lol you just have a narrow mind..one day youll grow out of it and learn how to appreciate anything that doesnt have the "cop" look....until then guys like me will keep expanding on the crown vic past the old and overdone cop look
I like the hilborn scoop. Was looking for something like that before I bought the cowl hood of which you speak. For the record, you are correct on the price, but the ordering was pretty easy. I got mine in early 2020. From first phone call until I received the hood was about 2 weeks. According to my sct tuner, it does drop the operating temp a few degrees. It is expensive for putting on an old crown vic, but I had some cash from a motorcycle wreck, so I showed my vic some love, lol.
For the more exact explanation a shaker hood is as the name states. The ram scoop is attached to originally as in the Dodge's from back in the day, the carb and protrudes through the giant hole in the hood and it shakes with the vibration of the engine. On a side note, Mr. Random you should come back to FL so we can install a carbureted fox body 5.0 with a turbo from a 6.0 Diesel sticking out the top. That would scream Mad Max!
you can get an Edelbrock 4150 EFI intake manifold with a 4150 style throttle body which looks like a 4bbl carb and fits most universal 4bbl carb air takes like this one. Which would mostly like to make more power than this setup and allow the hood scoop to actually function as it was designed.
I say when it comes to customizing cars and you like what you do then far be it from me to put anyone down! As long as you like it is all that matters! I see things that maybe I would not do myself doesnt mean you shouldnt do It. When I was young and didnt have much money I put a Crane Cams hood scoop on Ma's Plymouth Valiant station wagon and the jokes and laughs we got was a riot! Keep having fun with your car. Its all about personal taste or no...lol
Could you put a k and n filter inside the scoop. I believe the k and n filter to be a waste of money but if you could put it inside the scoop, I think it would force more air and it would be colder with the shorter hose and having the air around go past the filter and hit the throttle body to still cool it more.
I like the idea but the execution is meh. Cooling the throttle body doesn’t give enough surface area for the air to get colder. Convection needs loads of surface area to cool the pre heated air. What you should do is connect the scoop to the throttle body. So colder air is in the pipe. Because like I said, convection within the pipe won’t heat up the air that’s already cold fast enough to make it genuinely hot. Get a tuner or BlueDriver that literally reads air temps. My 2004 mustang has a intake that’s going through where the passenger headlight use to be. And my intake temps went form 80ish degrees to ambient or colder when driving. 👍
YO Random i just got my own vic, ive been watching your vids for a long time along with EastCoastClassics and you guys made me decide to get a vic. I got a 85 LTD crown victoria and i just made a video on it if you want to follow along on my resto-mod-drivable-firstcar build, ill try i made atleast 1 video weekly and ill take all considerations that you have to say or anyone for that matter. So if you wanna see a peice of Crown Victoria history check out my channel and follow along to see it going to turnout, i wouldnt have it unless i found your channel.
i just got a butterfly hood scoop for my mark 7. now i have to make up my mind how im going to pipe it to my 5.0, maybe 3 90s or use my prototype box syclone ported intake and put the TB right straight up
Yo how'd you seal this to the hood? I was looking for a video where someone was using this as a scoop without bolting it on top of the carb, and you're the only one haha. I've got a van with the engine in the cab and I want to use one of these as a ram intake
100% Bad ass! I don't care what anyone says, I like the scoop on the vic, but now will you make it more functional with a short air intake project or something? Thanks for sharing and taking some chances with your ride. I'm always interested in seeing what's next on your channel. I'm not sure about a the whole roof bar thing... but if you did maybe consider a rounder framed roof bar to match the push bar you already have in front, like that Jeep B-ute concept roof bar? fcauthority.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Jeep-B-ute-concept-720x340.jpg
Hey Vic Doctor..... The heater in my 07 P71 decided to take a shit a couple weeks ago. It worked amazingly when I got the car and now all I get is a little "Pft" sound when I switch the defrost dial....not sure if you will see this but I will thoroughly appreciate any advise and thank you in advance!
I need your help. I've never owned a CVPI before and I am trying to decide which one to buy. I have two options: A 2010 with 104K miles, 3300 h, white for $4500 OR a 2011 with 52K miles, 7500 h, black for $7900. They both sound and look good and have clean Autocheck report. Also, separate question, which color do you think gives mores the "oh shit it's a cop!" effect? black or white?
I had a very clean all black one n it was terrifying! I literally parted traffic on the highway like the Red Sea. It was so clean that a few times I got waved thru check points bcuz they thought I was police lol. Also once I got pulled over for speeding and the officer let me go bcuz my car was so clean. N once a officer pulled along side of me n asked if I wanted to trade my car for his new caprice that they drive now. However I’d definitely get one of the new caprice v8 police cars bcuz they have the same engine as the Chevy SS but it’s 355hp instead of 415. But I’m sure with a tune it could get to 415 or better.
Thinking of buying my own crown Vic soon, 2008 and up only. Just wondering how are these things on gas? Like how much to fill up and mpg from your experience? Would you recommend these for road trips?
Does it have any mods? If not and its still factory, you should just keep using regular unleaded, however, running 93 octane from time to time won't hurt it but I wouldn't suggest using it on a regular basis... I own an 04 myself with over 270,XXX miles on it and only use regular unleaded....
Came already set up, look under the hood to see if you have the set up, may just need the steering wheel, ford left options on the vic just deleted the buttons for alot of it
Hey Random, since you're Mad Maxing out the vic, I found an even more over the top push bar for her! www.ibistek.com/product/detail/lightweight_front_protective_bumper I have no clue how hard it is to get, or how expensive it is. But, it's worth a look. Either way, it's a badass bar!
If you ever take it to a drag strip, you gotta put like flamethrowers in the exhaust and activate it going down the strip. There's nothing more American than that, a blacked out Crown Vic police interceptor with a big ass push bar, hood scoop, while it's flaming down a drag strip...
Do you still have this hillborne scoop? I know you switched your hood entirely and added the mustang GT hood scoop on it, that's why I was asking BC I'd be interested in trying to buy it from you
