Holy Moly, Caesarea has changed!! It was my wife and mine's first archaeological dig in 1996, the temple mount area (looking for the Byzantine church built on top of the Roman temple Herod dedicated to Augustus), there was so little development then, but look at it now!! 😮 Further down the coast Herod's palace was still being excavated! It was all such a mess!! 29:54 ... our dig director is a fanatic of Idan Raichel... she has footed the bill to take our dig team (often up to 50 people) to 4 of his concerts in past seasons, including at Masada and here at Caesarea ... 57:35 ... wow! This was part of our team's work in '96 (but nowhere this extensive! They'd only just started) ... amazing to see how much more has been excavated!!
@@ThereseDunne-v9b my caveat/confession: on that first dig (paying volunteer... non student "volunteers" pay to work on the dig) I made it clear I wouldn't be doing any digging, I was there to watch and video tape, taped quite a bit! My wife worked in the trenches and she was 5 months pregnant!!

You can see why Pontius Pilate built a home here. Not only because of the trade going in and out via the ancient sea port of Caesarea, but the location along the Mediterranean Sea is simply spectacular!
