power seats. Come on man.
shonole you are spot on sir! I have the explorer 2017 and very similar interior. While yes it is not a bmw or Mercedes lever I have to say ford really has upped their game!
shonole Soft does not mean quality. American cars are not the pinacle of quality if you want that go get a german car. Im not trying to be rude or offensefull but american cars just dont have great materials. Except lincoln and luxury brands like that. And the reason 500hp is so cheap is also because of the meh standards.
That color looks bad on camera, but the new coyote/10-speed combo is quite literally hard to beat. The new generation of pony cars are not trumped up rental cars anymore. These are true sports cars.
Earnest Bunbury + I just had a really funny thought, while the fountain stream is going in your cup, have a straw or two in the cup blowing air & bubbles in the cup! Bystanders will LOVE that shit!!!
A couple things. Your Mustang had the optional Recaro seats which are for track and racing. The normal seats have power and you can also get them heated and vented. Plus, you got the manual 6 speed. That car now has the latest 10 speed automatic that Ford designed with GM. Points off of the features for the manual seats isn't fair. There should be bonus points for the fact that there are so many things you can change on the Mustang that no 2 are exactly alike. That gauge cluster is optional by the way. At least you found out how much fun it is to drive.
This was my 3rd time watching this video in its entirety, and I don't expect it will be my last. Just love watching reviews of this car, counting down the days til I buy one. Thinking about getting it in that Orange Fury as well!
@@Mentality From an unbiased point of view, the Camaro's windshield angle and overall placement, space, and feeling of the cabin make it completely inferior to the Mustang as of now. Stepping out of the car, wow does the Mustang hit a perfect balance of aggressiveness, beauty, and simplicity. The Camaro on the other hand isn't terrible, but it looks more like a Hot Wheel designed to look fast in the eyes of a kid.
How does one see out of the late-model Camaros without a ‘vert with the top down? At least the Mustang has decent sight-lines, the Camaro has the driver sitting in a bunker with slit windows...
ALAPINO Im just saying that to many it's an extra spot to put a manual, but I enjoy that they decided on the feature.they didn't have to add it, but they did there regardless.
Good sir, I was replying to "Evan Roberts" above. Do agree your above sentiment. It is, indeed, the small things that count. Little considerations like that are nice from Ford.
You can save all that trial and error, learning-by-experience and time spent looking for answers elsewhere if you look through the owners manual. Personally I ask for the owners manual to a car from the dealership before I take delivery of it. I"m excited about the car but don't have my hands on it and there's no better impetus for looking through an owners manual than that. I gaurantee there's things you will never know about your car unless you read through the owners manual, even if you have the thing for a decade.
Just not from General Motors, from the Pre-2000s. Back then you could buy any car fully loaded and the manual will have details about things that don't exist and gloss over the things it does have.
The fact that they included towing in the manual is cool. Would there be any reason NOT to be able to tow a small boat/jet ski with this? Pretty cool they addressed it for those of us that want utility
Doug thanks for reviewing a 2018 GT. The wife and I are retired and I am almost 70 and we bought a Vert version of the 2018 GT and it is a blast. We have the 10 speed and a lot of options. We get to have our buns cooled and heated, no Recarro seats. I watch everyone of your videos. I have experienced so many cars I would not otherwise get to even see....! Keep up the enjoyable channel.
Save money get a scat pack for 392 package, for 37k-45k and it has 485 hp and same stuff just cheaper, tbh for 37k scatpacks are best. Im not trying to persuade you or anything but i do love mustangs too however best bucks is challengers.
I've never been much of a Mustang fan(except for the old ones) but I think the new ones look great, and 460 HP in the GT is no joke. 0-60 in 3.9s is in serious sports car territory.
Doug there is an absolute logical reason why you have almost 2 million followers on your channel...beating almost every (current or new) famous guy reviewer by a very large margin (though Parker from vehicle virgins is somewhat, but still far closing in)...and that reason is, as goofy and somewhat sarcastically funny as you are, you do give a very thorough and practical once over of any vehicle you review. You have a very uncanny and entertaining way of pointing out and scrutinizing I think literally every nook and cranny of a vehicle but also at the same time going over specs and what makes that particular vehicle shine or suck. Also you are goofy (a compliment) as supposed to overly excited or hyper which bugs me personally with other reviewers, but most of all of all of your “quirkiness” I like the fact that you seem to come across as a down to earth guy who has his shit together and thoroughly knows his subject. So congrats! As a very serious petrol head, I would always look for your reviews and insight 1st before I seek the point of view of your other peers because I know that with you, I’m not being bullshitted/ hyped/ or stroked and that I’m getting enough intelligent info to learn or make a decision...but also entertained at the same time. So thank you for being a great car reviewer!
