Meanwhile, the amount of hair Janet describes as the tips is my whole ponytail. That's depressing, let me tell you!

Noneofya Business Ugh, tell me about it. I have pretty long hair, but it’s just one of these segregated bunches, ONE! BAAAARELY Ah, well, I’m too lazy to handle that much hair anyway. I am undeserving.

I just realized why I like your channel so much. Your presentations help me visualize history in a way that isn't "dead." When I learned history it was just names & dates - there were barely even any people. As for this period of history, it's just statues. But when I see your models, I get a glimpse of what things must have been like with people who lived & breathed during that time. Wonderful.

Mithras and Sol blessings upon you Janet! I'm a Severan dynasty and Crisis of the Third Century reenactor from France; it's always heartwarming to have 3rd century content being produced. The 193-284 AD period is fascinating and deserves more attention!

A good way to learn almost any kind of braid is to begin with yarn, ribbons, or similar. Although, I sort of have trouble with a four strand braid in my own hair.

I used to put my daughter’s hair into a high ponytail, make three braids, braid the braids and loop it back up to the ponytail base. The braided portion actually looked a lot like this braided portion.

@@None.of.ya.business666 aww don't be jealous! It's taken a number of years to get here, and it's not as thick as I have wished it would be but it takes time and patience and some hairy genetics to grow to this length. Many people can't grow to this length, so I feel lucky that I have been able to, even though I keep hoping for ankle (and I'm not so sure it'll get there). Work with what you have! If you desire length, take great care of your locks and your health and you'll reach greater lengths than you think!

I wonder what made the ancient ppl think "hey, imma sew my hair to my head" like where did all these hairstyles come from?!
@thebookwyrmslair6757
@thebookwyrmslair6757 4 года назад
Need to keep hair out of face & fire while working, no hairspray or hair bands like we have now, besides lat longer with less tangles. I love that they stitched the hair! I was so tempted to stitch my friend's daughter's hair - it'was so heavy to braid for homecoming! It was laughing at all of my hairpins and Bobby pins!
@MrsBrit1
@MrsBrit1 4 года назад
It's actually quite comfortable, and the hairstyle is long lasting when stitched. There was no other way to create such intricate styles without stitching them down. In later times, similar hair stitching was called hair taping and often used decorative ribbon instead of a thread.

Your video editing is getting a lot better, but I'd suggest a steadier camera or stabilization in iMovie. To be honest, you may even want to consider learning Final Cut Pro X. Of course, you can also record with a camera on a tripod so it doesn't move so much.