What I look for in a great interior for a car is granite/quartz countertops, brass/gold hardware, a lazy suzane in the center console for my phone or a piece of cake, marble hand chiseled A-pillars with greek godesses on them and of course the seat was straight out of a furniture store with massaging seats.... so hard to find nowadays.
Hello. do you have a cool car i can review? ill explore its weird quirks and features, and give it a doug score. make sure to read my article at autotrader.com/oversteer. visit tauro.com to get a cool rental car! mainly looking for people in san diego area.
One quirk that you didn't mention about the chrome toggle switches is that they only toggle UP not DOWN. I think this is funny, particularly on the Steering & Drive Mode selections as you're scrolling through options and have to go all the way thru the 4 drive options to return to normal vs going backward. Anyone else think this was funky or just me?
Always makes me laugh he’s 6”4 getting on back seats like he’s a normal size guy. You’re in the top 1 percent of height Doug. I’m sure the car companies aren’t saying how big is the back seat can we fit a basketball player height guy back here lmao.
@@ushio1087 or maybe you're an ignoramus that can't read statistics. Over 6' is less than 10% of the male population in the US and less than 2% worldwide....unless the only statistics that you go by are college and pro basketball and football.....but that's just stupid and doesn't represent the majority of people....not even 1% of the male population is a top football or basketball player. According to a men's survey a few years ago, their average was 5'9-5'11, with an average weight of 165-175lbs.
Doug’s (and others like him) backseat “test” is always worthless information. He exaggerates for effect. Truth is the seats are perfectly fine for kids. I’ve also had a 5’10” teenager sit behind my 5’ 10” teen sitting in front and he didn’t adjust the seat. Kid in back was fine for a ride across the city. I’m 6’ and I tried to sit “behind myself” and it’s pretty tight. My head was craned at an awkward angle. Kids though? No problem at all. I drive them to school in mine.
robertsd247 Jay is actually one of the few true car guys left. He's very knowledgeable and passionate. I also had the pleasure of meeting him and touring his garage.
Kiraro The Kitsune 53.000 euros is a entry value for a ecoboost here in Portugal. :( The GT's price is even crazyer. 95.000 euros, around 110.000 dollars!!!!
Some1 No, for gods sake, no! I just calculated it with an online configurator. This car with premium package 4 and magnetic ride costs 71,000.- € in Austria. Taxes are different in the EU. So for example, the new KIA Stinger GT costs 64.000,- in my home and 99.000.- in the Netherlands (yes, almost 100 grand!!). It is insane....
matiastifosi in Greece to be able to drive this car you have to pay 6k each year so my gt350 is the only one in the country and that’s sad because no one knows about my car someone once asked me if it is a Ferrari😂
Same in Switzerland and France, around $80.000 if you add all the CO2 emission annual taxes + big engine tax + gas is much more expensive than in the US.
I think you missed the point completely or you just have no idea what you're talking about. I think it's awesome that an american 50k sports car with 460 horsepower can beat a german car with 476hp in 0-60 time. Especially when the german car costs tens of thousands more obviously. The US car industry has really started to get out of their poor reputation of making solid axle'd pushrod engined pig iron tier cars and that's great, now if only they worked on shipping them to europe.
I loved this whole Mustang review video but my favorite part was when you got in the back seat and got all mad and started explaining the reasoning of mustang having a back seat while holding for dear life 😂😂😂
You people who are freaking out over 50 grand have no clue. The dealerships put every available option on these cars just to charge a premium price $50k or more. The 2018 GT starts at 35K people, you don’t have to buy the heated and cooled everything that the dealership wants you to. For 35K you can get a nicely optioned GT that can kick the crap out of several cars costing a lot more. The Mustang has made lots of improvements over the years, 460 horse power all motor, a 2009 mustang you would be lucky to get 450 with a base supercharger kit. Most people that buy mustangs keep their cars for several years because they love them, if you’re buying a Mustang for trade in value you might as well get a Camry. Why bitch and moan over the cost of a vehicle that you can’t afford if you can’t afford 50 K for a mustang you can’t afford a GTR or a Lamborghini or even a highly optioned Kia stinger LOL. The base supercharger kit for the 2018 mustang with a full warranty is 700 hp forget about the hellcat that’s good enough to go hunt exotics...
Richard's World Traveler we already do, not a forehead stamp....yet but on their little crib there is a QR code on the front with the room number of the mother
